So guy has an obsessive crush on a girl. He seems a little neuroatypical so we can be nice, but he genuinely thinks being persistent is the way to get the girl and asks her out a 56th time getting a 'no' every time. She agrees to a single date hoping he'll be able to let it go once he sees they won't work, and he actually gets mad at her on the date for not liking and appreciating everything he does for her (good guy vibes right here), then dies trying to take an instragram photo to impress her in the most cringy way possible.
Girl has a guy she genuinely likes who likes her back, but the guy and obsessive boy are friends and he's too shy to make a move until his friend dies. They finally make a connection at his funeral.
Low and behold stalker boy raises from the dead and now must stay within 30 ft of girl because of a cursed necklace he gave her when they dated in 4th grade. Cue the comedy!
Except... Not. Okay, I really liked the setup and the characters. The thing I was waiting for was for zombie boy to finally understand that he never saw girl for who she was because he only saw his own fantasies. That he was never respectful of her and to truly let it sink in that he was told no 55 times. That they really had no future and trying to force her to be with him was unfair to her. Then deciding to do the best thing possible and give his closest and shy friend his blessing to date girl, and passing on with a bittersweet ending.
They didn't do any of that. This is like a love story for incels.

Katherine Hughes and Medalion Rahimi (from Before I Fall, and who plays an agent on NCIS Los Angeles) are both beautiful and funny. As is Ryan Lee.
I think the scripts are good and the premise is unique, and everyone's timing is on point.
The show had me laughing out loud even though I'm not really their demographic. Some might think it a silly high school comedy, which it is, but I enjoyed it a lot.
Plus, although he is used sparingly, it has the talented Rickey Eugene Brown who I saw displaying his acting skills in Your Honor the day before, but here does comedy as Mason the jock.
I watched all 8 episodes over 2 days, and like most of the binge-able 22-minute comedy shows I try to watch, I did not regret doing so.
I still have 2 episodes of Cobra Kai I can't ever seem to find the time for.

I'll start off by saying the plot isn't anything revolutionary. But it was totally not what I was expecting, I was expecting a very cliché cheesy teen romance. And any cliché part was done in a way that it felt (for a lack of better words) not(...?) cliché. But the plot reeled me in and I couldn't stop! I think the acting was good, and I never hated the characters, like I normally do. The ending was very fulfilling, and all the plot lines got tied up, but sadly I don't think they are going to make a season 2. Normally this isn't my type of show, but I really really enjoyed My Dead Ex.
This show will make you laugh, cry and hope for another season. Great acting with touching scenes and a cast of great actors. I highly recommend.
The first episode reels you in like few others ever have. The clever story with likable characters combined with engaging cast and only eight episodes ensure your ability to quickly digest what's going on and move on to see what's happening next. Highly recommended for all ages!
¿Sabías que…?
- TriviaThe plot is very similar to the romantic-horror-zombie-comedy, My Boyfriend's Back (1993).
