Still a good watch

I mean....I'll admit that it doesn't have the depth of other really well-crafted Kdramas, but it's still an entertaining show. I'd give it a 7.5 if IMDB would let me. Some parts of the show are cliche/corny and some of the acting could have been better. But still, to be fair, it had some pretty good moments too in terms of writing and acting, and I enjoyed it overall. Giving this 10 stars would be a stretch in my opinion, but for sure the 1 star reviews are just unfair. Still worth a watch.

✒Kang-soo To 🛵The Rescue *6.6* *Good* +Family Positive+ 💯%🔎

Here's a fable for the underdogs.

SDM follows the overlooked, everyday workers. They deliver when ☃ in winter, and 🔥 in summer, 💦 in spring, and through the lugubrious fall🍂. They are sneered more than cheered. SDM finds them forming a supportive group that gives them all a lift.

Kang-soo is the catalyst. He turns friends and acquaintances into family. His formed-family is contrasted against several actual families in the show that tear eachother apart. The family we choose is often the best we can get.

Kang-soo shows up in town and lands a job at Lively Handmade Noodles. From there, he deconstructs the whole delivery system and then rebuilds it, all while outsmarting the powerful corporate eateries. The storyline is entertaining, though formulaic. I don't see formulaic as the worst criticism, necessarily. Life, and our shared human experience, is usually formulaic. It's the journey that is most important. The journey you will take with this crowd is fun, like a Disney Channel show.

This would be a good show to watch with kids as soon as they can keep up with the subtitles. It reinforces hard work, honor, helping others and living right. In exemplifying all the above, Kang-soo is a perfect role model. He makes loyal friends out of strangers by helping others. He inspires Ji-yoon to follow suit.

The primary romance falls slightly flat. I'm not sure if the cause is the dialogue, the directing, or just a lack of seasoning. Perhaps it's a little of all the above. The secondary characters' relationship is a better story.

SDM is best suited for tweens and teens, and parents won't mind watching along. It is a simple story in the After School Special tradition, and solidly PG/PG-13.

IMHO... 🎬7 🤔5 🎭8 💓5 Suggested Age 10& up.

The second lead couple

I loved their bickering, making fun of each other, and helping each other through tough times. Honestly, every second while watching the drama I was waiting for their appearance.

But what about her mother ?

A delivery driver keeps moving every two months to a different area in Seoul to find his mother who swindled him and his father then deserted them. He ends up living and working in an alley filled with restaurants which suddenly has a large conglomerate food company move in which plans to put them all out of business. He ends up leading them in a fight for survival and finds love along the way. I Liked the girl but was not convinced by the male lead and was more interested in some of the side characters. Probably a 6.5 as it's an ok watch which hopefully reminds everybody that delivery drivers deserve respect and should not be looked down on.

so hilarious !!!

I can't call this drama '' Fun '' and do it justice, this is one of the best korean dramas, I've never been so entertained and i even laughed out loud several times. The only reason i started watching it, is because of the actor Kim Seon Ho from '' Start up '' and luckily for me i wasn't disappointed

A Blandly Executed David vs Goliath, Working-Class Romance

I probably would have rated this show a solid 7, but I took a whole star just because of that derpy haircut (because yes, however shallow it makes me, I really did find it THAT distracting)! To be honest, not much stuck out to me about this film. The feel-good, manga-like plot revolves around hard work, determination, family and friendship, but there was nothing unique or noteworthy in the way it was executed. The soundtrack needed a few more tracks to keep it fresh, and the two main leads (though fine actors in their own right) were just a mismatch IMO - both to their respective roles, and to each other. And despite there being 3+ couples who got together, the only romantic chemistry I felt during the entire show was between the Palpal restaurant owners.

Still, if you are looking for something with family-friendly values, there are worse shows out there. If you can get past the haircut, you might like it. Circumstantially Recommended.

ROMANCE RATING: 5/10. There are 5+ kiss scenes in this show (which is pretty liberal by traditional K-Drama standards), but the majority were brief and G-rated. Personally, I couldn't get into any of them because I just couldn't buy the chemistry between any of the couples (though your mileage may vary)!

Don't judge a kdrama by it's title.

I honestly didn't watched this drama before because the title gives me some vibes that the story would be so simple. But I watched because of Kim Seonho. And I just finished it now, I enjoyed the drama so much! The story is not that deep but the actors are so great, they portrayed their role very well. If you want a good laugh, a relaxing and not so heavy drama, this is for you.

I love Seonho's character and development here (the more I watched him, the more I fall haha). Gonna miss the casts huhu

Heartwarming and light

This show is cute, sweet, and light without being too silly or over the top. The acting was good, and most of the male characters were likable, especially the male lead, Kang-soo. None of the female characters were likable except the grandma who sold ox bone stew. The female lead, Dan-ah, was too violent, and the secondary female lead, Ji-yun, was just plain psychotic. It also would have been nice if the soundtrack consisted of more than three songs, but I think that's just how K-dramas are in general. Aside from that, it was an enjoyable show to watch, even if it is just fluff. You could definitely do worse.

Just the film to watch

Makes me laugh and reminds me that everyone struggles everyday, whether you are rich or poor and in debt. Keep moving and dont forget to enjoy your life no matter how bad it may seem or what you are going through.

Easy to watch and entertaining.

A more realistic, more natural history, without exaggerations. The script is well written, distributing balanced enough interesting content in all the episodes, without falling into exaggerations. A bit of small business, stories of love, friendship, solidarity, with humor. The team of actors is made up of experienced veterans, but also young actors, at that time at the beginning such as Kim Seon Ho and others. Chae Soo Bin has a demanding role, in which he shows his talent to express different emotions, he goes from hardness and hopelessness in society, a bit of martial arts, strikes more or less delicately 😂, humor then reaches feelings and more feminine approaches than the beginning as an independent woman. Go Kyung-Pyo also does a good role, like everyone else. It's the series with the highest density of shining eyes on the screen, the cinematography would have had something to do with it😍. There would be many things to note, but the best is to see. It doesn't bore you, it doesn't keep you in suspense for nothing, it's the work of a team that does exactly what it has to do, to entertain the audience. For me, as a European, they succeeded.

PRETTY GOOD + Charming scene-stealer

I discovered this 2017 K-Drama by accident & am glad I did. A key factor was seeing Chae Soo Bin in the credits, & this was the show she did before the wonderful "I'm Not A Robot". The story here centres on the world of scooter riders in Seoul & the meals they deliver. Specifically, a small restaurant where the main rider is ( unusually ) a female called Dan Ah ( CSB ). She's a tough, cynical young woman who is diligently focussed on saving money & emigrating away from Korea ( or "Hell Joseon" as she calls it ). Into her life comes innocent/idealistic new delivery recruit Kang Soo ( Go Kyung Pyo in his first lead series role ). Also important is rich playboy Jin Kyu ( Kim Seon Ho ) & black-sheep rich girl Ji Yoon ( Go Won Hee ) rounding out the main group. And eager to destroy the small eateries in the area is an evil corporate competitor. So it isn't very hard to guess the basic outcomes, be they personal or business, yet the script is well-written ( apart from an annoying little lapse regarding the apocalyptic final ep & a villain without much personality ) and is pleasingly thoughtful most of the time. The ending is a major beneficiary of this approach & all four relationships in the series are also handled well. Of course, a K-Drama requires tragedy/tears & we get them, plus there's an undercurrent of pessimism which definitely recalls the tone of "Parasite". But don't worry, there's plentiful humour too & even a few bits of Japanese-style cuteness. A large cast are typically accomplished & the leads have good chemistry. I do want to single out Go Won Hee, though, for special praise : she steals most scenes she's in & is a fun, engaging presence throughout ( a scene where she challenges Dan Ah to a fight is especially memorable ). As to the title, I would've preferred "We Deliver !". Or an apparent alternative is "Best Deliveryman". You decide.

Way Too Much Abuse

I've watched Korean dramas for about 8 years, so I'm used to watching Koreans hit each other. Parents hit kids, siblings hit siblings, friends beat friends and lovers hit lovers. But this series takes abuse to a new level, trying to normalize it like it's funny. It is not. It must be a huge societal problem in South Korea because you see it in almost every program. In this one, it's the women who are violent, abusive and selfish. It ruined what was otherwise an entertaining series. I got tired of watching the female lead kick and beat everyone, and act unbearably cruel for no reason whatsoever. It's time to stop watching Korean dramas. I don't want to support the violence and excessive materialism anymore.

Strongest by Hitting

This would have received a higher rating, however Dan ah consistently using hitting everyone to get her point across became quite frustrating and annoying. We get it....she can fight. But her first response to everything was to hit. Even at the ending to ask Kang Soo to come back...she slaps him. Unnecessary use of "violence." This is displaying tonget your point across hit first and speak later. I found her character to be rude and ob obnoxious. Thankfully the other two female characters picked up the slack. Kang Soo showed great characteristics. The storyline proves that being kindhearted will bring good things to you. When you don't gave family, your friends step up.

Tries to make ridiculous storyline

Protagonist is mad at the guy who blocked the road over the guy who actually hit his friend? Really?

It has some comical elements that I did like, but overall just can't root for the protagonist.

Stupid

I guess America is to blame for making so many movies that show females physically besting males that now Korea has decided to follow this Stupid unrealistic, misguided, trend. What? Women can't use intelligence, cunning, sex appeal, to compete with men, they have to use their tiny bodies to beat-up men twice their size? The girl in this series sometimes beats-up 2 or 3 men at a time. One problem with this unreal version of female empowerment is that many women become convinced that they can actually, physically overpower men and then many of those women end up in emergency rooms after finding out the hard way that - No, that's just tv, it's not the real world. Shows like this are an insult to the intelligence of men and women.
