Thakkol

I'm not sure what the makers wanted to convey with Thakkol (Key), a messy film which has some good qualities hidden in it, but which in its current state is best left unwatched. TN.

" Thakkol " Malayalam movie.

This is the story of Fr. Ambrose ...his childhood, his life in theology, his life as the junior priest of a stubborn and very strict senior, his home coming as the head priest of his home town and his piles... Yes his PILES ( Haemorrhoids).

This drama genre movie turns into a mystery after the priest's homecoming.... The search of a lock, that could be opened with a specific KEY ( Thakkol ).

The whole presentation has a overtone of biblical theme and deals with the hierarchy of the church and it's padres.

Photography is mostly in portrait mode, rich and visual treat. Storyline maintains some amount of suspense, which lacks it's punch.

Murali Gopi and Indrajith did well, on screen, as senior and junior priests.

7 on 10 for this 'barely watchable' presentation.

Screenplay was prolonged, unnecessarily, at lots of areas. It also took, lots of time to affix the characteristics of main characters.

Piles or Haemorrhoids... Whatever name you, this malady, the suffering was clear on the face of Indrajith, throughout the presentation.

The movie is a thriller and the first half deals with the childhood and precent of indarajith (Ambrose) and leaves a mistery element in first half and the second half is half voltage thriller and put forward a lot of questions which makes us feel like a big suspense is waiting but the movie ends without answering all the questions-LAG,POOR SCRIPT,POOR BGM BELOW AVERAGE

The film Thakkol, directed by Kiron Prabhakar, can be classified as a cinematic work belonging to the thriller drama genres.

The narrative chronicles the character Ambros, who has been working as a junior priest and servant of Father Paul Mangunnath since childhood. Mangunnath is depicted as a very strict person, causing Ambros to fear him even as a child. He is portrayed as a slave to Mangunnath. When the church in Pochampalli requires a new priest, Kuzhimattattil Clement, a famous figure, recommends Ambros. Despite reservations about the role, Ambros assumed the position, leading to a rift with Paul Mangunnath, who vehemently opposed the move. In Pochampalli, Ambros confronted several challenges, including the untimely demise of Clement and his close friend, who left Ambros with a crucial clue. This prompted Ambros to embark on a quest to unravel the enigma surrounding the key. Concurrently, Ambros encountered his childhood love, Sara, who had been divorced and was raising a son. Sara's struggle with depression and her attempt to end her own life underscored the depth of her anguish over past transgressions. Subsequently, Ambros becomes privy to the narrative underlying the key. Clement has bequeathed his wealth to Ambros, who has stored the documents in a bank locker, the key to which is also in Ambros's possession. Thereafter, Ambros establishes an oncological treatment centre with the bequeathed wealth and appoints Sara's son as his servant and junior priest.

The narrative, however, is of a substandard quality, lacking in cohesion, and the direction is inconsistent. The performances and musical scores, on the other hand, are satisfactory, and the film is not intended for a one time watching.
