Influenced by "Twin Peaks" there is a line in the film where Dean says: "He's trapped in a log?". This references the ending of the original series, where agent Cooper ends trapped in a log.
The film uses colors as distinctions form characters. Dean is blue, Mary is magenta, and Alyson is yellow.
