It's been quite the summer of unexpected hit series on Netflix. The mystery thriller series Untamed was originally intended to be a limited series, but due to its overwhelming viewership numbers, the streamer already ordered a second season. Hot on its trails, The Hunting Wives has become the next binge-watch sensation on the streaming service that's leaving us wanting more.

Based on the book of the same name by May Cobb and starring fan-favorites Brittany Snow and Malin Akerman among many other familiar faces, The Hunting Wives was originally intended to air on Starz. However, Netflix swooped in to save the series and become its streaming home for one year in the United States. After its premiere on July 21, the series became an overnight success.

For the first time, The Hunting Wives became the No. 1 show on the Netflix top 10 most popular shows ranking in the United States as of July 30, overtaking Untamed.

Updated: Some Netflix U.S. subscribers have been taken aback by the raunch quotient in the new culture-war soapy thriller series The Hunting Wives, which features a lot more nudity and sex than the average Netflix drama, even more than the streamer’s steamy Regency romance Bridgerton.

That is because most viewers don’t know the series’ unusual history — up until a month and a half ago, the Lionsgate Television-produced The Hunting Wives, starring Malin Åkerman and Brittany Snow, was a completed Starz drama. Starz, known for pushing the boundaries with racy content — as exemplified by its tagline, “We’re All Adults Here” — was reportedly not high on The Hunting Wives, and its split from Lionsgate allowed it to find a new home.

Another former Starz series that features frequent sex scenes, Hightown, which ran on the then-Lionsgate-owned network for three seasons, also recently launched on Netflix in the U.

The first 22 minutes of the Stephen King adaptation “The Long Walk” debuted at San Diego Comic-Con on Friday, following the debut of the new red-band trailer and a panel featuring the cast, including Mark Hamill, David Jonsson (“Alien: Romulus”), Tut Nyuot and Garrett Wareing (“Manifest”).

The film is adapted from King’s 1979 novel (first written when he was 19!), set in an authoritarian America in which 50 young adult men join a televised contest to walk continuously at a pace of at least three miles per hour — or they’ll be killed. Hamill plays a man only known as the Major, the military commander who oversees the Walk and gives the walkers their literal marching orders. In the panel, Hamill said that when director Francis Lawrence approached him about playing the part, it immediately evoked his teenage years in Japan, where he went to school next to a U.S. military base.

Fresh out of San Diego Comic-Con tonight, the brand new trailer for Stephen King adaptation The Long Walk has shambled its way online. Watch Official Trailer 2 down below.

Based on the book Incidents Around the House by Bird Box‘s Josh Malerman, Other Mommy centers on eight-year-old Bela (Clark), who lives in a home strained by her parents’ troubled marriage, only to see her life further upended by a sinister entity she calls “Other Mommy.” When this malevolent presence emerges from her closet, persistently asking “Can I go inside your heart?”, Bela refuses. But soon, Other Mommy’s manifestations become increasingly aggressive, threatening the safety of Bela’s family.

“The Summer I Turned Pretty” returned for its third and final season Wednesday, and the love triangle is not over yet.

Four years after the events of Season 2, Belly and the Fisher brothers will spend another summer at Cousins Beach. Belly (Lola Tung) just completed her junior year of college and is happily dating younger brother Jeremiah Fisher (Gavin Casalegno). Though the couple’s relationship seems stronger than ever, Conrad’s appearance at the place where Belly fell in love with him reopens old wounds of her first love and heartbreak.

The third and final season brought back several returning faces but also added several new cast members. Isabella Briggs and Kristen Connolly joined the cast as series regulars. Other new faces joining Season 3 include Sofia Bryant, Lily Donoghue, Zoé de Grand’Maison, Emma Ishta and Tanner Zagarino.

Both in movies and on television, stories set in airplanes — or that are tied to events in an airplane — tend to be thrilling and spark viewers' curiosity. The last hit show that featured an airborne plot was Manifest, a 2018 thriller and mystery series that saw a group of passengers simply disappear mid-flight and land five and a half years later as if no time had passed. In light of its possibility, Peacock quickly added to its catalog a show with a similar potential that was almost equally popular. Now that it's premiered on Netflix, the Canadian series Departure is once again seeing a rise in its popularity.

Depending on how you look at it, Departure can even be considered a sort of "sister" series to Manifest. The story centers around the Tsif (Transport Safety and Investigations Bureau), an entity that investigates and tries to understand the cause of major airline disasters.

HBO Max broke up with Love Life in 2022, but the Anna Kendrick-led series is getting another shot this summer. Netflix announced plans to pick up the romantic comedy anthology and start streaming in August.

Love Life didn't exactly take the streaming world by storm during its two seasons on HBO Max. However, critics and fans alike appreciated the charm brought by season 1 led Anna Kendrick and season 2 star William Jackson Harper. A supporting cast that included Zoë Chao, Jessica Williams, and Punkie Johnson pushed Love Life to a 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes for the final season.

However, HBO canceled the series in December 2022. The streamer took things a step further and completely removed Love Life from the service. Reports at the time indicated financial reasons motivated the decision, as the romcom joined a list of several other projects dropped from HBO Max.

It became nearly impossible to stream the 20 episodes beyond paying for video-on-demand.

Fans of shows like Homelandand Manifest from across the globe are watching this five-year-old Peacock original mystery thriller. The Canadian series, Departure, which aired for three seasons, is gaining ground on the global streaming charts. Per FlixPatrol, Departure is in the Number 10 spot in Netflix’s Global Top 10 as of July 5.

Globally, Netflix’s Squid Gameis topping the charts with The Sandman, Attack on London: Hunting the 7/7 Bombers, The Waterfront, and Olympo rounding out the Top 5.

Departure stars Archie Panjabi, who won an Emmy in 2010 for her role in The Good Wife, and the late Christopher Plummer, who won an Oscar in 2012 for Beginners, and starred in movies like The Sound of Music, Knives Out, and Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country.The cast also features Mark Rendall, Kris Holden-Reid, and Eric McCormack.

Despite a busy schedule of globetrotting for Jurassic World Rebirth, actress Luna Blaise is all smiles.

The 23-year-old, who joins the iconic franchise as almost-college student Teresa in the latest Jurassic installment, has been taking the entire experience in. “I felt like I was at the masterclass,” Blaise tells The Hollywood Reporter on a Friday morning Zoom weeks before the film’s release.

The actress, whose past credits include a series regular role on NBC-turned-Netflix fan favorite Manifest, prides herself on having worked hard to get where she is, and she doesn’t plan to stop anytime soon.

Below, Blaise speaks with THR about Jurassic World Rebirth, taking any opportunity she can to be onset, and where she sees herself going in the future.

Manifest actress Luna Blaise has landed herself a great role in the upcoming Jurassic World sequel, Jurassic World Rebirth. In the film, she appears as Teresa Delgado, the daughter of Reuben Delgado, played by Manuel Garcia-Rulfo. The film will be her first major on-screen project, as she has appeared mainly in TV shows, short films, and minor roles in small films.

She started acting professionally at the age of five. She did many commercials for brands including McDonald’s, KFC, Dunkin Hines, Target, and Gap. She appeared in the independent film, Memoria, executive produced by James Franco. Her network television debut came in ABC’s Fresh Off the Boat, where she played the recurring role of Nicole Ellis.

In 2018, she was cast as Olive Stone in the NBC supernatural thriller, Manifest. She is also a trained dancer, with ten years of experience in Russian ballet. She also had a musical career.

It didn't take too long for Universal Pictures to decide it was time to bring dinosaurs back to the big screen once again. Just three years after "Jurassic World Dominion," which was set up as something of a conclusion for the series, another new movie is headed to theaters this week in the form of "Jurassic World Rebirth." Directed by Gareth Edwards, it's being billed as a new beginning for the long-running franchise. But is it going to be a one-off? Or is this movie setting up more to come?

Admittedly, credits scenes haven't been a big thing in the "Jurassic" movies over the years, though 2018's "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" did have a post-credits scene that helped tease what we would see in "Dominion." So, does "Rebirth" have any such scenes that audiences need to be aware of? Do fans need to stay during the credits for this one?...

Shortly after Netflix announced the exciting Ransom Canyon season 2 renewal news, Once Upon a Time and Manifest star Josh Dallas threw his cowboy hat in the ring to appear in the new season. Netflix's modern Western romantic drama series Ransom Canyon features a sprawling, multi-generational ensemble cast led by Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly. Now entering its eighth edition, Filming Italy Sardegna is gearing up for what looks set to be its buzziest event to date. Founded by Tiziana Rocca, the film and television event kicks off June 19, 2025, at Forte Village in Cagliari, Sardinia.

Jeremiah Fraites, co-founder and songwriter of the Grammy-nominated alternative folk band The Lumineers, has composed the score for The Long Walk, Variety has learned.

Based on Stephen King‘ 1979 novel of the same name, The Long Walk is directed by Francis Lawrence and written by Jt Mollner (Strange Darling).

“Francis [Lawrence] and I had a really great initial phone call that helped inform what instrumentation we thought would work,” commented Fraites. “Strings and piano felt right in servicing the expected horror you’d find in Stephen King canon. The real challenge for me was going to be writing music that would properly represent the deep relationships these boys were forming while on this brutal walk.”

“We met years ago when the band the Lumineers did a song for the [The Hunger Games] Catching Fire soundtrack — Jeremiah and I had remained friends after that, and stayed in contact,” added Lawrence. “He’d send me vinyl versions...

With the global press tour getting underway today, Universal Pictures have debuted a brand new 90-second trailer that offers an extended look at two key sequences from the upcoming Gareth Edwards-directed dino sequel, specifically a terrifying sequence with the Mutadons and another look at that Spinosaurus encounter, which looks like it won't be going so well for one member of the cast...

Over the next two weeks, the global press tour will take the principal cast, including our new lead trio of Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, and Jonathan Bailey to London, Berlin, New York, Shanghai, and Seoul.

On Friday, Pixar dazzled crowds at this year’s Annecy Animation Festival in France with exclusive news about the studio’s upcoming slate of animated features. The show began with another look at Elio, the alien invasion comedy from directors Adrian Molina, Domee Shi, and Madeline Sharafian. Revival is a supernatural mystery horror thriller drama series co-created by Aaron B. Koontz and Luke Boyce. Based on the comic book series of the same name by Tim Seeley and Mike Norton, the Syfy series is set in a rural Wisconsin town as a mysterious event known as the “Revival Day” takes place, which saw the resurrection of recently deceased people. After Robert Jordan passed away in 2007, the task of completing The Wheel of Time novels went to writer Brandon Sanderson, who rose to prominence thanks to his Mistborn collection of books. Now, following the cancellation of the live-action series on Prime Video after its "best season," the fantasy author is speaking out to give his thoughts on the matter.

Sanderson picked up The Wheel of Time novels from Jordan after his death, completing the final three books in the epic saga, with the last one, A Memory of Light, published in 2013. Despite his connection to the story, Sanderson says he "wasn't really involved" in the Prime Video series, and that his name was used "for legitimacy." In a video posted to his YouTube channel, a fan asked in the comments if he had anything to say about The Wheel of Time being canceled, and the author responded:

Amazon canceled The Wheel of Time, its epic fantasy TV series based on the books by Robert Jordan, a couple of weeks ago, about a month after airing the season 3 finale. It was rotten timing, since the show got cut off in the middle of the story after airing what was easily its best season so far.

There have been a lot of reactions since then; some cast wistfully said goodbye while others seemed (playfully) angry. The show's passionate fans immediately got to work trying to save the show, circulating a petition and buying billboards in the hopes that Amazon would reverse its decision or another network or streaming service would continue the show. Showrunner Rafe Judkins has admitted that the odds of the show coming back from this are long, but he's not completely out of hope. It’s been less than a month since word first broke that Amazon had decided to cancel its beloved fantasy series The Wheel of Time after three seasons, but the fans have quickly picked up their swords to fight to save the show.

Fans have been doing everything in their power to try to save the series, launching an active fan campaign in support of the show. Over 130,000 fans have signed a petition fighting to get the show renewed for season 4, and over $22,000 has been raised to help with the campaign efforts, with the goal being to use the funds to amplify the campaign. This has included the purchase of billboards in support of the Save Wheel of Time campaign, the first of these billboards debuting in Times Square on June 6.

It goes without saying that fans aren’t giving up on the show and it seems neither neither is its showrunner.

Prime Video seemed to be completely invested in bringing several big fantasy franchises to life when they commissioned both The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power and The Wheel of Time. It therefore came as a huge shock when The Wheel of Time was not renewed for a fourth season, and it seems like the thousands of fans hoping the series will be picked up by another streamer may have to prepare themselves for the worst, according to a new report.

Based on the novels by Robert Jordan, The Wheel of Time debuted on Prime Video in 2021 to reasonable enough reviews, but it seems that over the course of its three seasons it did not do enough for Prime Video to want to continue pumping money into what is a costly project. This was the exact reason Prime Video gave for the cancellation, saying it was a “strictly monetary” decision.

One of the most popular science fiction shows on Netflix, a show which seemingly ended back in 2023, is apparently “not dead yet,” according to its creator. The streamer has become infamous for quickly and unceremoniously dropping the cancellation axe on TV shows before they get a chance to really find an audience. However, alongside this, the platform has also saved shows from other networks. And such was the case with the hit supernatural drama, Manifest.

Created by Jeff Rake and debuting its first season back in 2018, Manifest features a large ensemble cast that includes Melissa Roxburgh, Josh Dallas, Athena Karkanis, J. R. Ramirez, Luna Blaise, Jack Messina, Parveen Kaur, Matt Long, and Holly Taylor, among others, and details the mystery behind Flight 828, which suddenly disappeared...before reappearing just as suddenly five years later.

Well, consider our curiosity piqued and our hopes all the way up! All it takes is one little social media post from Manifest creator Jeff Rake, which only consists of three words, for fans to have renewed faith that either season 5, a continuation movie, or some sort of spinoff could be in the works. Rake shared his message one year after the show's official Death Date, making it even more loaded.

On June 2, Rake took to social media and said: "Not dead yet." He included an emoji wearing sunglasses and the Manifest hashtag. Clearly, he's up to something, but we just don't know what he's up to yet. Ever since Manifest completed its run with the second half of its fourth and final season on June 2, 2023, Rake has been teasing a continuation.

The series finale was quite the jaw-dropping game-changer, as the Flight 828 passengers returned back to the day their flight took off.

Harjes (pictured above on the aforementioned NBC drama) died at Mount Sinai West Hospital in New York City due to complications from cancer, which he was diagnosed with in the winter, according to the star’s spokesperson.

Representatives for Harjes have not yet provided additional details about his illness.

“He was an artist of great conviction who never gave less than one hundred percent to any role he undertook,” his representative said in a statement.

“As a person, he was generous, kind, understanding and devoted to his family and friends, a great horseback rider and had a magic way with all animals.”
