Trama

Philipp (Urs Jucker) wants to make his sick father Walter (Peter Freiburghaus) happy one last time. To lure him out of his hospital bed, he resorts to a white lie: Philipp claims that his father has finally won the lottery - millions, Walter's old dream. After this happy news, Walter actually recovers and wants to enjoy his good fortune once again. He wants to pay off his debts and give his children and friends everything he was never able to give. Philipp, together with his sister (Liliane Amuat) and Walter's friends, must now pretend to have won the fictitious millions and do everything they can to prevent the fraud from being discovered.—SRF

Philip always has the feeling that he is not enough for his father. Nothing he does really seems to please his father. And now Walter has cancer too - he might not have long to live. And Philipp is running out of time to do something that pleases his father again. It hurts Philipp to see how unhappy his father is with the meager balance of his life. He tries to distract him, to cheer him up. But nothing helps. Walter has given up. He no longer eats or drinks - he wants to leave.

Finally, Philipp resorts to a white lie. He wants Walter to be happy at least once more before he dies: Philipp claims that his father has finally won the lottery, millions even, just as Walter had dreamed of. And the good news is well received. Too good: Walter recovers once again and now wants to enjoy his good fortune in the time he has left to live. He wants to pay off his debts and give his children and friends everything he was never able to give.

Together with his sister and Walter's friends, Philipp now has to act out the made-up millions. During this crazy time, the community comes closer together than ever before. Philipp learns that he has misunderstood many things in recent years. Walter was not dissatisfied with him, but with himself. He had always reproached himself for not being able to give Philipp more. During this time as a millionaire, Philipp is able to make it clear to his father that Walter was a good father, even without money. And at the same time, Philipp understands more and more that he was loved - and how.

In the end, the scam is exposed. Walter is disappointed. But his resentment doesn't last long. Walter dies penniless - but enriched. And Philipp can say goodbye to his father in peace.
