I can't diss this movie for not being on par with Hollywood - because it took Hollywood a lot of time and mix of good and bad movies to reach where they are today. And Attack is a similar crucial stepping stone for Indian movies, whether you like it or hate it AFTER watching it is your personal opinion.
But to solely dismiss it as a copy of Robocop/Upgrade is equally unfair.
Art inspires art, stories inspire stories and after I was done watching it, in retrospect I can't recall a dull moment which seemed like a blatant rip off in any way.
I've also seen people criticizing it for Jingoism and my only question is why can't a movie have a sci-fi backdrop and talk about role of an enhanced individual in a politically strife terrorism situation? It's hell a lot better than watching actors romance with love interests the age of their daughters now.
The movie isn't without it's flaws but it's a great case study for directors who are looking to explore more sci-fi action in Indian setting, it'd be great if such people can absorb all the good this movie finally brings to the stale state of mainstream Bollywood and look at the places it faltered to come up with even better projects in future.
Attack was definitely worth the watch for me as it gave me hope for Indian movies.

Movie ideas of super army is good, jhon did it perfectly. Sometimes we should just praise people to try something different and this was absolutely different and also good.
Yes if you watch Hollywood movies too much then you will feel the sences are inspired from various movies like the scene of surgery is inspired from the incredible Hulk when abomination was getting syrum in his body.

Overall a good watch with some scenes better than others. The storyline is pretty good, actions scenes were well choreographed, the dialogue was best during the action and many of the main supporting characters had a lot of depth. The chemistry with some of the personal interests were not so much. There are hints of several other movies like Universal Soldier, Olympus Has Fallen, The Matrix, Mission Impossible (or sometimes referred to as Mission Ridiculous) and some John Wick, and just one more. There is one tiny scene at the end that I just loved as I do like "I'm done with you" types of scenes. For those that are familiar with Where Eagles Dare will know this one. Go out and enjoy this one.
I'll be honest, i have seen many Hollywood films based on the same concept so called super soldier but inspite of that the film attack was entertaining and futuristic. I loved all the action sequences, the bgm and John Abraham's performance as a super soldier.
"Attack" may not be an embodiment of perfection nor anything substantive for that matter; yet you cannot refute all the efforts and the amount of commitment shown by the entire production crew, including the actors themselves. It is stylish, it is elegant and it knows what and how to deliver when the action kicks in.
Nevertheless, it is quite evident that the narrative showcases hints of struggle in other facets, and therefore the overall consistency is compromised to a certain extent. For instance, the writing on the antagonist came off as insignificant, as a result, he doesn't seem like a menacing presence nor does he present any imminent threats. Similarly, almost the same remarks apply to our protagonist's romantic interest, Ayesha, her part seemed like a superficial inclusion rather than an essential requirement.
Despite the drawbacks, I have to say whenever the Action takes the center stage, and the energetic score starts fading in in the back it's a satisfactory ride of chaos and absolute madness. While it is true that "Attack" borrowed lots of ideas from other Hollywood blockbusters and the ambitious blend of Sci-fi & Action is not something 'Original' per se, still, this comes out as feasible adaptation (of those very same concepts) and a step in the right direction for the industry as well.
The Box Office reception however raises a few questions. It does make me wonder about the general audience and their preferences. They repeatedly complain about the oversupply of remakes in the industry, yet they fail to show up and convey their gratitude when somebody tries to do something out of the box for a change. You may or may not adhere to what the film displays but you gotta give it to the creators for taking the chances; kind words, and a little appreciation will go a long way.
