This was a terrible movie. Nothing fun about it yet it's supposed to be a romcom. It was supposed to give Think like a man but came of as a failed attempt at a highschool play. The actors were terribly bad at acting especially the main actress Brenda( the actors at alliance
Française can do a better job than that) Most of the cast was completely irrelevant to the storyline and had no role in the movie. The character development of the cast was missing... Like why should I care about people who I know nothing about. We are just shown people crying and laughing with no real depth to what they are or who they are and why they are the way they are. The script was shallow and didn't make sense. The comedy part of the movie I failed to find funny because they weren't even convincing enough to be funny especially Pascal ( it seemed so forced and cringeworthy). The make out scene between Nick and Bridget was really fake and there was no build up chemistry in the scene between them before they made out. Overall the acting was not convincing. The directing was poor and the director should find another job hii imemshinda. So far I give this movie a 1/10 and that just because I can't score a 0/10. And Kenyans should stop being excited about such mediocre acting and expect more.(BTW why do they keep recycling washed up actors when there is real talent put here, sad)
Movies like these are what we need as a growing industry in Kenya. Great story, Super awesome cast. Keep it up Tosh!
Thank God the person who wrote the dialog script. Catherine Kamau is one of the best supporting actress like ever. Pascal Tokodi, may you get more roles in the future and always do improv. I can literally mentioned all actors but i can only save the best for last. Brenda and Nick you guys rock..
The disconnect is the plot with any sense of logic. The story is all over the place. It is hard to keep track of who is who because the girls keep changing wigs and the men do strange homosexual acts, but they are supposedly heterosexual. The curse words are out of control. Can't even try to enjoy this movie because the language is so fowl. The characters are cursing in every sentence, but aren't making any point. The good note of this movie; the resort featured is absolutely beautiful. There are a few good comedic moments speckled throughout. The movie is not over 2 hours. Not worth watching.
Right, well I had never heard about this 2018 Kenyan romantic comedy titled "Disconnect". But of course I opted to sit down and watch it, as I had the opportunity here in 2022.
I can't claim that writers Natasha Likimani and Silas Miami managed to put together a storyline and script that appealed to me. The movie felt like it was aimed solely at a female audience. So I wasn't getting any entertainment value out of this movie.
I wasn't familiar with the cast ensemble here, as this was my first Kenyan movie ever. And I can't say that it was because of the actresses or actors that the movie didn't appeal to me, because the cast did put on adequate enough performances. It was solely the storyline that fell short of finding any appeal with me.
If you enjoy the sugar-rushed sappy romantic comedy genre, spruced up with the ilk of "Sex and the City", then perhaps you should give "Disconnect" a chance. Perhaps this movie from directors David 'Tosh' Gitonga and Michael Jones will be something worthwhile for you.
My rating of "Disconnect" lands on a generous three out of ten stars.
