    Leaves you wanting more

The atmosphere is very impressive, this is by far the best looking FPS I have ever played. The gameplay is awesome and the story is gripping. You can really tell how much care went into development. Every single character is memorable. The feelings are genuine, I actually cared about them. Making every mission that much more intense. The mix between the linear segments and open world areas fits perfect with this game. And cruising around the train while it's in motion through the country is so awesome I've been waiting for a game like this for very long (having a mobile home base in an "open world"). Metro Exodus is everything Fallout / Far Cry should've been. Metro highlights that intense FEAR and HORROR that would come with surviving in the post-apocalyptic world, great survival features / HUD, having to patch up holes in your gas mask if it gets too damaged, changing filters, or even just having to wipe it so you can see better, the depth of each mechanic makes it feel that much more immersive. My main negative criticism would be; it crashed a lot on me (about 10 times), in typical Metro fashion there were segments where I couldn't figure out where to go and I would miss what should've been obvious (I blame the developers, I never beat the other Metro's because of this, I probably just suck). And the ending, either one good or bad, should've been a couple hours longer, I truly feel the story was cut short. I know there's a limit to everything, but after investing all that time I expected to see more fruit of my labor and to be able to play in the orchard of those labor trees for a while longer. Like come on, what if uncharted 4 just ended without that ending you play on the beach? It'd feel like a lil hole is missing. Anyways, this is my favorite post-apocalyptic game by far.

The journey that you won't forget, a game with stunning and realistic atmosphere

The narrative and story is great, the factions you meet upon Artyom's journey is interesting but with the lack of side quests it felt like there was too little action with the factions, making us wanting more of them. The stuff we did get was simply great. The baron in the desert part felt like a good villain but ended up being dealt with too fast. The forest map was my favorite as it felt realistic and a lord of the flies vibe to it which I liked. The Dead City had some serious Metro 2033 vibes which I loved, exploring a hunted metro is what made the predecessors great as the atmosphere was something we had never seen in a game before and they succeeded in creating something new with the outside world, making all the factions different and interesting whilst keeping the tone the same. All chapters were outstanding, getting everything right. The Volga, Yamantau, The Taiga and The Dead City were superb. The Caspian was the only chapter I felt wasn't as high quality but it was still needed and entertaining to play through. Superb game.

Overall the game needed some side quests but we might get some good story DLCs like in the previous installment. They did a marvelous job at creating well written and likeable characters and giving more attention to the returning characters, making them perfect. All characters that you come across are different and great. I played the game like you were supposed to, killing almost no one and I managed to get the good ending which I loved and I don't want to spoil anything but there might be a sequel in the near future? Would be awesome.

A masterpiece of the post-apocalyptic game genre.

First of all, I would like to start my review by adding the following. I'm a huge Metro fan. In other words, this review will not be very objective. I'll briefly tell you what I like about this game, why I gave it a 9 rating, and why I'm a big fan. First of all, there is a very nice plot in this game that pushes me to go anywhere. Because everywhere you go in the game, there is an accessory, an Easteregg or something worth seeing and exploring. Unfortunately, today's games don't give me that feeling. Because most games take me to a place where I can go outside of the main story, not by my own will, but by force. And nothing noteworthy usually happens. This is a situation that really annoys me. Another thing I like about the game is definitely its story, but I can't talk about its storyline because there will be no spoilers in this review. And finally, the mechanics of the game are very good. Shooting a gun feels realistic. Weapon designs suitable for the atmosphere of the game are used. In short, if you are a Post-apocalyptic FPS lover, I definitely recommend this game to you.

    Game for thoughtful gamers

In terms of aesthetics, which was achieved, inclusively, by using the latest technology, the game is impressive. For example, ray tracing, used in Metro Exodus is the first full application of this technology. This gives the game both realism (it turns out that light plays a leading role not only in the physical architecture, but also in the virtual one) and beauty. The change of day and night, sunrise and sunset, the change of seasons - winter-spring-summer-autumn, blizzards, rain and sandstorms, the smoke of a locomotive - the visual effects are of extremely high quality.

The visual aesthetics of the game is accompanied with the beautiful music by Oleksiy Omelchuk ("Race Against Fate", sounding in one of the scenes in Novosibirsk, as well as guitar solos will definitely be remembered by fans of good music), the developers' attention to the small details and the general atmosphere.

The gameplay is slow, but fascinating and requires concentration. The game has a lot of text and dialogue, the disclosure of characters occurs through long monologues, actions and descriptions in the diary. The romantic line is not realized through the "classic" stereotypical "conquer the girl" nonsense, which is so fed up both in the movies and in games, but through showing main character's married life, his relationship with his wife Anna. Something similar to what Lewis described as "family romance" in English literature of the Victorian era.

Among the shortcomings are imperfect face animation as well as the fact that the game is rather short and does not have a gameplay "after-play".

In general, Metro Exodus is one of the few games that deserve attention. It has interesting gameplay, story, characters, semantic load and meaning layers, as well as aesthetics - visual and musical.

    Excellent Atmospheric FPS Game

Be patient. Slow paced initially. The combat takes some getting used to, but given enough time, the storyline comes together really well and the characters end up being memorable. The environment feels authentic and truly post-apocalyptic.

The high interactiveness with the crew has had me very immersed in the game and grown a strong and emotional bond with the characters as well as the sheer beauty of the world had me in aww, I love that you get to experience the diffrent terrains and the diffrent story each location offer. That's why I loved using Photo Mode throughout the game.

The gameplay is excellent as well, with very demanding situations that require you to stop and think carefully. It's a survival game. That's why some people who are used to other FPS games gave negative reviews. Metro Exodus is exactly what you want from a story driven survival horror game.

I would've given it 10/10 if it wasn't for some bugs and glitches. There are some weird interactions between the characters. "Here comes our fooood"... "Shaytan!"... and others.. (no spoilers) Sometimes I found it funny! It doesn't take away from the experience. Actually, the game has a special charm. I really wanted this type of FPS story game. And it delivered. And it keeps getting better.

I can't wait for a sequel. Thank you for making this game, it's an unforgettable experience.

When approaching the Yamantau bunker Sam spies a large bomb crater and says "look at the size of that one, wonder what yield it was?", Idiot replies "looks like a hundred, your guys used to have three and five hundred ones too". By a hundred Idiot means 100 kilotons, which is the average yield of a single SLBM (Submarine Launched Ballistic Missile) warhead. The largest nuclear bomb ever built was the Soviet Union's Tsar Bomba, which had a yield of 58 megatons; the largest bomb built by the United States was the SHRIMP with a yield of 15 megatons. Due to the strategic nuclear reduction treaties both the Soviet Union and the US had dismantled their large megaton yield warheads by the end of the 1990's, as of 2019 the largest nuclear bomb in use by the US is the B-83 thermonuclear gravity bomb carried by the B-2 Spirit stealth bomber, it has a variable yield warhead with a maximum yield of 1.2 megatons. The other weapons in the US nuclear arsenal include the AGM-86 cruise missile (carried by the B-52 Stratofortress) with variable warhead yield of 5-150 kilotons, B-61 thermonuclear gravity bomb (also carried by the B-2 Spirit) with a variable yield of 0.3-400 kilotons, the UGM-133 Trident II SLBM carried by the Ohio-class ballistic missile submarine, each submarine carries 20 of these missiles and each missile can be armed with up to 10 MIRV (Multiple Independent Reentry Vehicle) warheads with yields of either 5, 90, 100 or 450 kilotons per warhead depending on the type. The final weapon in the US nuclear arsenal is the LGM-30 Minuteman III ICBM (Intercontinental Ballistic Missile), the US has 450 of these missiles in stockpile with 100 active missile tubes spread between six Air Force bases across the country, each LGM-30 is armed with either a single W-78 350 kiloton yield warhead or a W-87 475 kiloton yield warhead. Information on current Russian nuclear weapons is hard to come by, but their gravity bomb, cruise missile, ICBM and SLBM missile warhead yields are comparable to the United States'.
