GÖTEBORG, Sweden — Swedish prodco Dramacorp has signed with U.K. scribe Michael Robert Johnson for the English-language supernatural thriller “Heritage” (a working title).
Co-writers are Göteborg-based Morgan Jensen and Theo Gabay. The show, in early development, deals with modern elitism and hereditary. In it, a young female teacher, Evelyn Hemmings, is caught right in the midst of a brutal ritual murder at a prestigious U.K. boarding school in the wilds of Scotland, where the children of the elite study. There is a cover up since national security is at stake. During her private investigation, she realizes that disturbing and ancient dark forces are at play and that the murder has both highly political and occult interests.

Joyn has acquired a trio of international drama series from Beta Film. The German streaming service, run by local media giant ProSiebenSat.1 and Discovery, has acquired Alex Pina’s acclaimed Spanish drama “The Pier,” Nordic noir thriller “Hassel,” and Russian drama “Trigger.”
A U.S. deal is understood to be in the offing for “The Pier,” which Beta has also sold to HBO Europe, Sbs in Australia, and Mbc in the Middle East. Leading Hollywood-based sales and finance agency, Sierra/Affinity has begun international sales for action film “Red Snake,” at the Cannes Film Market. The film is directed by Caroline Fourest and features a predominantly female cast.
The cast includes Dilan Gwyn, Cesar Award winner Camelia Jordana (“Le Brio”), Amira Casar (“Call Me by Your Name”), Esther Garrel (“Call Me by Your Name”), Maya Sansa (“Italian Romance”), Noush Skaugen (“The Conjouring 2”), Nanna Blondell (“Hassel”) and Mark Ryder (“Borgia”).
