Zach Cregger's film "Barbarian" cause a minor stir when it was released in 2022. Made for a downright modest budget of $4.5 million, the film raked in $45 million at the box office, grabbing the attention of many enthused fright fans seeking new voices in the pop horror zeitgeist.

"Barbarian" was also one of many films in the emerging microgenre of Airbnb-related horror -- Fearbnb? -- wherein the protagonists check into a bed-and-breakfast, only to find something eerie or menacing about the house they've paid for. The genre also included films like "The Rental," "Superhost," "You Should Have Left," and "Room for Rent." Fearbnb movies were timely, tapping into the public's uneasiness with a total lack of regulation in the upstart self-rental business; if no one is overseeing your Airbnb, who is to say the homeowner isn't keeping a monster in their basement?

Stonecutter Media has announced that they will be giving Aaron’s Blood director Tommy Stovall’s Faustian tale Condition of Return a weeklong theatrical release on September 22nd, and will also be bringing the film to Vudu and Cable VOD on the same date. Here’s a first look at the trailer for the post-apocalyptic thriller Stronghold, written and directed by Julia Camara.

Stronghold is a dystopian tale of resilience in which a young survivalist and her mother live completely isolated in the woods. When a distressed stranger appears, their lives are disrupted and their future threatened.

Gravitas Ventures will release the film August 1st.

Toplining Camara’s cast are Bianca A. Santos and Jaqueline Fleming as the familial pair in peril, and Oliver Rayón as the stranger who threatens the isolated duo. The film premiered at the Pan African Film Festival in Los Angeles.

Audiences will see the final Lambert family chapter when Insidious: The Red Door premieres this Friday. The fifth installment in the Insidious film franchise, The Red Door serves as a sequel to the second film and is set ten years after. Along with the Lamberts, portrayed by Patrick Wilson, Ty Simpkins, Rose Byrne, and Andrew Astor, Lin Shaye returns as psychic Elise Rainier. Shaye has been a fixture in the film series, appearing in all chapters. As audiences may recall, Elise has been connected to Josh (Wilson) since childhood, and was contacted by his mother to assist with the Bride in Black, who was intent on killing and possessing Josh. Although Elise is killed by the Bride in Black during the first film, she returned for the second film as a spirit inhabiting The Further.

Coming soon from director Julia Camara, Deadline reports today that Gravitas Ventures has acquired North American rights to Stronghold, said to be a post apocalyptic thriller.

Deadline previews today, “Stronghold is a dystopian tale of resilience in which a young survivalist and her mother live completely isolated in the woods. When a distressed stranger appears, their lives are disrupted and their future threatened.”

Bianca A. Santos and Jaqueline Fleming star alongside Oliver Rayón.

Executive producers for the upcoming Stronghold are Suzette Saffold, T. Bankolé, Jaqueline Fleming, Ken Mask, Greg Ward and Jaq Entertainment Group.

Gravitas Ventures, an Anthem Sports & Entertainment Company, has picked up North American rights to the post-apocalyptic thriller Stronghold, directed by Julia Camara. In addition to US & Canada; Gravitas wants to add Latin American territories in addition to Mexico including the Caribbean and sub territories.”

The deal was brokered by Gravitas Senior Director of Acquisitions, Bill Guentzler, and Jeffrey Cooper, Owner of Cut Entertainment Group.

Exclusive: Miki Ishikawa (The Falcon And The Winter Soldier), Sierra McCormick (American Horror Stories) and Nick Sagar (The Princess Switch) have signed on to star in the indie horror-drama, I Don’t Want to Drink Your Blood Anymore, from writer-director Andrew Sullivan (Bokeh).

The film follows Eiko (Ishikawa), a Japanese American teenage vampire, suffering from agoraphobia, caused by the trauma from the night her family was murdered and she was turned. Unable and unwilling to leave her family’s home, she not only loses track of time, but time itself. Eiko spends most of her years avoiding others and trying not to live life as a vampire, but the world won’t leave her alone. Raz Cunningham and Geoffrey Orthwein are producing, with Sullivan serving as executive producer. The production companies involved are Zealous Pictures and LittleFire.

Exclusive: Corbin Bernsen (Showtime’s City on a Hill), Timothy V. Murphy (TNT’s Snowpiercer) and Jeremy Holm (House of Cards) have signed on to star in the horror film Herd, from director Steven Pierce.

The indie co-written by Pierce and James Allerdyce tells the story of a woman who ends up trapped between a zombie outbreak and warring militias as she tries to outrun her past. Pierce is producing Herd as the inaugural feature under his newly-minted Fp banner, alongside Allerdyce, Lori Kay, Matt Mundy and Bret Carr. Production will commence in Missouri early next month.

Exclusive: Deadline has a new trailer for Alaskan Nets, a sports documentary executive produced by Chris Pratt and his production company Invisible Productions that Good Deed Entertainment is releasing on digital and VOD on April 8.

The film from director Jeff Harasimowicz takes viewers to an island that lies off the coast of Southeast Alaska. Remote and largely hidden from the outside world, it’s home to the Tsimshian natives of Alaska’s last remaining native reserve: Metlakatla. Exclusive: In a bid to gain ground on rivals, UK film PR and marketing firm Strike Media is partnering with U.S. PR firm October Coast to offer combined services for clients across the UK & Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and North America.

The first project out of the combined PR partnership will be sci-fi horror feature Come True for Lightbulb Film Distribution. A tentative theatrical date of March 12 is set for the UK and Ireland, with Tvod from March 15. Australia and New Zealand’s Tvod release date is March 17.

In addition, the two firms are weighing up the potential to jointly acquire select film distribution rights in UK/Ire, Aus/Nz and North America. Both companies will attend the virtual EFM in March.

August’s horror and sci-fi home media releases are kicking off with an eclectic, but fantastic bunch, led by Arrow Video’s special edition release of Alice, Sweet Alice. Raro Video is resurrecting Lucio Fulci’s Touch of Death this week, and if you happened to miss them earlier this year, both The Curse of La Llorona and Charlie Says will be hitting both formats on Tuesday.
