5 Characters Guardians Of The Galaxy Star Chris Pratt Could Play In DC Studios' Dcu
Image
When James Gunn cast Chris Pratt as Guardians of the Galaxy's Star-Lord, many fans wondered whether Marvel Studios had made a huge mistake. Still, the actor proved his doubters wrong and is now being eyed for a Dcu role.

The DC Studios co-ceo recently dismissed the notion of Pratt suiting up as Batman, but there are still plenty of DC Comics characters he could bring to life on screen.

In this feature, we've singled out five DC heroes—and villains—who would be a good fit for The Electric State and Jurassic World star. They're all very different from Peter Quill, and would arguably be well-suited to Pratt's skillset as an actor.

Edgar Wright’s The Running Man and Josh Boone’s Regretting You, which will likely follow in the footsteps of the Blake Lively-starring It Ends With Us and further pave a path for future Collen Hoover film adaptations like Verity and Reminders of Him.

Image
Long before she took on the role of emotionally complex heroine in Netflix’s hit series, Stranger Things, Millie Bobby Brown appeared in Grey’s Anatomy, which is now gearing up for its Season 22 premiere on October 9. Brown’s career took off after her breakout role as Eleven in the first season of the mystery-horror series, quickly overshadowing her earlier appearance as a young girl in the medical drama.

Millie Bobby Brown, who recently adopted a baby girl with her husband, Jake Bongiovi (via People), had a handful of credits before she landed the role of the mysterious, telekinetic Eleven in Stranger Things. One of those roles was in Grey’s Anatomy...

10 Netflix Originals That Cost More Than Some Iconic Hollywood Movies
Image
When Netflix first started making its own movies, most people thought of them as small, quirky projects meant to fill out a streaming library. Fast forward a few years, and the platform is casually dropping movies with budgets that rival and, in some cases, surpass Hollywood’s biggest blockbusters.

From action-packed spy thrillers to sweeping historical dramas and even animated family flicks, the streaming giant has proven it’s willing to throw hundreds of millions of dollars at projects that never even touch a movie theater screen. But here’s the kicker: many of these Netflix originals cost more than iconic Hollywood films we associate with massive scale — think Avatar,...

Alan Tudyk Was Removed From I, Robot's Marketing Campaign For A Wild Reason
Image
These days, Alan Tudyk is known as one of the most versatile and prolific voice-over and performance-capture actors of his generation. From voicing characters in pretty much every modern-day animated Disney film to playing K-2So in "Rogue One: A Star Wars" and "Andor," he's crafted quite the impressive resume. He even voiced Iago in Disney's live-action "Aladdin" remake, with his other recent roles including turns in Netflix's "The Electric State," DC's "Creature Commandos" (as the fan-favorite character Doctor Phosphorous), and dozens of other TV series and streaming titles.

Back in the early 2000s, however, Tudyk was better known for his live-action roles, typically of a comedic nature. If you're of a certain generation, you likely know him best as wisecracking pilot Hoban Washburne on "Firefly" or as Steve the Pirate in "Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story." But while he was building a reputation for comedy in Hollywood, he...

Chris Pratt’s $200 Million ‘Edge of Tomorrow’ Replacement Surges on Streaming Charts
Image
It’s hardly been 24 hours since Collider delivered you a batch of news regarding Chris Pratt’s hit Prime Video series, The Terminal List, but one of Pratt’s other beloved collaborations with the streamer has returned to streaming charts several years later. Pratt stars alongside Yvonne Strahovski (The Handmaid’s Tale) and J.K. Simmons (Whiplash) in The Tomorrow War, the 2021 dystopian sci-fi thriller following a family man who is sent into the future to fight a global war against a dangerous alien species. The Tomorrow War is still streaming on Prime Video, and the film is still in the top 10 four years later in several countries, such as the Philippines, Denmark, and Finland. The film earned scores of 51% from critics but 76% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes.

The Tomorrow War was compared to Tom Cruise’s Edge of Tomorrow upon release, primarily due to the time-traveling aspect. Both films also see...

Alan Tudyk Reveals Heartbreaking Story Behind His Forgotten ‘I, Robot’ Role
Image
Since its release, I, Robot is best remembered as an entertaining Will Smith sci-fi action classic following a detective with a bias against robots unraveling a conspiracy that threatens all of humanity. However, just as important to the loose Isaac Asimov adaptation is the NS5 prototype Sonny, designed to feel emotions and be more like the humans that made him. He's played by prolific actor Alan Tudyk, who not only provided the voice but also motion capture to bring Sonny to life in a way that would be fitting of his stiffer, mechanical nature. However, you likely wouldn't know it was him solely by looking at promotional material. In an episode of Toon'd in with Jim Cummings, he revealed the reason his performance got so little attention in the run-up to the film in the shadow of Smith's.

While he and Cummings were sharing some of their Hollywood stories, Tudyk...

Chris Pratt's 'Garfield Movie' Scores on Streaming Following Sequel Announcement
Image
Chris Pratt has blown up in the last few years thanks to starring in major franchises like Marvel and Jurassic World, but he’s also lent his voice to several popular animated movies. One of them is The Garfield Movie, the film following Garfield and his friend Odie (Harvey Guillén), who are forced into a heist after Garfield reunites with his dad, the long-lost alley cat, Vic (Samuel L. Jackson). The Garfield Movie is currently streaming on Netflix in America and globally, where it’s one of the most popular movies in several countries, like Singapore. The film earned 36% from critics and 79% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, but it grossed $257 million at the box office against a $60 million budget, making the film a colossal financial hit.

Just a few weeks ago, the news broke thatThe Garfield Movie is getting a sequel, which shocked fans, but it isn’t as surprising...

Brad Pitt Has Quietly Been Responsible For Some Of Netflix's Best Shows
Image
Netflix won the streaming wars long ago and now boasts 300 million subscribers worldwide. But its massive success has come at a cost -- namely, anyone looking to criticize the streaming age (and there is a lot to criticize) will highlight Netflix as one of the chief architects of our current moment, in which we find ourselves surrounded by a homogenous gloop of generic streaming movies and series. To be sure, Netflix has been largely responsible for this state of affairs simply by virtue of being the first and biggest streamer in the game. Still, it's not entirely fair to dismiss the company and its vast catalog of media outright.

For one thing, amid the never-ending waves of "content," the streamer is also delivering some truly great TV shows. Take "Adolescence," for example, which is one of the best Netflix originals ever. This mini-series comprises four episodes that were each shot in one continuous take.

Chris Pratt’s Role in Katy Perry’s Lawsuit: Legal Drama Over Her $15 Million Mansion Explained
Image
Back in 2020, Katy Perry purchased a $15 million Santa Barbara mansion through her manager, but just days later, the original owner, Carl Westcott, a U.S. Army veteran and entrepreneur, claimed he had been under the influence of strong medication following surgery and wasn’t in the right state of mind to sell.

Now, actors Chris Pratt and his wife, Katherine Schwarzenegger, have unexpectedly found themselves caught in the middle of one of Perry’s most unusual legal battles. Known for her headline-making disputes, like the infamous case involving elderly nuns and a Los Angeles convent, Perry is once again at the center of a high-profile courtroom fight.

As she seeks damages related to the property, Perry is also being questioned about allegedly renting the estate to Pratt and Schwarzenegger during the ongoing legal dispute, making the case even more complicated. Here’s what’s going on.

Why Would Katy Perry Be...

Avengers: Doomsday Star Anthony Mackie Shares Shooting Update And Makes Interesting Endgame Comparison
Image
Avengers: Doomsday is currently shooting in the UK, the new base for Marvel Studios movies. Atlanta was previously the studio's go-to filming location, but The Fantastic Four: First Steps shot across the pond, as will Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

We've yet to see any set photos from Avengers: Doomsday beyond the occasional aerial shot of some mysterious sets. That proves the Russo Brothers weren't kidding when they said earlier this year that there were precautions in place to keep the movie's biggest surprises under wraps.

Screen Rant recently caught up with Captain America actor Anthony Mackie, and asked him how work on the next Avengers movie is progressing.

"We are in the midst of it. I mean, it's such a big, moving set piece, and it's such a big story," he shared. "The best part of shooting a Marvel movie is that it's always an ever-evolving canvas. There are those staple pieces,...

KPop Demon Hunters Just Made Netflix History 5 Weeks After Release
Image
Five weeks after its release, Kpop Demon Hunters is still breaking new ground on Netflix. The animated action-adventure film from Sony Pictures Animation has become one of the biggest viral streaming hits of the year, seemingly making evangelists out of each new subscriber who gives it a chance. This comes despite relatively little marketing for the movie and a lack of major Hollywood heavyweights on its colorful pop singer cast.

Despite all this, the movie has gained massive popularity online, shooting up the Netflix charts, and its original soundtrack is becoming a streaming hit. It is a true word-of-mouth smash, and nothing exemplifies this better than a recent record the film broke, beating out other major Netflix titles like Damsel, The Electric State, and The Kissing Booth.

According to Netflix, Kpop Demon Hunters has made history for the platform, becoming the first Netflix original movie to reach a new viewing...

'Just Picture It:' Millie Bobby Brown's Netflix Rom-Com Sets Filming Date
Image
One Stranger Thingsstar is about to flip things upside down (again) as they have officially lined up their next project on Netflix — and it is totally different from anything they have done before. The fifth and final season of the Duffer Brothers' critically acclaimed sci-fi series will premiere in two parts later this year, marking the end of an era for the cast as they say goodbye to their beloved roles after nearly a decade on the show. Many of them will step into unfamiliar territory, exploring new projects and diversifying their on-screen presence.

Before Millie Bobby Brown takes her final bow as Eleven, she will have entered production on an entirely new project, titled Just Picture It. The feature film is set up at Netflix, where Brown is a mainstay, but it will mark a career-first for the actress, as she breaks free of the sci-fi genre to star...

Michael Fassbender’s 96% Rotten Tomatoes Spy Movie Is Dominating Streaming Charts, Despite Being a Box Office Flop
Image
When Black Bagreleased in theaters in March 2025, it barely made a ripple. Despite starring Michael Fassbenderand carrying a $50-60 million budget, the film pulled in just $21.4 million domestically and $21.8 million internationally, totaling $43.2 million worldwide. It was labeled a flop and disappeared from cinemas soon after. Now, four months later, Black Bag is suddenly getting a second life. During the week of July 12-18, it broke into the Top 10 streaming charts on both Amazon and iTunes.

Part of the reason it tanked at the box office was timing. March 2025 was stacked with high-profile releases like Mickey 17, The Electric State, and Novocaine. All of these titles were backed by aggressive marketing campaigns and months of buzz. Compared to them, Black Bag felt invisible. There was no major press tour, almost no trailer presence in theaters, and no social media push. Fassbender’s return to espionage, a genre he’s known to shine in,...

Sci-Fi Thriller That Took 5 Years To Release Is Now A Hit On Streaming
Image
A sci-fi thriller has now become a success on streaming after a long road to actually releasing. From small budgets to big-budget blockbuster fare, sci-fi remains a dependable genre with wide audience appeal. The genre often transports viewers to an alternate version of reality, showing advanced technology or possible futures.

Sci-fi movies have been a staple of the theatrical space for decades. From early cult classics like Blade Runner (1982) to Christopher Nolan's acclaimed and beloved Interstellar (2014), these movies are often built for the big screen.

In today's streaming-dominant era, however, audiences are also likely to see some sci-fi flicks go straight to streaming. The Gorge (2025), for example, was released directly onto Apple TV+ in February and The Electric State (2025) hit Netflix in March.

A direct-to-streaming release can sometimes make a movie feel like less of a cultural event, but that certainly doesn't mean it can't reach viewers. Often, sci-fi...

Chris Pratt’s Forgotten and Star-Studded $30 Million Rom-Com Leaves Streaming Soon
Image
Chris Pratt kicked off the year by starring in The Electric State, the critically panned sci-fi film that cost over $300 million to make. 13 years ago, he starred in a forgotten rom-com that just got a disappointing streaming update. Pratt stars alongside Jason Segel (Shrinking) and Emily Blunt (Edge of Tomorrow) in The Five-Year Engagement, a romantic comedy following Tom (Segel) and Violet (Blunt), a newly-engaged couple that keeps running into obstacles before they can make it down the aisle. The Five-Year Engagement is currently streaming on Netflix, but the streamer has announced that the last day to watch the film will be July 31. It earned mediocre scores of 64% from critics and 51% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, and it grossed only $54 million at the box office against a $30 million budget.

In addition to starring in the film, Jason Segel also wrote the script for The Five-Year Engagement with Nicholas Stoller, who...

'Back in Action' Is Officially the Most Streamed Netflix Original Movie of the Year, Despite Its 29% Rotten Tomatoes Rating
Image
The Nielsen Company recently dropped its latest viewing records for the major streaming services. Alongside revealing what the most-streamed movie of 2025 (so far) is, it also unveiled which of Netflix's many original movies has been the most successful. As well as streaming some of the biggest theatrical movies of the past few years, and having a healthy number of hidden gems, Netflix has also become renowned for its original movies, which are released directly on the platform. This year even saw Netflix spend big on the Russo Brothers' The Electric State, which cost a reported $320 million. However, that epic movie has been outdone by an action comedy that critics detested.

According to the report, Netflix's Back in Action is the streamer's most-viewed original movie this year. It is not the most-watched film on Netflix in 2025; that honor goes to Despicable Me 4. However, it is the most-streamed movie produced by Netflix.

Image
Our favorite ketchup and mustard duo, Millie Bobby Brown and Sadie Sink, are finally saying goodbye to Hawkins, with Stranger Things set to wrap its final season this year. While the Upside Down may be closing, the real drama is unfolding in real life, with their careers. Both launched into the spotlight through the Netflix phenomenon, but their post-Stranger Things journeys are playing out very differently.

Millie Bobby Brown was The breakout star. Eleven was the face of the show, and she rode that wave straight into global fame and rightfully so. She has also built a personal brand empire, skincare, Florence by Mills, believe it or not, a best-selling WWII romance novel called Nineteen Steps, and a production company.

As ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ Sings On Netflix, Ted Sarandos Talks Up Original Animated Features
Image
KPop Demon Hunters, released June 20 and, at 80 million views, one of Netflix’s biggest animated films ever with chart-topping music to boot, had co-ceo Ted Sarandos singing its praises today.

The film “is a phenomenal success out of the gate. One of the things that I’m excited, really proud of the team over, is [that it’s] original animation — not a sequel, not a live action remake. Original animation … is very tough and has been struggling for years.” Leo, The Sea Beast and now Kpop Demon Hunters are original animation and “we’re super thrilled about that,” he said on a call after the giant streamer’s second-quarter earnings, noting the latter’s winning mix of music and pop culture.

“Getting it right matters. The storytelling matters. The innovation and animation itself matters. And the fact that people are in love with this film and in love with the music from this film,...

Millie Bobby Brown Is Leading Netflix's New Movie That Entirely Pivots From The Sci-Fi Genre
Image
Millie Bobby Brown is leading a new Netflix movie that pivots her away from the sci-fi genre. The British actress rose from relative obscurity to a superstar by playing Eleven in Netflix's sci-fi series Stranger Things, for which she received two Emmy nominations. Brown's jump to feature film started with the Monsterverse movies, Godzilla: King of the Monsters and its sequel, Godzilla vs. Kong.

But since then, she's starred exclusively in Netflix films, including Enola Holmes and Enola Holmes 2, withEnola Holmes 3 on the way. She's also starred in Netflix's fantasy film Damsel, which is Netflix's ninth most-watched movie ever, and Netflix's sci-fi film The Electric State, which was a critical disaster that earned a dismal 14% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Netflix’s Most-Watched Movie of 2025 Has Over 6 Billion Minutes Watched
Image
Who would have thought that Netflix’s biggest hit of 2025 would be a bunch of yellow troublemakers? While many subscribers have been groaning about a lack of standout originals, The Old Guard 2, Madea’s Destination Wedding, and The Electric State didn’t exactly break the internet, Despicable Me 4 has swooped in to save the day for the streaming giant. According to Nielsen, the animated sequel racked up a massive 6.274 billion minutes viewed, making it the most-watched movie on Netflix this year so far. Not bad for a film that first hit theaters back in 2024. The numbers are even more impressive when you see what it’s up against. Moana 2 dominated Disney+ with a whopping 7.227 billion minutes, while Netflix’s own Back in Action trailed behind at 5.264 billion. Even big releases like The Electric State, Kraven the Hunter, and Gladiator II couldn’t compete with Gru’s bald head...

We're seven months into 2025, and one film has dominated Netflix's ratings, and it's easy to understand how. Despite what you might think, it's not one of the streamer's original offerings, like Carry-On, The Electric State, or Glass Onion: A Knives Out Movie. Instead, the film that audiences have been obsessed with is the fourth installment in a long-running animated franchise, which was released last year. The Nielsen Company has confirmed the film's popularity with its most recent statistics. The movie in question already had a dominating run at the box office, and now it's taking over streaming as well.

Released in theaters in July 2024, Despicable Me 4 is the movie that Netflix...

The Most Streamed Movie Of 2025 So Far Shouldn't Surprise You
Image
The verdict is in on what is the most-streamed movie of 2025 so far, and it is not surprising considering which titles have had the widest audiences. In the streaming era, genuinely great movies have struggled at the box office, but all kinds of pictures can become streaming hits. However, the most recent data still reflects which tend to be the most financially successful.

According to Nielsen Media Data (via puck.news), 2024's Moana 2, starring Auli'i Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson, is so far the most-streamed movie of the year.Moana 2 competes with and surpasses other movies in the top 20, many of which are also from two of the biggest streamers — Netflix and Disney+ — and family-friendly animated movies.

Somehow, Chris Pratt’s $320M Sci-Fi Movie Looks Even More Disappointing After New Streaming Data
Image
After rising to fame with his lovable role as Andy Dwyer on NBC's Parks and Recreation, Chris Pratt has since transitioned into a major Hollywood star, especially within the science fiction genre. He became widely recognized for portraying Star-Lord in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy and Owen Grady in the Jurassic World trilogy, both blockbuster sci-fi franchises.

Despite his early success, Pratt's more recent ventures into sci-fi movies have been met with less enthusiasm. The shift began with Passengers, a film criticized for its problematic plot. Instead of elevating his status in sci-fi, it marked the start of a disappointing trend. Pratt's attempts to recapture his blockbuster success with similar films have generally failed to resonate with critics and audiences alike.

This pattern continued with streaming projects like Amazon's The Tomorrow War, which drew lukewarm responses for its clichéd plot and lack of originality, with critics...

While there have been plenty of great original movies, underappreciated hidden gems, and mainstream megahits that have captured viewers' attention this year, the film that stands supreme for Netflix viewers is actually part of a $5.6 billion franchise.

There have been lots of great Netflix movies to stream this year, as January started strong with the stop-motion triumph that was Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl, and soon comedy fans will enjoy an exciting sequel as Adam Sandler returns for Happy Gilmore 2. However, the most-watched movie on Netflix wasn’t an original and was actually the fourth in its franchise.

Netflix's 2025 Bet On Cameron Diaz Paid Off Big Time (Despite 29% Rt Score)
Image
Cameron Diaz was one of the biggest stars in the late '90s and early 2000s. During that time, she starred in many iconic movies, including There's Something About Mary, Charlie's Angels, Vanilla Sky, and My Best Friend's Wedding. It also saw her take on a role in the more experimental Being John Malkovich.

Her career remained active throughout the 2000s, when she most notably voiced Fiona in the Shrek movies. In 2014, she played Miss Hannigan in the modern-day reimagining of the classic musical Annie.

After 2014, however, Diaz took an unexpected career break. This acting hiatus ended up being fairly extended, as she did not return to the big screen for over a decade. Now, she is gearing up to play Fiona again in Shrek 5, but it's Diaz's comeback film that has now been proven to be a success.

After Just 2 Days, Netflix's Panned New Thriller With 31% on Rotten Tomatoes Is the #1 Streaming Movie Worldwide
Image
Netflix has been constantly releasing original films that usually become big streaming hits. That often happens even if the audiences and critics don't enjoy the project.

Such is the case for one of the most recent releases: Brick. Not to be confused with the 2005 neo-noir mystery thriller of the same name, with Knives Out's Rian Johnson in his directorial debut, the new Netflix film is a sci-fi German movie that has the residents of a building unexpectedly caught in their homes by a surprising brick wall. Although Brick received negative reviews, it didn't take long for it to become a worldwide hit, FlixPatrol reports.

Brick premiered on Netflix on Jul. 10, and two days later, it's already the #1 film worldwide. On its first day, the sci-fi mystery film topped the charts in 43 countries, and further grew to 44 countries on Jul. 12. Considering that it's a foreign film with little to no promotion,...

Chris Pratt's Prime Video Thriller With 94% Rt Audience Score Surges On Streaming Charts For A Key Reason
Image
The Terminal List, Chris Pratt's divisive action thriller series on Amazon Prime Video, is currently surging up the U.S. streaming charts even though season 1 was released back in 2022. Pratt, who has starred in blockbuster franchises such as Jurassic World and the MCU, also recently starred in Netflix's adventure epic movie The Electric State.

While Pratt is primarily a Hollywood movie star, he has appeared in a handful of notable TV series dating back to his breakout role as Andy Dwyer in Parks and Recreation. His conspiracy thriller series The Terminal List, based on the book by Jack Carr, received a 94% Rotten Tomatoes audience score and has risen to the #6 spot on Prime Video's streaming charts in the U.S.

Charlize Theron’s 24% Rotten Tomatoes Action Sequel Loses Top Spot on Streaming Charts 1 Week After Netflix Debut
Image
The concept of the Netflix blockbuster is an ever-changing one. The streamer has been criticized for homogenizing the tent pole experience, and for forgoing theatrical releases almost entirely. This has led to the production of films such as Red Notice, 6 Underground, The Gray Man, and The Electric State. Each of those movies was supposed to spawn a franchise, but none of them has. At least, not yet. However, two titles in the first batch of Netflix tent poles — Extraction and The Old Guard — both managed to stand out, which is perhaps why they were granted sequels. The Old Guard 2 debuted earlier this month after an unexpectedly long delay, but it was met with poor reviews and, seemingly, a lack of interest from audiences.

The movie has already lost its number one spot on the Netflix viewership charts, which is almost unheard of for a film of its size.

Chris Pratt's 53% Sci-Fi That Critics Claim Was "Bored With Itself" Is a Sleeper Hit on Streaming
Image

The $200 million sci-fi action blockbuster, once called “bored with itself” by critics, has stormed back into the HBO Max Top 25, years after it became the most expensive direct-to-streaming release of its time. Originally produced by Paramount and offloaded to Prime Video in 2021, The Tomorrow War was a major move in the early streaming wars, landing with a thunderous $200M price tag and huge expectations. Now, it’s doing numbers all over again — with data confirming the film surged back into the HBO Max Top 10 as recently as June 25.

So what’s driving this renewed interest in a movie that debuted to a lukewarm 51% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes? For starters, the premise still slaps: Pratt plays a high school teacher who’s drafted into a war...

Stanley Tucci’s Most Deranged Yet Legendary Roles, Including The Lovely Bones
Image
Stanley Tucci is one of the best character actors in the industry, who has been appearing in films and TV shows since 1985. Over his four decades in the acting field, he has taken on a range of roles, from menacing villain to mentor figure. He has six Emmys and two Golden Globes to back up his acting chops. His only Oscar nomination came for the role of serial killer George Harvey in The Lovely Bones.

Interestingly, his career involved many such deranged characters like Harvey, though many of them aren’t as creepy as that role. He has played a shady assassin, a Nazi, a corrupt CEO, and a sharp-tongued TV host. While he has played other legendary roles as a good guy, here are the ones he nailed as a deranged character.
