Are TV stars — or, at any rate, people who have appeared on television — more reliable magnets for digital audiences than internet-native creators?
Kin Community was founded in 2011 as a specialized YouTube multichannel network aimed at young female audiences, aggregating content from creators like Rosanna Pansino (of Nerdy Nummies), Hannah Hart (MyHarto), Jenn Im (Clothes Encounters), and Lauren Riihimaki (LaurDIY).

The change in strategy is based on the success Kin has found from Tia Mowry’s “Quick Fix,” which launched last fall as a weekly show offering up tips and life hacks for moms. In an NBA conference playoffs year that has been full of drama, the Houston Rockets’ 98-94 victory over current champions the Golden State Warriors on Thursday certainly cranked it up on an otherwise placid primetime.
With the Rockets now leading 3-2 in the best-of-7 Western Conference Finals, Houston is only one win away from its first trip to the NBA Finals since Bill Clinton’s first term as President. It is a journey that has attracted a lot of attention — last night’s Game 5 pulled in a 7.0 in metered market ratings for TNT. That result handed the league and the cabler the top spot across cable and broadcast and proved the highest-rated NBA playoff game on any network so far this season.
Last year’s Western Conference Finals only went four games before eventual champ Golden State headed off to the finals against Cleveland, so a direct comparison is a...

The series finale of “Scandal” on ABC was up significantly week-to-week in the Thursday overnight ratings but failed to top previous Season 7 highs.
Airing at 10 p.m., “Scandal” drew a 1.3 rating in adults 18-49 and 5.4 million viewers. That is up over 40% in the demo and approximately 29% in total viewers over last week. It was also higher in both measures than the season averages going into the finale. “Scandal” was also the top-rated show of the hour at 10 and narrowly edged out its timeslot competition in total viewers.
However, it did not beat the Season 7 demo high of 1.4, which was drawn by the season premiere back in October. The most-watched episode of this season was the Feb. 1 episode, which drew 5.6 million viewers. This was also the second lowest-rated and second least-watched season finale in series history, beating only the Season 6 finale, which drew a 1.2 and 5.2 million viewers last year.

ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy this Thursday drew 7.1 million total viewers and a 1.7 demo rating (per finals), slipping 5 percent and three tenths to its smallest audience since May 11 and matching its series low in the demo (most recently set 11 months ago).
It would be silly to infer causation, but the slippage did happen to come in the wake of Thursday’s big news that veteran cast members Jessica Capshaw and Sarah Drew are on their way out after Season 14.
Leading out of Grey’s, Scandal (4.7 mil/1.1) and Htgawm (3.4 mil/0.9) respectively dipped one and two tenths from last week’s crossover event.
