Abandoned by his father at the age of five and raised in near isolation by a loving yet emotionally unstable and over-protective mother, the only life Peel Munter has ever known is within the confines of his childhood home. Upon his mama's sudden and unexpected death, 30-year-old Peel is left, lost and utterly alone. With no job, family, or friends, he must make a choice; live and die as his mother did, lonely and unsettled, or change the course of his impending fate by breaking out into the unknown to face the trials and tribulations of an outside world he does not understand.

Unable to make the house payments, Peel decides to take in a couple of drifters as roommates. After forging what seems to be a burgeoning new family and brotherhood, one of the roommates betrays Peel's trust compelling Peel to suddenly venture out, in search of his long lost brothers who had been taken away from him decades ago. Along the way, Peel's lack of cynicism and innocence has an inadvertent, yet powerful effect on those he meets, as he brings a group of marginalized misfits closer to their true home.

Really good movie!

Really touching storing. Reminded me a lot of my family growing up so very relatable characters. The acting was fantastic. Great blend of humor and drama. Very lovely photography as well.

Back Yard Pool !

I just saw this film at the Santa Barbara Intl Film Fest. The director and some of the actors and production team were on hand after for a q and a ?? Peel played by Emile Hirsch lives with his mother. His Father ran off with his 2 older brothers when he was very young. He has a very close relationship with his Mother, played by Amy Brenneman ,but when she dies he decides to try and locate his lost brothers and rents out a room in his house to finance the search. Peel is kinda different from most folks so his new roommates try to take advantage of him but also coach him on girls and things. A really attractive Asian girl likes Peel. So the journey to find his brothers begins. I will not spoil it with how the story plays out, but will say Bravo enjoyed the Film and characters ! Big applause at end from audience

A must see gem of a movie. Brilliantly paced and crafted. Acting top notch, almost faultless.

A subtle, nuanced coming-of-age story

Think "Being There" with a dose of "Napoleon Dynamite", this beautiful film is an homage to the human condition and our struggle to belong. The performances are nuanced and restrained while managing to deliver a powerful emotional punch. I was left with the undeniable feeling that we are all truly "enough"; that it is okay to come as we are. That we can be loved regardless of our idiosyncrasies and weaknesses. If you are open to its subtle messages and quiet, teachable moments you too will be astounded by its impact.

A good time and worth seeing.

What a shame almost no one on this planet saw this movie as of now. It didn't get a proper release, but it should have. Peel is a low-budget indie film with a bunch of heart and very good performances, and it doesn't try too hard to be emotional. Emile Hirsch is great in this.

Overall there was potential here for an even better story but it's worth seeing still and I definitely recommend it to anyone who likes a cute and fun flick with something to say. It's a good time.

where Peel goes to visit his brother Sam for the second time, Roy is smoking in the car and the cigarette is on its last couple of drags, the camera switches to an exterior shot, the cigarette is longer than it was in the scene before it.
