Erturk's well made debut film unfortunately recreates the style and content of a typical Ceylan film

Cenk Erturk's debut film is very interesting--only if you are not familiar with the works of Nuri Bilge Ceylan.

Erturk recaptures every element of a Ceylan and his wife Ebru Ceylan written script for their recent films. Erturk's "Noah Land" reeks of the structure of Ceylan's "The Wild Pear Tree" (2018) a film like "Noah Land" on how a grown-up man get's to finally reconcile with his father's quirky ideas and actions. Erturk in "Noah Land" even goes to the extent of lassoing the Ceylan thespian of "Winter'Sleep" (2014)--the amazing Haluk Bilginer to play the father figure once again as Ceylan did in his film. Even the Noah tree concept and the small time politics of Turkey hark back to Ceylan's "Once upon a time in Anatolia" (2011).

This is not to rate "Noah Land" as a poor film--it is indeed as good and laudable as a Ceylan film in style and content but unfortunately not unique in any respect if you are familiar with Ceylan's works.

Good work

Good work, perfect shots, acting and script. I think the film could has been longer, some scenes needed more screen time and explanations.

A dramatic and effective story

The talented director Cenk Ertürk made a great job. Acting of all including the village people are great. It is really sad but must watch it.

beautiful

You know the story, the atmosphere, the characters. From Nuri Ceylan filmography but , in same measure, because for a viewer from Balkans, all is obvious familiar. It is a beautiful film. Not surprising but correct in high measure for each detail. A father near his death, his son, return to a village, a disputed tree. And a last scene as support for remember similar many others. Short, just beautiful.

Premature Ceylan-like film

Actors and shots were great. Unfortunately the script was ordinary, nothing special. I can say this film resembles NBC's works a lot, but less philosophy in it for sure and worse screenplay. Even these flaws that i've mentioned, i should say Ertürk did a good job in his debut feature-length film.

I wasn't expecting such an impressive plot

Though it was following footsteps of NBC, still a lot better than I expected. Nice shots, even better actings but the script, the story and how it was told broke all my prejudices that I had before watching the movie. Some dialogues could be stronger but still, a striking debut film. Should follow up.

Classic theme

Father and son conflict; it is a very processed subject. It is difficult to do something creative. The film is successful despite this disadvantage. Acting is good, directing is good. Only dialogues are not realistic.

Flowless Movie

I watched the movie in a film fistival where the director and his brothers attended the screaning. He said it was the first movie he directed and I couldn't doubt that while watching the movie. The shoots' the baground, the music, and dialogs, all combained perfectlly for a flowless movie. Films like this makes me wonder why directors with more experince and money give us bad movies while we get such a great movie from a "newbie".

Popular Scenario For Modern Turkish Directors

Bilginer and Atay are very good actors last decades. Scenario is popular in world cinema, directors love family dramas always. Erturk judge Turkish family structure, bureaucracy and religion traders.

Good startup Erturk's long metrage movies.

Bad final

A good plot and a calm tempo, but the finalization is not satisfying.

Story of Regrets by a Great Atmosphere

Atmosphere, acting, plot, immersion ... You wouldn't think it was the first work of a director who created such a beautiful movie, but it is.

"Noah Land" is a very original film that makes you feel the emotions of the characters throughout the movie, and strengthens this feeling with its sound and music. The regrets and intense emotions experienced by the characters are easily passed on to the audience and the whole message is given in its most meaningful form.

Noah Hill is a movie that deserves 86/100 points when all these features are evaluated.

Great Debut Film

Shots were flawless. The movie looks beautiful from start to finish. Acting was of course great as expected from Haluk Bilginer and Ali Atay. The story wasnt shocking but it also wasn't the focus of the movie. What makes this movie so great is the cinematography and watching these characters interact. In that sense this movie is very similar to Nuri Bilge Ceylan's works. But since this is a debut film i dont think this is an issue. I believe the director will create his own style in time.

People Should Stop Comparing Directors

A beautiful movie with great acting. Ifelt like I needed to add this review because almost all the other reviews are comparing it to Nuri Bilge Ceylan movies. Yes, of course it is in a similar vein and of course as a young director Cenk Ertürk is also influenced by Ceylan, many young Turkish filmmakers are. This doesn'T change the fact that Cenk Ertürk isn't his own and this doesn'T make him a copy paste. So please if you are going to review a movie don't just say another Nuri Bilge Ceylan.

Noah Land is about being misunderstood and it doesn't give you a plain answer for your questions. I found it to be a great character study and the great acting just added to it. A great debut film. It is slow but not boring if you are invested in the story and the characters. I'm sorry for the people who left it at the first 45 minutes because the second half is much more eventful if that's your thing.

Extremely cliche and boring

Sound designing is bad. Dialogs are cliche, unnatural, lazy. I hate it. Like a cheap copy of nuri bilge ceylan and tarkovsky movies. Focussless and paceless screenwriting. I hate it. Cheap.

Waste of time

I was able to bear watching only first 45 minutes of the movie and I can tell you that it is one of the most borning movies I have ever seen in my life. Dont waste your time. .
