Quality, but

Best Romanian series I've seen in a long time, possibly ever.

My only beef with it is some weird car rides in the city (going for long rides from one place only to end up in pretty much the same place as before when you're supposedly in a hurry - but I get that it's a work of FICTION, don't you worry about that) and some weird lines here and there. But it's really good! And it gets better and better as it progresses. The plot is unexpectedly believable.

I've seen people give this a low rating and complain that it's not based in Ramnicu Valcea (supposedly the REAL Hackerville), which is pretty funny to me since I live in Timisoara and saw a neighbour on the news getting arrested for hacking into the Pentagon server a while back but whatever. Just because it's not the REAL Hackerville doesn't mean it isn't good. It's a title. And it's just the first season. Feels like it could go Valcea at any moment.

Halfway through the season it starts to feel undercooked tho. And the ending is weird. Alright peace.

Unexpected

I saw the second season from "Umbre" a couple of days ago and I gave this one a chance. From the first episode it seems pretty catchy with good acting and a nice story, inspired somehow from the reality. After the second episode, I can say that for sure I will watch it until the end and I recommend to you also.

Lovely series...

One of the best and attractive hacking series in era of technology... story could be better and more complete.... unlike the title and the theme that movie impose us... we can't feel enough presence of advanced hacking scenes... but characters are great ... and all recommend this series to all...

Illogical Story, Bad Acting

Such a waste of time. Watching this really made us angry.

The Actress of the main protagonist Lisa is absolutely bad acting. No Matter what happens, she does not show ANY emotion in her face.

The story is too illogical, some background-stories added obviously only for some "drama". The decisions of the police team (Protagonists) are damn ridicolous.

Not talking about these "Hacking" scenes with exploding smartphones......

Extremely disappointed. ._.

Worst depiction of "hacking" in years

This must be one of the worst scenes depicting a "hacker attack" in recent years
  • with all screens showing lines of green text and servers actually exploding. I simply can't watch a show that is about hacking where the the showrunners can't even get this half-right.

Unexpectedly interesting

There were no bombs, terrorists, FBI, war. But they coulmake it exciting in a mid-sized city with normal cops. There weren't genius good cops, but no idiot police with smart criminal hero either. There isn't a good side with talented and a bad side with idiots like in many Tv shows. The actors weren't the best tho. Hackers weren't some international criminals, not conspirators. It feels it could neraly happen in reality.👍

Timisoara = hackerville

Dont really belive the other review, Ramnicu Valcea they re self proclamed hackerville, but we all know that in Timisoara they're the most smart and skilled hackers, so the location is good. Timisoara guys they shut up and do it, Valcea guys talk much and do nothing

Hackerville is a must-watch

Hackerville is a gripping cyber-thriller series that blends crime, technology, and cultural contrasts into an engaging narrative. With an excellent script, solid direction, and a talented cast, the show stands out as one of the most well-executed European (Romanian) productions in recent years.

Story & Scenario The plot revolves around a major cyber-attack on a German bank, leading investigators to Romania - Lisa Metz (German police investigator, of Romanian origin) where a group of hackers is suspected. What follows is a high-stakes chase through the underground world of cybercrime, set against the backdrop of Timisoara's urban landscape. The scenario is masterfully crafted, blending tension, mystery, and social commentary. The pacing keeps viewers engaged, with well-placed twists that avoid clichés and instead deliver a fresh take on the hacker genre.

Casting & Performances One of Hackerville's greatest strengths is its cast. One of Hackerville's biggest strengths is its casting. Andi Vasluianu, in the role of Romanian cop Sandor, delivers a charismatic and grounded performance. His portrayal of a street-smart, no-nonsense officer adds authenticity to the series, making him a perfect contrast to Lisa's methodical German approach. The chemistry between them brings an extra layer of realism, with sharp dialogue and natural interactions.

Cipi, played by an outstanding young actor, steals the show as the genius, tech-savvy hacker. His character is layered and engaging-caught between the excitement of his digital skills and the dangers that come with them. His vulnerability and intelligence make him a compelling focal point of the story.

Supporting roles are equally strong, bringing authenticity to the series. The dynamic between investigators and local law enforcement adds a layer of realism, and the Romanian setting is used effectively, giving the show a distinctive atmosphere. The show doesn't just focus on hacking; it also gives us a bit of a nostalgic/eerie feeling, reminiscing the former communist era in Romania, anti-communist resistance, and giving us a glimpse of the fight against corruption, and organized crime.

Final Verdict With a compelling story, a well-crafted scenario, and excellent performances-especially from Andi Vasluiani and the supporting cast-Hackerville is a must-watch. It manages to combine cyber-thriller elements with strong character development, making it both exciting and emotionally engaging. Fans of crime dramas and tech-savvy thrillers will find Hackerville to be a refreshing and high-quality production.

A Soap Opera with a childish script and terrible acting!

This series is really an embarrassment to any streaming site. It's impossible to understand what type of audience this would have any appeal. The dialog is childish, and the story completely illogical. The scenes lack any continuity and events just seem to happen without any explanation, back story or context. Hopefully there will be no more seasons!

Absolutely unrealistic, poor research!

If you write a plot about hackers, you should at least get some consulting from a bunch of it-guys... couldn't be more unrealistic :( I can't bear another episode!

Interesting title, sadly thats all

I was intrigued when I found this title, sadly it has as much to do with real world as NCIS. If someone is doing a series about hacking, they should compare execution to Mr. Robot or higher. This series is bad to me.

Very very bad.

Not that I had big expectations from a Romanian tv production, but the horrible, unrealistic script is doubled down by the ridiculous acting by Vasluianu and the female counterpart (Anna Schumacher). Watching it feels like punishment, and I can't help but wondering who spent money on financing such a ludicrous project. Complete waste of time.

Bad bad bad

Very lame story from Hbo Europe, I don't get why they invest money in such stupid scriptwriting and acting. Every depiction and action of hacking, police work, bad guys is simply unrealistic and ridiculous. A big waste of time and resources.

Great story but a wrong place

The original "Hackerville" is based in Ramnicu Valcea, Romania, not Timisoara, Romania. This amazing story could be even better with the correct city that would give an ultra-realistic sense. Ten stars for the script itself and one for the placement. Five out of ten, here we go.
