I have to agree with the previous reviewer, the lead actress Lexi Giovagnoli really needs to go back to drama school. Her resume says she auditioned for Chicago and got the part of Roxy - well, I can only think it was a school production, because she didn't show any skill of dancing in this film.
The storyline is fine, and put in the hands of another actress then it would have worked. I would say that whoever does the casting should at least get extras who can dance a few steps to look authentic rather than just sway from side to side. I have seen Lexi Giovagnoli in other roles for Hallmark, and sadly she is not amongst the top in their stable of actors/actresses.

I normally like hallmark-ish movies and marvista's tv romance movies. But even though this one just looked too plain. The acting was not believable, some of the actors looked pretty amateur plus the secondary characters were so badly written, it looked like the screenwriter just used one word to describe them. The problems and motivations were not serious enough, as if the same lazy screenwriter just thought "ok, we need this according to the plot, so let's choose the most obvious idea" so we're just left wondering "what? why?". The general plot idea was not bad, but it could have been so much more. James Welch Henderson, Arkansas 3/16/2021
This movie is badly directed. The dialog and acting seem awkward and stiff. This is a story about a dance studio in financial trouble. A ballroom dancing competition promises hope. There's a rekindling of an old romance. Lexi seems to dance okay and Brant is fresh off DWTS. But their final dance number isn't exciting or impressive.
I watched this entire movie because I am a long-time Daugherty fan. But, it was hard to watch. The story was the usual spin off of the "Save the.... By having a ..." In this case ... was a Dance Studio... by reuniting.high school sweethearts (reluctantly) for a dance competition.
Numerous problems with this were evident from the first: 1- Absolutely no chemistry between the two leads. 2- casting Lexi was a mis-cast of epic proportions: not a good actor, not a good dancer, not a team player. 3- the Weak storyline needed interesting, i.e. Interested characters to help develop the story into a tension building story of romance between the leads.... Never happened. Not even slightly believable.
Perhaps extenuating reasons for this failure on Lexi's part included 1) poor dance experience (she was stiff, uncoordinated, looked scared during most of the performances) 2) Her costumes were very poorly chosen for color and fit-not good.
To sum up all these comments: This movie had it all: Poor Script, Poor Director, Poor Costumer, and Poor Casting.... It Just Doesn't Work.... Two thumbs Down.
