As the likes of All Elite Wrestling and World Wrestling Entertainment have become fully fledged entertainment brands, rather than just wrestling promotions, it's become more common to see the in-ring performers make the jump to Hollywood -- and no, not those awful movies like "The Chaperone," "The Marine 6: Close Quarters," or any of Hulk Hogan's questionable straight-to-video offerings. You only need to look at how Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns were cast in major roles as Guile and Akuma respectively in Kitao Sakurai's "Street Fighter" reboot movie. In the past, they may have been credited as Thug #1 and Thug #2 in some random action scene.
Considering how wacky the world of pro wrestling is, it's no surprise to see it cross over much more with comic book movies and TV shows. After all, pro wrestlers are simply superheroes in skimpier tights and with their own catchphrases -- and...

Harrison Ford made his MCU debut in Captain America: Brave New World, a Marvel Studios movie that likely underwent more extensive reshoots than any before it.
We don't know how much President "Thunderbolt" Ross' role changed during those, but it seems The Leader and Serpent Society were the biggest victims of any additional photography. At least one alternate ending was considered for Red Hulk, as the world was supposed to believe he was dead following his battle with Captain America.
However, a post-credits scene would have shown him watching his daughter, Betty Ross, from afar. Instead, the former Commander-in-Chief was imprisoned inside The Raft after taking accountability for his actions.
Variety recently spoke with Ford and asked if Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has "convinced you" to make an MCU return. To that, the legendary actor bluntly responded, "Nope."

Hollywood is in a major period of transition right now. The streaming era has completely upended just about every entertainment company's business model. Studios are trying to figure out how to have success at the box office while also prioritizing streaming services, which are undoubtedly the future. Netflix generated more revenue in 2024 than the global box office in its entirety. Marvel Studios, once a dominant force at the box office, isn't immune to the need for change, and a lot of that change is about finding ways to make movies cheaper. Interestingly, an underseen sci-fi movie from 2023 is helping them solve that equation.
During a recent press conference (via Deadline), Marvel Studios head honcho Kevin Feige spoke about a wide range of topics as "The Fantastic Four: First Steps" arrives and looks to save the studio's rough year at the box office.

Like a lot of "X-Men" fans, "X-Men: First Class" is one of my favorite movies in the whole franchise; it's a step above "Logan" for me and a small step below "X2." But although I found "First Class" to be a thrilling (and refreshing) change of pace when it first came out, there's one scene that always bugged me: the one where the villain murders Darwin (Edi Gathegi), a mutant whose whole thing is that he can't die.
Making it stranger was the racial element: Darwin was the only Black man in the group, and he was murdered simply as a quick method for Sebastian Shaw (Kevin Bacon) to flex his powers. You might think some fans are looking too deeply into it by bringing up Darwin's race, but it's the movie that brings it up first. Shaw gives a speech to the young mutants urging them to join his...

The George A. Romero / Stephen King horror anthology Creepshow is one of my all-time favorite movies – and so is the Michael Gornick-directed sequel Creepshow 2, which I’ve probably watched even more times than its predecessor. I love everything about Creepshow 2, so I was very glad to hear the news that Arrow Video is giving the film a 4K Uhd release in the US, the UK, and Canada. The release date is September 30th, and copies can be pre-ordered through a variety of links (check out the list on Arrow Video’s Facebook page), including This One.
Directed by Gornick from a screenplay by George A. Romero (based on stories written by Stephen King), Creepshow 2 has the following synopsis: Join our old friend, the rotting Creep himself, as he introduces this horror anthology which presents gruesome looks at three tales of horror: a hit-and-run driver in “The Hitchhiker...

Although Tom Holland didn't make his debut as Peter Parker until Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he will surely go down as one of its biggest stars -- right alongside Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Chadwick Boseman, and Chris Hemsworth. Across a trilogy of solo films and appearances in three major team-up movies, he's made a case for himself as the best to ever play Spider-Man on the big screen, though Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire still have their supporters, of course.
With the official announcement that a new Holland "Spider-Man" movie titled "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" is on the way, it's as good a time as any to look back at what he's already done. For the purposes of this ranking, we're taking into account both the films as independent entities and their use of Spider-Man. That doesn't mean that a movie featuring very little Spidey...

Thunderbolts* Writer Reveals Scrapped Post-Credits Scene And Baron Zemo's Scrapped Role In The Movie
In the comic books, Baron Zemo assembles the Thunderbolts when The Avengers go missing. However, while his team is secretly a group of supervillains masquerading as heroes, they eventually decided to put their evildoing ways behind them and became heroes.
There have been other iterations of the group, but Marvel Studios' Thunderbolts* is very much its own thing. That's evident from the absence of Daniel Brühl's Baron Zemo, the Captain America: Civil War villain who was brought more in line with his comic book counterpart in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.
It turns out that in an earlier draft of Thunderbolts*, Zemo was going to be revealed as the one pulling the strings in a post-credits scene. Talking to Screen Rant, writer Eric Pearson explained how the villain once factored into the story.

This post contains spoilers for Marvel's "Thunderbolts*."
After several years of wondering what Marvel's newest team was going to look like, we need no longer wonder as "Thunderbolts*" is in theaters as we speak. Director Jake Schreier has brought the team to life on the big screen to bring Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe to a close ... kind of. What did that asterisk in the film's title mean, exactly? While this may be a bit of an oversimplification, it essentially meant we weren't watching a movie about the Thunderbolts at all.
As we come to learn by the end of "Thunderbolts*," that asterisk existed because the team in the movie was actually introduced to the world as the New Avengers. That's right! Marvel pulled a fast one on us. The team consisting of Yelena Belova, Ghost, John Walker, Red Guardian, and Bucky Barnes is the New Avengers and not the Thunderbolts.

Aside from the bad guys that have been snapped out of existence or died horrible deaths, some Marvel Cinematic Universe villains have simply ended up finding themselves behind bars. To keep them in check, these menaces to society and superheroes have been sent to The Raft, a supermax prison planted slap bang in the middle of the ocean just by Ryker's Island. It was first introduced in "Captain America: Civil War," when those who opposed the Sokovia Accords were bagged and tagged in fancy prison threads, only to be swiftly broken free by Steve Rogers (Chris Evans). Since then, we've seen some real lawbreakers get trapped on that rock with no way off unless someone gives the go-ahead. But the MCU is a big place, and following the events of "Captain America: Brave New World," the facility is only getting more crowded.

Captain America: Brave New World has drawn a mixed response from fans and critics alike. However, the majority seem to agree that Harrison Ford's take on President Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross was a win, as was the rampaging Red Hulk.
The villain was only unleashed for around 10 minutes in the movie but still made a lasting impact. Marvel Studios also left the door open to Ford reprising the role in a future MCU project, though it remains to be seen whether that's as part of the Avengers franchise or World War Hulk.
Today, Hot Toys has officially unveiled its Red Hulk 1/6th scale action figure. Based on Ford's likeness, this thing is a beast and should look suitably formidable in any fan's collection.

In the closing moments of Captain America: Brave New World, Red Hulk reverts to his human form as President Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross and is later imprisoned in The Raft. However, having taken account for his past actions, Ross is finally reunited with his estranged daughter, Betty.
A recent leak claimed that the movie originally ended with the world believing the President had died. However, a post-credits scene was set to reveal that Red Hulk was still out there and watching over Betty.
Talking to Variety, Captain America: Brave New World director Julius Onah was asked outright if Ross ever died in an earlier version of the movie.

When it comes to modern horror, few creators compare to Stephen King. As one of the most frequently-adapted authors in history, his popular stories have been transformed into some of the most successful genre films out there. However, they can't all be masterpieces, and many of them don't live up to their strong starts. This list contains ten of the best Stephen King films that just couldn't stick the landing.
Each of these famous adaptations, sequels, prequels, and remakes has something to offer, but their conclusions hold them back from greatness. Sometimes it's the filmmaker's mistake, some endings have just aged poorly, and sometimes fans must accept that even Stephen King is fallible. This list of flawed but fascinating films helps illuminate what makes a great story, and how easy it is to fall short of perfection — even for the master.

Captain America: Brave New World ended with a vague tease for Avengers: Doomsday. During a tense exchange with Samuel Sterns in The Raft, the villain warned Sam Wilson that "it's coming" and said he'd "seen it in the probabilities."
"All you heroes protecting this world. Do you think you're the only ones? Do you think this is the only world?" The Leader asked the hero. "We'll see what happens when you have to protect this place...from the others." Who or what are the "others"?
Well, some fans believe it might have been the Council of Kangs, especially as much of this movie was shot when Avengers: Doomsday was still called Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. We've also seen suggestions that it's simply the heroes (or villains) from another reality who will battle Earth-616's Mightiest Heroes when an Incursion occurs.

In Captain America: Brave New World's sole post-credits scene, Sam Wilson visits The Leader in The Raft and receives a vague warning about a Multiversal threat and the "others" coming to Earth-616.
Even mainstream media outlets have deemed it Marvel Studios' worst post-credits scene. Meanwhile, the response from fans has been mixed to negative at best (a shame seeing as an Avengers: Doomsday tease should have blown everyone's minds).
Talking to Collider, Captain America: Brave New World director Julius Onah explained that it was always the plan to forego a mid-credits scene in preference of a single Cap-centric final tease.
"It was always the case that what felt organic for this movie was just leaning into a post-credits sequence that could tease what's coming next," the filmmaker said. "We wanted to tease it in a way that didn't become too explicit. This is about introducing Sam as our new Captain America.

Presented by Neon’s The Monkey, Bloody Disgusting is celebrating this Friday’s release of Osgood Perkins’ highly anticipated horror with Stephen King Week. Yesterday, Luiz H. C. catalogues his cursed objects. and today, Rachel Reeves dusts off other adaptations from King’s Skeleton Crew.
For some, it was Michael J. Fox holding a copy of Skeleton Crew for his 1988 Read campaign poster that first inspired a read of the Stephen King short story collection. For others, the killer, record-breaking trailer for Neon’s new film The Monkey, written and directed by Osgood Perkins, instigated fingers to flip through pages. Whatever the inciting incident that introduced one to Skeleton Crew, the fact remains that it is a certified Constant Reader classic and a treasure trove of cinematic, eerie, and unsettling tales.
Since the initial release of Skeleton Crew in 1985, several stories have found their way to the screen, with varying degrees of success.

In the ’70s and early ’80s, perhaps the only thing that Stephen King liked more than a child with a psychic gift/curse was an inanimate object that becomes possessed by evil. A car, HGVs and even a laundry press lurched into life to wreak destruction, and all of these mechanical menaces made their inexorable way from page to screen, directed by John Carpenter (Christine), King himself and Tobe Hooper (The Mangler).
The Monkey, first published by Gallery magazine in 1980 and revised to feature in King’s 1985 collection of short stories Skeleton Crew, located genuine revulsion and terror in a wind-up toy. Eyes shining with “idiot glee” and lips pulled back in a “carnivorous” grin, the hirsute curio shuddered to life to clap its cymbals… and Death danced. The monkey was, in short, evil incarnate.

Writer-director Osgood Perkins will wind up and let loose The Monkey into theaters nationwide this Friday, February 21st. Neon‘s star-studded Stephen King adaptation is one of the most hyped horror films of the year, having broken records on YouTube and nabbing the stamp of approval from King himself. Our own Meagan Navarro calls it “a delightfully deranged crowd pleaser,” and the early reactions are a strong indication that she’s 100% right.

Captain America: Brave New World underwent many changes during reshoots and we may never know what Marvel Studios originally had planned for Sam Wilson's first solo adventure.
The movie isn't anywhere near as bad as some would have you believe (you can read our review here). Plus, for those of you curious to see where the new Captain America's story will go from here, it definitely delivers. In fact, there are several teases which could be important for the remainder of the Multiverse Saga...and beyond.
In this feature, we're taking a closer look at how Captain America: Brave New World sets up the McU's future. That extends beyond just the post-credits scene as there are some big hints scattered throughout.

Captain America: Brave New World only has one post-credits scene and, well, we might as well kick things off by letting you know that it's far from Marvel Studios' best effort.
It begins with Sam Wilson in The Raft; his arm isn't in a sling, so this clearly isn't happening around the same time he visited President Ross. The Leader, now locked up, asks Cap if he wants to know something funny, though the hero has little interest in sharing a joke after all the good people the villain killed during his quest for revenge.
"We share the same world, don't we?" Samuel Sterns asks. "This world you would die to save. It's coming. I've seen it in the probabilities, seen it plain as day. All you heroes protecting this world. Do you think you're the only ones? Do you think this is the only world? We'll see what happens...

Fresh off adapting a Stephen King short story with The Monkey, writer-director Osgood Perkins reveals his favorite Stephen King works in the video below.
“Creepshow was always something that I found really delightful and playful and sort of profane in a really charming way. I love the original comic book with the Bernie Wrightson illustrations, of course,” the filmmaker says.
“Misery always struck me as a really fun book, a really fun read. That was one of the first things that I remember reading of Stephen King’s as a kid. I was probably about 15 or 14 or so, and I read Misery and really got a kick out of that.
“And then the way the movie was treated too, with a lot of humor. Misery is a very amusing– It’s dark, but it’s played with a light touch, and I really appreciated that.”
He continues, “My father [tt0054215 autoPsycho...

Stephen King has written about 65 books at this point, and by the time you finish reading this article, it'll probably be 66. Not all of them are winners, but he's batting at such a high average that it's hard to complain. The only problem is that it's a little intimidating for first-time readers to decide where to start with him. Do you go in chronological order, or should you go by whichever book's premise catches your eye the most? And what if your goal is to get as good an idea of King's whole schtick in as little time as possible? If you could only read five books to try to get the widest understanding of Stephen King, what should you pick?
That's a tough question, given King's stories hold a wide range of lengths, tones, and genres, but I'll be answering it anyway. Here's my curated list of five introductory Stephen King books,...

We all know that those little cymbal-crashing toy monkeys are some of the creepiest items to ever hit the market. They just look evil, so it’s no wonder that Stephen King was drawn to them as a source of terror. Now, Osgood Perkins is hoping to do justice to King and the source, with The Monkey arriving in theaters next month. As it turns out, the movie screened just this week. So, did Perkins deliver on the simian scares?
Fortunately for fans of both Stephen King and Osgood Perkins, it looks like The Monkey is just the level of horror fun that will be a crowd pleaser, with those that caught the screening praising it for combining blood and laughs. Check out some of the first reactions to The Monkey below:

Neon has finally released the much-hyped red-band trailer for The Monkey, the latest horror film from Longlegs director Osgood Perkins and producer James Wan. As promised in the list of notes the studio received from the MPA, the new trailer is bloody, brutal, and absolutely bonkers – and yes, there is a death by bowling ball.
Initially planned for release last week, the new red-band trailer for The Monkey has arrived, better late (and bloodier) than never. In recent interviews, Perkins has emphasized that The Monkey is different from his previous films in that the tone is more comedic, describing it as a "morbidly surreal horror comedy that's also heartwarming and redemptive and stars a bona-fide movie hunk." All of which is evident in the new trailer, which has a distinctly dark, absurdist, and violent sense of humor. As for the heartwarming angle? Tbd.

The film’s new poster (below) promises an “outrageously gory” and “thoroughly gratuitous” experience, with instruments of death including a harpoon gun, a bowling ball, a shotgun, a hibachi knife, a lawnmower, and even a stampede of wild horses. Yeah, Osgood Perkins is letting his hair down with this one, going as brutally bonkers as an “R” rating will allow.
From Neon and producer James Wan, The Monkey has indeed been rated “R” for “Strong bloody violent content, gore, language throughout, and some sexual references.”

The plots of many Marvel Studios movies have leaked online in advance thanks to test screenings and it appears we can now add Captain America: Brave New World to the list.
The leak was originally shared on Reddit by a now-deleted account and several social media scoopers have since confirmed it's legitimate. There are some big missing pieces but we now know the overall plot, which MCU characters make cameo appearances, and even the contents of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier sequel's mid-credits scene.
As always, it's best to take this with a pinch of sale and to bear in mind that this was a test screening; they're held to figure out what is and isn't working, so a lot may have changed by next February.

We're officially knee-deep in summer! The 4th of July just happened, and I'm sure some of you are gearing up for a summer vacation. Whether you're staying at home chilling in a tiny inflatable pool or heading out and hitting the beach, summer is a great time to just take it easy and disassociate from your normal, every-day life. It's also a great season for horror. I know there's a certain subset of folks — let's call them "normal people" — who primarily associate horror with autumn and Halloween. In fact, I've met more than one person in my life who has claimed they only watch horror movies around Halloween time. And while I'm not one to judge, I'll say this: why limit yourself? Horror can be celebrated year-round! Especially when there are a whole slew of scary movies set during the summer season. And that's where this month's horror streaming column comes in.

Three horror powerhouses are coming together for The Monkey, an adaptation of the Stephen King story produced by James Wan and directed by Osgood Perkins (Longlegs).
Neon will likely release The Monkey sometime in 2025, but what can you expect from Osgood Perkins’ take on the classic King story? For starters, it’s Nothing like Longlegs.
Perkins tells Bloody Disgusting’s Boo Crew Podcast this week, “It’s gonna feel more like Misery or Creepshow or Gremlins or American Werewolf. It couldn’t be Less like Longlegs. To me, if you’re gonna make a movie about a toy monkey, you can be serious about it. But so much of King is funny and nostalgic feeling. So we tried to make a movie that felt a little bit more like something from the late ’80s – ’90s. It’s sorta like, if Robert Zemeckis had just like a Little bit of acid...

Buyers at the Cannes Market were going bananas for Stephen King adaptation The Monkey, with the bidding war eventually being won out by Neon. While no financial details were made available, Deadline reports that the studio is aiming for a 2025 release.
Filming on The Monkey – which was first published in 1980 and subsequently reprinted in the essential King short story collection Skeleton Crew – wrapped in March. Directed by Oz Perkins (son of Anthony and whose Longlegs is also being distributed by Neon), the movie is notably produced by James Wan and features a cast of Theo James, Elijah Wood, Tatiana Maslany, Sarah Levy, Rohan Campbell, Christian Convery, and Colin O’Brien.
For those unfamiliar with Stephen King’s short story, The Monkey has the following plot: “When twin brothers Hal and Bill discover their father’s old monkey toy in the attic, a series of gruesome deaths starts occurring all around them.
