I dont get how people call this a rip off from a well kown american studio animated movie (just because protagonists are animals and a rabbit that looks similar to that movie?) , You are over reacting. Animation is nice , movie its funny and has a nice story to it. Really enjoyed it and highly recommend it. Not only usa can do nice animated movies France , china , spain , germany has nice nice animated movies with a much much lower buget than usa productions. Tale your head out of the "sand" and dont act like a brainwashed nation.
Yes, it instantly it looks and feels like Zootopia. Surprisingly good graphics and story. Not for younger kids with some of the language.
I watched "Spycies" with my 9 year old daughter and we both enjoyed it quite a bit. I can honestly say that I wasn't bored for a minute and I'd even gladly give "Spycies" another watch after some time.
When it comes to Chinese CG animated films I can clearly see why people are cautious and somehow prejudiced. There have been numerous badly animated, borderline unwatchable rip-offs and mash-ups of popular western hits by Disney, Pixar, DreamWorks, Blue Sky, etc. Well, I'm happy to say that "Spycies" is not one of them, even if being an action-thriller with anthropomorphic animal characters it surely bears some obvious similarities to Zootopia, but hey, it surely is not a copycat. "Spycies" is its own thing and it is awesome!
The animation quality is high above average, the character designs, the machines and the environments are really something. The action sequences are stylish and dynamic. But what makes it a great watch are the likable characters, the comic relief hits the mark, and the plot is intriguing, with some nice twists and turns. The villain is properly motivated and the reveal who's behind it all is surely a surprise for the younger audience.
It's not the very best animated film out there, but it certainly deserves more credit and the current IMDb rating is below 6, which I think is not really fair. If you're a fan of anthropomorphic heroes such as "Blacksad", "Biker Mice from Mars", "Zootopia", "DuckTales", etc. you should give it a try.

I didn't think American liberal activists could be responsible for ruining a China/France production.
This started off so well, then started to show signs of social agenda indoctrination and messages, instead of a decent plot. Ridiculously blaming global warming for the extinction of mammoths, is the whole movie.
Hopefully, the next one they create will have writers for ideas, not activists.

Yeah, I expected to be disappointed but I somehow wasn't. The story itself was okay, the film had comedic elements, and the background & environment looked like what you'd see in a top-tier Pixar, Disney, or Blue Sky Studios film. It was a nice film, at least for me, even though it slightly resembled Zootopia. And for a Chinese-French animated film, it was actually good!
I don't think the film is perfect though, there were some things in the film that just didn't sit right with me. Not everything was bad though, but something definitely pissed me off regarding the film's animation. The animation itself was pretty fine, it was smooth, sometimes it would look jagged but overall it was fine. But the complete lack of motion blurring made me so mad. There were SO MANY scenes that just LACKED MOTION BLUR. Sure, it wasn't a huge deal, but it made me angry because the scenes looked super ugly when there were no motion blurring in the shots.
Every other animated film only had a few scenes with no motion blur, but like 75% (probably inaccurate) of this entire film didn't have motion blur. It just looked so ugly and raw! But other than that, I enjoyed the film.
