New Archie Comics Movie In The Works From Spider-verse Due Lord & Miller And Writer Tom King
Image
Archie Comics and its various spin-offs have remained incredibly popular over the years (it's been over 8 decades since the first publication), and The CW's Riverdale series introduced a new generation to Archie, Betty, Veronica, Jughead and friends.

It was probably only a matter of time before the property was revisited, and we now have word on two separate projects currently in development for the big and small screens.

First reported by Jeff Sneider in his newsletter and since backed-up by the trades, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse duo Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are set to produce an Archie movie for Universal Pictures, with Comic book writer Tom King (Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow) on board to pen the script.

“We are longtime fans of Archie, Veronica, Betty, and the gang in all of their iterations,” said Lord and Miller in a statement. “When we heard Tom King’s take on the classic material,...

In its 85-year history, Archie Comics has sold over 3 billion copies that were published in dozens of languages across the globe. Image
“Wednesday” has a very specific vibe, but there are a handful of shows that could scratch the same itch while waiting for the second half of Season 2 to drop.

“The Addams Family” spinoff series blends the classic teen coming-of-age tale with supernatural madness, murder and a bit of oddball humor. That can be a hard combination to duplicate but a pair of shows from horror maestro Mike Flanagan, an adaptation from a comic by Stephen King’s son, and the original teen supernatural coming-of-age series can get the job done.

Below are the shows to check out to pass the time while waiting for “Wednesday” Season 2 Part 2.

Duncan Sheik at an event for El escritor fantasma (2010)
Reimagined and Revised Version of ‘American Psycho: The Musical’ Heads to Houston Next Month
Duncan Sheik at an event for El escritor fantasma (2010)
The Houston Broadway Theatre is bringing an updated version of American Psycho: The Musical to Houston next month, featuring a new script and a revised score from co-creators Duncan Sheik (Spring Awakening) and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.

Based on the novel by Bret Easton Ellis and inspired by the cocaine-fueled Manhattan of the 1980s, the musical focuses on Patrick Bateman, a young investment banker who seems to have it all. The trouble is he has homicidal urges and his friends keep disappearing.

The novel was previously dramatized with a 2000 film adaptation starring Christian Bale, and has a new adaptation on the way.

Sheik and Aguirre-Sacasa’s American Psycho musical made its Broadway debut in 2016, playing a brief, 54-performance run at the Schoenfeld Theatre. The musical proved a bigger success overseas, completely selling out its world premiere run at London’s Almeida Theatre in 2013, with Matt Smith leading the production.

The new production,...

New Harry Potter audiobook actress defends decision to join franchise: 'I support trans rights'
Image
If an entirely new Harry Potter TV series wasn't enough, Audible will debut an ensemble cast audio dramatization of the beloved novels later this year.

The audio series follows in the footsteps of previous successful Audible dramas, such as 1984 and The Sandman, boasting a stellar cast with names such as Hugh Laurie as Albus Dumbledore, Matthew Macfadyen as Lord Voldemort, and Riz Ahmed as Professor Snape.

Another major casting sees Michelle Gomez take on the role of Hogwarts Professor Minerva McGonagall. Naturally, people have taken issue with yet another Harry Potter adaptation, and many have also thrown shade at the cast for taking part in an adaptation of J.K. Rowling's work.

In the case of Gomez, she quickly took to her Instagram Story (per Entertainment Weekly) to speak out against Rowling's anti-trans views.

Nothing gets the blood pumping like a swift kick to the nostalgia bread basket, and today, Warner Bros. ‘Good Cop/Bad Cop’ Gets Prime Video Run In U.S. Streaming Deal For The CW & Stan Series
Image
Exclusive: Prime Video will play Good Cop/Bad Cop. The Amazon streamer has taken the comedic crime procedural for the U.S. where it is already available on The CW broadcast network and Roku. All eight episodes from Season 1 launch on Prime Video on July 11.

Amid talk of a sophomore run, the team behind the show hopes the additional exposure will put wind in its sails for a second season order.

Luke Cook and Leighton Meester star in Good Cop/Bad Cop, which was created by John Quaintance and is produced by former NBCU exec Jeff Wachtel’s Future Shack. Cook, Quaintance and Wachtel were on hand recently at the Monte-Carlo TV Festival to talk about the series, which, outside the U.S., is for Australian streamer Stan.

Deadline asked the team whether there is a second season coming and Quaintance, producer of shows including Will & Grace, said. “We’re still trying to make that happen.

The Powerpuff Girls: Everything We Know About The Canceled Live-Action Reboot
Image
The "gritty young-adult remake" was all the rage back in 2020. The success of "Riverdale" had opened the floodgates, leading to similar but perhaps less well-thought-out series like Netflix's "Fate: The Winx Saga" (adapting the early 2000s cartoon "Winx Club") and DC's "Titans". Some, like "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina" (a reboot of "Sabrina the Teenage Witch"), were more successful than others. But the gold rush to find the next nostalgic children's property to darkify was on, so it was both baffling and entirely unsurprising when news broke of a gritty, live-action reboot of "The Powerpuff Girls" being announced at The CW.

The venue was the only thing that made that wild pitch somewhat easier to swallow. As the home of "Riverdale," The CW was effectively ground zero for the "What if Ben 10 went to Euphoria High?" approach to TV writing. Even still, the chosen subject felt a bit too...

Jaz Sinclair Accepts Monte-Carlo TV Festival Award, Teases Darker Tone For Season 2 Of Prime Video’s ‘Gen V’
Image
With the second season of Prime Video’s Gen V coming soon, Jaz Sinclair has opened up on what fans can expect. “The tone is a little bit darker, at least at the start,” Sinclair said at the Monte-Carlo TV Festival, Saturday.

There will, however, be lighter moments amid the darkness, she added: “It’s still just as funny, and there’s love and stuff, but I think overall, our characters have been through so much now that we’re a little bit more jaded.”

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina star Sinclair collected the Golden Nymph award for Most Promising Talent at the Festival’s opening, Friday, and was then on hand to talk about Gen V ahead of its launch on Prime Video on September 17.

In The Boys spin-off, Sinclair plays Marie Moreau, whose primary superpower is blood manipulation, or Hemokinesis. She said she was proud of the way...

Al Pacino’s New Horror Movie Debuted With a Career-First Rotten Tomatoes Score for the ‘Godfather’ Star
Image
Al Pacino is one of the most renowned actors in Hollywood, winning multiple accolades, including an Oscar for Best Acor for Scent of a Woman. So you can imagine the shock (but not surprise) when, in a career-first move, his latest project, The Ritual, debuted with a 0% Rotten Tomatoes score.

The Ritual is a horror movie directed by David Midell. It stars Pacino and Dan Stevens among a star-studded cast list that includes Ashley Greene (Twilight) and Abigail Cowen (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina). Unfortunately, the film received an abysmal response and, as of this writing, it has slightly increased and settled at 6% as more reviews roll in. It won't be long until the audience score is revealed.

Collider recently reviewed The Ritualand gave it a low score of 3/10. It praised the actors for making do with what they're given, but criticized the cinematography, which was lackluster and filled with every lazy exorcism trope imaginable.

New Horror Movie Starring An Oscar Winner Debuts On Rotten Tomatoes With Rare 0% Score
Image
A new horror movie has earned a 0% score during its Rotten Tomatoes debut. Like any genre, horror tends to have major critical ups and downs. While many entries in the genre are well-respected classics with stellar reviews, including 2017's Get Out (which has a near-perfect 98% score on Rotten Tomatoes), 1991's The Silence of the Lambs (95%), 1975's Jaws (97%), and 1960's Psycho (97%), others have been widely lambasted, including 1987's Jaws: The Revenge (2%), 2002's FeardotCom (3%), and 2022's Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey (3%).

However, early 2025 has been a fertile period for horror movies that are both critically and commercially successful. While April and May have seen the most success, three of the Top 20 highest-grossing movies of 2025 in general are entries in the genre, namely February's The Monkey (which has a 78% Rotten Tomatoes score and grossed $68.6 million worldwide against a reported budget of $11 million), May's Final Destination: Bloodlines, and April's Ryan Coogler's Sinners. So far, June...

The Ritual Review — Grounded but Not Scary
Image
An exorcism horror picture starring Dan Stevens and Al Pacino is an easy sell for cinephiles, even if it only delivers on the lowest common denominator. Frankly, that’s what we get with The Ritual, a true-story-inspired possession flick that sticks to the genre’s formula pretty closely, failing to elicit much in the way of scares or sympathy.

The Ritual Review

The Ritual details sinister real events that happened in Iowa in 1928, where two priests participate in a marathon exorcism to rescue an afflicted woman, all the while dealing with their own pasts and crisis of faith. The film is (self-proclaimedly) based on the “most thoroughly documented exorcism in American history,” so you would be forgiven for feeling that this is overly familiar.

One of the more unique things about The Ritual — of which there are admittedly few — is director David Midell’s choice to shoot the film in an almost documentary-like format.

Don’t Be Tardy for the First ‘Gen V’ Season 2' Trailer and New Release Date
Image
The kids are alright. Well. Kind of. Today at the Ccxp Mexico celebrations, Prime Video dropped the debut trailer for the second season of Gen V — a moment that fans have been waiting for since the first season came to an end back in 2023. Even better than that, though, is the announcement that Season 2 will finally arrive on Wednesday, September 17, which certainly stays on par with the school's in-session theme of the show.

In the quick glimpse that we see, Eric Kripke and his team have already upped the ante, and are going for more blood, guts, and drama than before. With the universe’s flagship series, The Boys, officially coming to an end following its upcoming fifth season, all eyes are on Gen V to serve as the future of the franchise. And, if today’s teaser is any clue, it certainly won’t disappoint. Many returning faces are...

MCU & 'Game of Thrones' Star Richard Madden Climbs the James Bond Favorites List
Image
The competition for who will play the next James Bond seems to be a pretty close one at present, with the likes of former Superman Henry Cavill, The Gentlemen star Theo James, and Bullet Train’s Aaron Taylor-Johnson usually topping the list. But now we have a new name slowly making his way up the ranking, and no doubt many fans would be eternally grateful if he were to win the 007 role in Amazon’s upcoming reboot.

Game of Thrones and Eternals star Richard Madden is now back in the fray, with his odds improving recently (via Paddy Power). Now standing at 12/1, Madden, who has shown off his affinity for action before in both the MCU, action thriller The Take, and the TV series Bodyguard, has been rumored for the role in the past and now joins the likes of Callum Turner, James Norton, and Tom Hardy as a fellow frontrunner.

While many fans demanded that original star Donald Sutherland's son, Keifer Sutherland, be cast in the part, there have been few complaints now that the official announcement has been made.

Easterseals Disability Film Challenge Awards Announce 2025 Winners
Image
The winners of the 12th Annual Easterseals Disability Film Challenge Awards were announced Thursday night at the Sony Pictures Studios lot in Culver City.

Designed to promote and encourage more film and television works by artists with disabilities, this year’s Easterseals challenge tasked filmmakers with creating short films one-to-five minutes in length that exist within the thriller and suspense genres. As usual, challenge participants had just five days to craft their shorts. The cast and crew of each film had to consist of volunteers, and at least one person with a physical or cognitive disability was encouraged to be involved in the making of each short in an on-camera or behind-the-scenes capacity.

Of the 123 shorts that were submitted this year, just five ultimately took home the challenge’s top awards. In addition to host, actor and Easterseals founder Nic Novicki, Thursday night’s event was attended by Peter Farrelly...

According to Gambling Industry News, the odds have seriously improved for one The White Lotus star as the next Bond girl.

The White Lotus breakout star Aimee Lou Wood has seen her odds of being cast as the next Bond girl slashed in recent weeks. Where You've Seen The Cast Of 2024's Matlock Before
Image
When CBS first ordered a "Matlock" reboot back in 2023, the decision may have been a head-scratcher to some. Even aside from the fact that most of the cast of the original "Matlock" have passed away and their fans were likely nearing 60 years of age at least, the television landscape is already so crowded with courtroom dramas that an addition of this kind could understandably feel unnecessary. Speaking for those of us who held that opinion back then, we're happy to have been proven wrong.

"Matlock" is an unexpectedly fresh TV show with a unique perspective on the legal procedural genre, buoyed by a cast that flaunts comedic and dramatic talent in equal measure. This doesn't come as too much of a surprise if you recognize them from previous films and television shows, which include some of the best comedies and dramas TV has ever seen. From "The Office" and "Pitch Perfect...
