Call Your Father

About a not so inspired film, you could say - it has good intentions. "Call Your Father" is not from this category. Because "the good intentions" are the source of its low level. Two dumbs as representatives for different generations. Talk, crazy facts, worst dialogue, awful end. And that is all. After the final credits, you looking for a small explanation behind this bad- bad movie. And you make a big mistake, the second after you saw it. Because no explanation works. Only many crumbs , mixed and used together.

Two men, one fifty, the other twenty-four, go on a first date.

Do people really talk like the younger man in this? So pompous and self-involved and judgmental? I'm sure it seems that way sometimes when dealing with some people, but perhaps this image is intended to be satirical of some of the people the film makers have met.

If so, the result is a movie that had me cringing from almost the first minute, when the younger guy brings a huge teddy bear as a gift, announces he's going to keep it, and starts talking about the things that interest him. None of which I found interesting. Not even the obvious non-relationship.

Had I been the older guy in this setting, it would have been about a 3-minute movie, if that. Perhaps it should have been. Not sure what message the writer/filmmaker is trying to convey. Nothing came through.

If either character truly represented their team, it would be more depressing. I don't think either one does. I do know people like each of them, to be sure. But they are both best avoided.

I don't know how the other reviewers came up with 600 characters to share about this movie. I wanted to submit only the first paragraph. Then I had to add the second. Now this. I could let it go without adding a review at all, but that seemed unfair. I did watch it. I checked at least four times in this 19 minute movie to see how many minutes were remaining. I honestly thought that the unwatchable first minutes were going to be rewarded by some insightful concluding minutes, but...

Ok. That's the 600 I needed. It's all yours.
