/refers to Season 1/
Rapl follows Detective Kunesh, a tough and troubled cop who is sent to a remote border town as punishment after beating up his ex-wife's boyfriend. There, he must solve the unsolved murder of a policewoman while also dealing with constant crime in the area, from smuggling and drugs to murder and corruption. Each episode brings a new case, all tied into a larger story about justice, loyalty, and personal demons.
The Series stands out from other "troubled detective" shows thanks to its strong atmosphere, solid acting, and clever storytelling. Hynek Chermak plays Kunesh with raw intensity, making the character believable and engaging. The cases are interesting and mostly realistic, with a good mix of action, drama, and dark humour. There's a Nordic-noir feel, but it's less over-the-top and more grounded in Czech reality. This Series is worth watching due to its suspense and character depth, especially the way it mixes personal struggles with crime-solving.
Thus, Rapl is widely seen as one of the best recent Czech crime dramas. It may not be perfect, but it's gripping, thoughtful, and very watchable. If you enjoy detective stories with flawed heroes, moral dilemmas, and a strong sense of place, this is worth your time. I try to find and watch Season 2 as well.
