Derivative generic tripe. Unbelievable and unrealistic. Poorly choreographed fight scenes and a waste of a number of good actors time and energy. Jessica Elba is looking good but is wasted in this movie . The storyline has been portrayed before in a number of similar movies which were better executed . It also went from the unbelievable to the preposterous in the last thirty minutes or so of the movie . I actually started writing this review with 20 minutes left to go as the nonsense had passed the point of no return . I hope Jessica Elba is offered better scripts for any future movies she considers .

Another movie from the Netflix bargain table. If you switch off your mind, it is still reasonably entertaining. Some of the fight scenes are well realized. But on the whole, in my opinion, the production is only mediocre. The thin story is predictable and you can save yourself the last quarter of an hour, there are no more surprises. In terms of acting, the whole thing is pretty mixed to very bad. So this movie fits in with the typical Netflix productions. It's not about quality but about content. If it goes on like this, I'll have to cancel my Netflix subscription too. If you have nothing else to do, you can watch the movie, but don't expect too much.

Jessica Alba undoubtedly possesses the qualities needed to shine as an action star. Her performance is comparable to Jennifer Lopez in "The Mother" and Gal Gadot in "Heart of Stone" where both actresses showcase substantial talent. However, much like them, she is hampered by a poorly written script that fails to support her or any of the other cast members effectively. This recurring issue not only diminishes her potential impact but also the overall quality of the production, leaving much to be desired from what could otherwise be standout roles. It's just watchable on a rainy day when you don't have any other movie to turn to.

How easy is it to actually sell a script to Netflix?
Take a look at Trigger Warning and you'll know. The script is incredibly bad and full of bad cliches. The director is absolutely out of her depth with everything, but worst of all with the action scenes. Even Jessica Alba can't save this lousy movie, but that seems to be her fault. According to the motto: Take the money and run. Too bad, because Alba is a really great actress. Just not in Trigger Warning. If you want to get upset about a badly made movie, then watch Trigger Warning.
And to the people at Netflix, just fire the entire script department, if you have one at all.

This movie receives a maximum of two stars from me. Some scenes in the movie have no continuity. This movie has terrible direction. Jessica Alba's acting prowess has been demonstrated in her prior films. However, in this one, there is acting confusion in every scene. Actually, hardly a single scene has any life in it. Discovering the cause of the heroine's father's death is the main goal of the film. It's a completely bad film. From the outset, it presents a quiet atmosphere in a desolate setting with few actors. It's like an inexperienced director took a nonsense script and cast it. Even with a bad screenplay, these kinds of thrillers ought to have better acting. Jessica doesn't even know how to hold a knife correctly in this film. A group of dramatists who were unaware of the circumstances made up the co-actors. Come on, Netflix is the greatest place to see if a movie is good or horrible right now.

I tried, I really did. I like Jessica Alba and generally enjoy these special forces revenge dramas, even if I have to overlook some shortcomings and suspend disbelief.
But this was so, so, so bad. Netflix, just when I don't think you can defecate on your audience any more nastily, you do it again, taking it to new lows.
Right off the bat it's terrible dialogue...and there weren't even many words needed in the first scene. Then come the hilariously bad stunts (every reaction happens a full second before the action that caused it, for example). Then the usual cliches and more bad dialog. A chainsaw that mysteriously starts itself without gasoline or battery to be used as a weapon. Ok, I'm out. I pushed through for 26 minutes and that was 25.5 too many.

Jessica Alba's career managers should be fired. Netflix should fire the entire team responsible for choosing film scripts. Not even the worst North Korean B-movie screenwriter would write a script like that. And I didn't even mention the technical team And director, etc.. The action scenes are so poorly done that they wouldn't even be used in Rambo. Poor visual and sound effects. The editing does not follow the continuity. Many points were not clarified. Anyway, don't waste your time. Poor Jessica, who didn't see the light of day this time, remains in the darkness of Hollywood's second echelon.

Not as bad as the average rating suggests, it is not a typical trash B movie, it is an OK, watchable movie, but there is definitely nothing special here. It is a relatively low-budget, average, typical, generic action-crime flick with a basic premise that is the premise of hundreds of Hollywood flicks: the main protagonist is pissed off because someone who is close to her is killed and she takes her revenge. We have seen that thousands of time. Another run-off-the-mill Netflix action movie. Jessica Alba is only really known from the James Cameron-created "Dark Angel" series and from "The Fantastic Four" and "Sin City". Here she is OK, not bad, but not Oscarworthy either.

I was looking forward for this since I saw the trailer. Now I've seen it, I have to say: it disappoints.
The acting is poor, like all characters are based on the stereotypes in every hero-returns-home-to-set-things-straight movie. It all feels boring and lifeless. Like they have to, but don't want to.
Except for Jessica Alba, that is. She's trying, but can't carry the whole movie on her own. Nevertheless, she does a fairly good job and probably could do even better with a decent script.
The overall story isn't very original, but that shouldn't be a problem. After all, hero returns home is a genre in itself. But then the script and acting must be up to standard...
But hey, the fight scenes are great and I really hope to see Jessica Alba in more action flicks!

With Netflix being on a roll lately, I figured this had to be at worst, a decent movie. I was wrong. Jessica Alba is at her worst here. The role was not meant for her and she proves it throughout the movie. It never is exciting or suspenseful. The characters are really never developed. It rambles from scene to scene and you keep losing interest more and more. I was expecting something better just by the name of the movie but the title should be Warning, Don't Waste your time watching it. It tries too hard to be a tough girl movie. Unfortunately it needed a tough girl. It also needed a better director and a better script. Don't waste your time with this dreadful film.

Amazing how many great movies have a LOT of bad reviews? I have come to know that if there are a lot of bad reviews for a movie and a few good ones in it then it's usually a fun movie to see. I have yet to be wrong. This one was action packed, has a great story, good actors, and characters they play, nothing questionable, no nudity, no foul language, no graphic violence, lots of gun play and suspense. Jessica Alba plays the lead as an ex special forces operative returning to her home way way out in the desert sticks where her dad has a bar and a mine. Her dad is killed in the mine and things escalate from there. Believable story and well played. Good fight scenes and a few could have been better, but was a fun watch. Enjoy.

Jessica, this letter is to you. I've had a small crush on you since Dark Angel. That was a great show and you made it iconic.
I understand someone told you Trigger Warning was the way back, but the script was just weak. The characters were cliched or one dimensional, and the writing was simplistic. You were good enough for this not to stain you, but the next thing has to be better.
For a real comeback, please buy the rights to Dark Angel and remake it, perhaps with Joss Whedon as director with a fair bit of violence, plot complexity, and anti-hero character development.
Anyway, please fire your career advisor and don't let the combat training you did go to waste.

It's always ominous when a film is Netflix 'straight to streaming' and lead actress (the still gorgeous) Jessica Alba hasn't made a decent movie in years, so no surprise here then, it's pants.
Things actually start out ok with a well choreographed action sequence, but soon descend into formulaic tv movie territory once Alba returns home to the New Mexico desert after receiving news of the mysterious death of her ex-marine father.
The paper thin plot involves a bunch of dodgy local illegal arms dealers and corrupt local politics with Alba going into full-on female Chuck Norris mode once she finds out what's going on amongst the cliches and sagebrush.
Of course the storyline has been done a million times (better) before, the no-name supporting cast are bland and throwaway while the screenplay meanders along to its generic ending almost two hours later!
In summation, this forgettable rubbish would've been better served as a mini-series on Hulu or Peacock rather than a Netflix feature film! Oh well, time to break out the X-Files and Twin Peaks DVDs again and remember what good viewing USED to look like.

First, J Lo. Now, Jessica Alba, too.
I love J Lo and I love Jessica Alba. But, wow, they have signed on to really bad movies for Netflix.
I think Alba's at her best in romantic comedies. Action films, not so much. But I think it's not entirely her fault - the projects she's signed onto in the past few years have had poor writing, production value, and directing.
Alba's not that old, so she can still do romantic comedies. I really wish she would go back to that. Ok, I understand if she wants to expand her range. But then she really needs better projects to sink her teeth and talent into.
As for "Trigger Warning", it's entirely forgettable and I could hardly make it through the entire runtime. I'm all for strong female characters when the writing is good - think "Blue Eye Samurai". Sadly, we didn't get one here.

This is not good! It's actually pretty boring; I stopped watching right after she escaped from jail. I always laugh when there's a scene of a so called tough female as petite as Jessica and she's being punched in the face by a man that looks like he's almost 200 lbs. Then after a few hard blows, we see a couple of minor bruises on her face and she's still conscious and able to utter a few words. He even gave her a few solid body shots and she handled them like a boss. But it's just a movie right. The script is bad; the story is all over the place. Jessica looks as lovely as ever, but she shouldn't have been cast for this role; she doesn't fit the part.

Nothing about this movie is good. The writing is so predictable, the story line is unoriginal, the actions sequences are so poorly done. But the acting is the worst part. Even the camera work and set design are sub par. Don't waste your time. It starts bad with a chase scene that is so fake and gets progressively worse. Jessica Alba has a slack face stunned expression for most of the fiim. The fight scene are so jerky and obviously choreographed. The CGI is so bad it looks from the early 2000s. The only way I can think to explain it is everything looks so fake and I had a hard time finishing it.

I wouldn't say that is movie is complete garbage but there are some flaws that made some of scenes such as some of fight scenes, although I give Ms. Alba credit, performed like a dance scene than a fight scene. Even though they used Keanu Reeves production team the action scenes needs a touch of clean up. The support cast were solid but the guys playing the military sucked. As a former Marine I would have had no issue tearing down that place with the lack of awareness. A solid 6. With a better script who knows what Ms. Alba can do. J-Lo can't always be the bad ass Latina lead in Hollywood.
Good to see her back.

About 15 minutes of action in a nearly two hour movie. Mainly bad knife fighting that is like Walmart John Wick. You can see why this sat on a shelf for three years. Alba at 5 foot nothing and 100 and nothing pounds is a joke as an action star. At least Charlize Theron at 5' 11" 160 lbs. Has some size and believability in action roles.
Nothing happens the entire first 90 minutes. Three lame two minute action scenes are about it. The villains are comical, white supremacist posse comatatus types, totally cookie cutter.
Netflix us scraping the bottom of the barrel the last few years with J-Lo junk and this nonsense. Not even a 12 pack of Modelo can save this atrocious mess.

Don't listen to the negative reviews on this site and I cannot understand what they really expected.
In my opinion Trigger Warning is a solid thriller with non stop high value of entertainment. The cinematography was nice and the music perfectly adapted to the suspense moments.
Jessica Alba did a good job here as the other actors. The landscapes were great and the camera as well as the director's work were top.
It begins and ends with action. The story is packed all in an explosive countdown movie. It was never boring because this is the type of Netflix film that delivers what you are looking for. 6/10.

I had such high hopes for this film, but it just failed to deliver.
It started with poor CGI (like 1990's CGI), and continued in the same vein, adding awkwardly spaced dialogue and a questionable plot into the bargain.
On the whole, the characters are believable, and the acting is pretty good, from fairly seasoned actors, but there's nothing credible in any of the military elements (she's supposed to be an SF operative of some sort, but her weapons handling is not up to spec - just the way she moves and holds an assault rifle is a little questionable), and the scene continuity is choppy at best. So ultimately nothing in the plot or production to save this film.
Shame.

The movie is a typical action film.
Let me start with answering the question then - how do I see action films?
In my opinion they're "fairy tales for adults," where the main character has almost supernatural strength. Character pilots a helicopter, does the splits between two trucks, lands on an asteroid and saves Earth from an explosion. Character single-handedly takes down an entire army while somehow keeping a perfect hairstyle and a sexy sheen of sweat on their forehead.
Trigger Warning is exactly that - except this time, the main character is a woman. And that's where the problem arises. The comments are "What kind of equality is this?" "There's no way a woman could do that." "A featherweight against a massive guy? Yeah, right."
Let's start with the fact that male action heroes also have superhuman strength and skills that let them defeat every enemy. It's just as absurd when a man lands on an asteroid etc.
I'm surprised people are looking for realism in a "fairy tale for adults." The genre itself is unrealistic and highly exaggerated.

Ok, so I guess Alba wanted to portray a solo action hero. How she ever became an actress is beyond me, because in this movie she's terrible. Incredibly slow and boring movie with the plot very obvious early on. We see some familiar faces in this movie who atleast do know how to act, but it doesn't save the movie. She was always pretty white washed in other films and seems to try and make up for that in this movie. She's just not an actress I'd pick to go into kill bill move. It doesn't fit her, at all. Her beauty got her far in her career, but it doesn't work in this movie. I much rather see her in a group, not as a solo main role actress, she's just not good enough for that.
