Ventilator is a simple movie in terms of locations, production values & budget. But it is very high in terms of content, fun & emotions. It narrates a very touching story of a father-son, brothers, brother- sister. 2nd half is so high on emotions & beautifully waved that you cant help but cry. Perspective of a father & son towards their relation is beautifully narrated.
Overall its a must watch. Also since it is shown with English subtitles, even non-marathi people can watch & enjoy the movie.
In typical Raju Hirani fashion the story assumes the role of the superstar hero and you empathize with the characters immediately. The character sketches are so well defined that you can find each of these characters around you without mistaking them for caricatures.
Although, the title betrays what the movie is about there are many layers to enjoy here. Right from the father-son relationship to the role of an extended family, to the importance we give to our traditions or a snarky reference to the exorbitant expenses of health care and the struggles of people who not necessarily have the means to afford such care. The movie definitely leaves you with enough to ponder on. In fact, the title could easily be a play on our relations being on a ventilator and it being up to us when we plug the ventilator off.
A must watch for every family, especially the younger generation to understand that family is there for a reason and Facebook and Twitter can't replace it.
'Ventilator' is a beautiful journey of complicated human relations, father-son relationship, misunderstandings and priorities. The melange of humorous and sentimental scenes keeps audience involved throughout the film. Kudos to the entire team! The team of veteran actors did full justice to the script and portrayed each character with excellence. Especially 'Jitendra Joshi','Ashutosh Gowarikar' , 'Sukanya Mone' and 'Satish Alekar' just nailed it! In addition, it was delightful to see Unmesh uncle (our next door neighbor in Mumbai) in few scenes. :) It is admirable to see Priyanka Chopra promoting Indian regional films through her production house. In short, Priyanka's 'Purple Pebble Pictures Production' enters Marathi industry with a milestone movie and one can't afford to miss it.

There are so many characters and all have acted well.. Frankly speaking, I haven't seen such a fantastic script anytime in recent years. This movie will make you realize that you definitely have to respect and put more time to understand your parents' view/their opinions. Hats off to Jitendra Joshi, Ashutosh Gowariker and Rajesh Mapuskar.. Tremendous job!!
