Irritating.

The bride to be is so annoying, spineless and gives in too easily to everyone. How can you get married when you don't even know yourself and your own mind. Her mother should have been told to back off well before half way through, if not by the daughter, by her husband. There is no chemistry here, I think because of the brides shallow attitude. Gosh if you had a man like that love you you'd get married anywhere.

Where has Adam Senn been all my life?

This film was deceitfully on the Christmas channel in December. It is not a Christmas film at all, but rather set just beforehand. So it is wintery and in some ways festive, but not to the standards I look for. I was able to watch it to the end however, as it wasn't a bad film at all, it just wasn't amazing, although I did like the romance.

I found it easy to watch because Nick Bateman (The lead male) is basically sex on legs and it helped that his characters brother was played by Adam Senn, who is also rather nice to look at. Some would say gorgeous!

The main female is not what I would call leading lady material, but does the job ok. None of the rest of the cast do a bad job either, but the girls mother is really quite a piece of work. I can't stand these sorts of characters.

If you want some eye candy then tune in, but don't expect Carols and Snowmen.

Not a good movie

This movie is not very good due to miscasting of the bride and groom. Also, the character of the bride's mother is awful. She needed to be put in her place much earlier in the story rather than continue to be a very negative and awful influence in the story line. Too much of the story line is take up by "making the mother happy" rather than what the couple's wishes are and what they want. I kept waiting for the daughter/bride to grow a spine but she never did before I turned it off. She was pathetic because she let her mother run over her and also for not supporting her fiance/. This movie was so bad I didn't finish watching it.

Coupling was off putting.

I love most Hallmark movies and I did enjoy watching this but not as much as I would have with different actors. The two main characters were not suited to each other at all. The male lead was far too handsome for Andrea Bowen who is a very pretty girl but no where near pretty enough to be matched with the male, I kept thinking, why is he with her and not with someone like her best friend. I also couldn't understand why anyone would think the two choices of wedding dress were nice in any way. They looked cheap- like a supermarket wedding dress. Definitely not a dress that someone who came from a rich family would wear. This was a big fail for the wardrobe department and they were also very on the lovely Andrea. I hated the mum character- she was horrible to everyone but loved the dance scene in the barn- it put a smile on my face. The other two parents had great chemistry and looked to be very much in love,

Changed my mind

Total rewritten review after watching a second time: What was I thinking? Maybe because there have been so many of the same Hallmark-like movies that I'm tired of them.

This starts out as another wedding disaster movie. And it is a combination of slow same old stuff and being totally annoyed with Deidre, the bride's mom. I'm surprised Hallie wasn't locked in her room until she was 40 years old.

About 2/3rd there is what for me was a big surprise. (I had totally forgotten that I had already seen this and totally forgotten all about it.) This becomes totally a unique story.

This isn't exactly a romance story in that there is never any doubt about the main couple. But it is interesting how that handle the obstacles.

I'm going to leave the first review as a comparison. I was a little hard on the acting. That's another thing. With all the dilution of talent and stories in the past couple years due to Hallmark premiering 40 or so non-Christmas movies a year and two other networks showing similar movies, there has been a lot of poor acting and same old stories. These actors here are decent by comparison, even if not quite up to some of my favorite stars.

Original review: The story is both a little slow and at times a little sensationalized. But then wedding days are a cauldron of emotions, so maybe it's not so unrealistic. But a better question is why did this story need to be told? It's just not that interesting. There are highs and lows, but no surprises There are tender moments, but they don't save the movie.

The acting is not great either. Emotional scenes are overly dramatized and some sentimental moments are too stiff. Two things did come through well. Hallie and Quinn have a special friendship. And likewise Lucas really does love Hallie and she him.

Mom, Deidre, is so annoying, but that's one of the more effective things in the movie. It doesn't mean I enjoyed that aspect. Hallie is a bit timid as a real compromising person. Again, the bride in a wedding does have a difficult time and unless there is someone really standing up for the bride, she feels the need to please strongly. The alternative is Bridzilla. And compromise is a necessary part of life.

Perhaps there is a message here that the "dream wedding" is overrated.

INFURIATING

Giving one star for Nick Bateman. I only left this on because the remote was too far to reach and I was drinking baileys under a blanket. If you want to hate everyone and everything you should watch this film. Selfish horrible characters. Bad casting. Annoying and horrible. Someone give the brides mother a slap.

Nick Bateman Saves This Movie

Nick Bateman Saves this movie.

Unfortunately this movie's plot is thin, focusing on one superficial aspect of planning a wedding. So the drama is very light. Dont expect life altering lessons from watching this movie.

However most of the actors do the best you could expect with the material. The main couple's chemistry is tame but then again it's a Hallmark movie not Showtime. Plus there's a secondary couple with a romanctic plotline too.

Ultimately, if you're looking for romantic escapism this will certainly do the trick because lead Nick Bateman is not just adorable but oozes charm. (Heart him!)

Awful Awful Awful

The story is awful AND the acting is awful. The only appealing thing about this movie is the location. The bride is a pushover and the bride's mother is unbearable. What a waste of time!

Horrible Mother of the Bride ruins the entire movie

And the silly relationship between the best man and maid of honor is equally as ridiculous.

Who matched this couple?!!!! this isn't a Xmas movie

I may sound superficial. But this couple match just didn't do it for me. The bride and groom didn't look like a real couple at all. The chemistry just wasn't there, especially when it came the romantic scenes. It just seemed forced. The story didn't need to be told, the acting was over and under done, and once again the bride and groom didn't work as a couple for me. But I finished the movie anyways in hopes it would get better. All I can say is.... I wish I could get my 1hr 29min back.

And on top of everything this wasn't even a Christmas movie. I know it's called "A winter wedding". But they are pushing this movie as a Christmas movie.. which it is not! I definitely won't be watching this movie again.

Called Winter Wedding on Hulu

Why is this called by a different title in Hulu??? It was cheesy. Typical hallmark type of film. I couldn't figure out who one of the woman were, it's the gay ex wife of Ross in friends; that was fun to see her again.

Slow and predictable.

Typical film for TV, could be a 100 serie drama. Everything is very slow. The characters discuss the same topic too many times with one another. Seems inspired by The Bold and the Beautiful. This movie is not for men to watch.

makes Hallmark movies look like Shakespeare

Horrifyingly bad acting, one dimensional characters, improbable coincidences and bizarre plot twists combine to create a movie that is beyond annoying and unwatchable. If I hadn't had it on in the background while doing chores I would have given up on it half way through. I honestly thought at one point in my life that Hallmark Movies were the low point of made-for-TV movies, but streaming services have made it clear to me that no in fact that is NOT the case. For the oldies, this is a straight to video quality effort at best. Who knows where it aired and its so bad it has two names, so bad they named it twice?

Sickening

How can anyone abide the nauseating sentimentality of this or any movie of this sort. The cloying sweetness is appalling, and the whiny attention-seeking behavior is more than I can stand. Why don't they make a movie where ordinary people, that is those who are not flawlessly attractive, decide to get married. Their parents need to actually be real people who are occasionally irritating and butt in constantly. Also, the in-laws need to be wary of each other; just because your children are getting married does not mean you are automatically best friends. Get rid of the cheesy wedding with the ridiculous homemade vows. When the guy said something about them having made their vows in front of God, in a completely secular ceremony, I thought , no. God had to go outside and spit up after listening to all that slosh.

way to much miscommunication.

Everything about this very dialogue-heavy movie is just way to hectic. The chemistry between the leads is ok, providing for some good emotional scenes that sound like real life exchanges between people in love. There was so much going on in the story, even though the pace is slow compared to other family dramas that hop along with alacrity - from first kiss to resolution of the conflicts. This story gives the viewer a lot to think about - and wonder who will say what, or do what. We know it will be a happy ending. Getting there is just weird at times.
