**First off, disregard the few very low scores and comments. I read them all and they were basically all trolling comments and ratings **
That said, the show wasn't perfect in the first few scenes but it really pulled itself together and shaped up really well to end (2 seasons so far) with a strong ending and interesting cliffhangers! The 1st episode of season 1 was so so but every subsequent episode just got better and better! A very interesting story that comes from true history and needs more attention (especially now, when all the whitewashed chapters of our history are finally being told and told truthfully) & a really sharp martial arts action series. Unlike Into The Badlands which I couldn't get into because the choreography (although stunning) was unbelievable and the storyline was uninteresting, Warrior has way better writing and action that is more realistic (of course some is over the top but that's lthe point when it focuses on Ah-Sahms fights. He personifies Bruce Lee's larger than like persona) in many cases.
I'm really glad I found this series. I binged it all in 2 days. I'm eagerly awaiting and hoping that although Cinemax is no longer renewing its shows that HBO max which absorbed the properties renews this one as was promised and as many many fans are awaiting. I can't see why they wouldn't.
Can't recommend Warrior enough to martial arts & historical piece (the sets and costumes are excellent and fit the late 1800's perfectly!) lovers! 9/10!

A show that's not the same reality garbage that every channel now seems to have. The story is great and they haven't even really finished with it yet. The action is fun and realistic (most of the time) and the acting is better then you would think. I really like to this show

Back in the day where Chinese immigrants arrived in San Francisco , U.S.A, a lone wolf came with serious fighting skills.
So far, I like what I see. I'm going to watch it with enthusiasm. Check it out.

Warrior is one of the best and most underrated shows of the last decade. It's hard for me to even describe how much I love this show. Everything from the acting to the writing to the production is fantastic! All you have to do is read through the reviews to see how loved this show really is. A lot of fans were worried when Cinemax announced they won't be making shows anymore but fortunately for us fans HBO Max picked it and season three is right around the corner. It was so deserving of another season, hopefully with HBO Max's platform and the great word of mouth that the fan base will continue to grow. I can't wait to see more of this incredible show!

Warrior is a flat out awesome show that really does deserves a lot more attention than it's been getting as it's one of the better shows on right now! For some reason Cinemax hasn't done a very good job promoting this series (or any of their series really) but people are finally starting to figure out how good this show really is through word of mouth! It's just an awesome, action packed thriller with a great story, great acting and even better fight scenes! Give it a chance, I promise you won't be disappointed!

One of the best shows I've ever seen. The story, the setting, the history, the characters, the cinematography, the ACTION...just...WOW! Everything is amazing, and it just gets better and better as the series moves along. The buildup is something else, and the second to last episode of season 2 needs to be seen to be believed! They BETTER not cancel this, and give us a third season! The story is still unresolved. In any case, go watch this right now if you haven't already!

This series is really promising. It has all the ingredients to be as good as Banshee or Peaky Blinders. The mixture of both worlds made this series born. Hopefully it will become a masterpiece.

The most underrated series out there that I got to know while looking at and reading some list of renewed shows! Can you imagine that?!
A blend of awesome 19th century SF screenplay & storylines, ultra-superb acting with deep intensity, amazing development, meticulous attention to details and a completely enthralling score makes this series like the GoT of the 19th century, with one exception and that is all its episodes are stellar. 20 shiny episodes for the pleasure of our eyes and music to our ears.
Every time I see Mai Ling, I'm mesmerized by the beauty, soft voice and ultra-charismatic aura of this woman. She's the show's female character so dear to my heart. Dianne Doan is hugely talented and the character of Mai ling fits her like a glove.
Warrior doesn't shy away from nothing, shows everything with deep pictures and caressing brutality and from those comes its force, shaking us like "des fétus de paille". We are nothing but straws going left and right by Warrior's gusts of wind.
That's how awesome this show is and I'm sure that its success will grow larger and larger until all relevant humans on earth are aware of it. I'm enthusiastic about it and believe in it.
If you are to bow to this show, "Bow Low"...

- (+) Amazing screenplay, storylines and plots, the size of ten skyscrapers and the shininess of diamonds.
- (+) Superb acting by who? Everybody!, especially shiny are Ah Sahm, Li Yong, Ah Toy, Mai Ling, Wang Chao, Young Jun, Bill O'Hara, Dylan Leary, Penelope Blake, Walter Buckley among others. Please know, I wanted to line-up the whole cast, so you get the real picture; that's how good, worthy and stellar they are.
- (+) Award-winning development in all episodes, very few seen and encountered at such a high level.
- (+) Enthralling, 3D, multi-faceted score, well fitted with every scene, accompanying fights and emotions alike.

It's a wild ride, no doubt about it. Right off the bat, one needs to set aside historical accuracy and just enjoy the plentiful ass-kicking and the epic journey that our man Ah Sahm embarks upon. But while truthfulness may not be at the forefront of this series, there are still enough true historical elements to make it all the more interesting.
The different angles from which the events are observed make for an intriguing odyssey that doesn't always offer a clear side to root for. After all, these are people fighting to either gain supremacy among criminal organizations, or abuse their way to the political top. But even if the motives that drive the narrative are oftentime morally questionable, the show nonetheless succeed at its most important task: to entertain. Thanks in no small part to the beautifully coreographed and occasionally ferocious fight scenes.

This show is absolutely epic! I've been waiting for years for a realistic martial arts series that had some historical backdrop. The acting is superb and the fight sequences are top notch. I would highly recommend anyone interested in a period martial arts series

Some of the acting feels a little shaky in initial episodes, but once it gets rolling the show is engaging. There are likeable characters, people to root for. The racial dynamics are pretty much what was going on in San Francisco in the 1800s, so there was no need to exaggerate.
The writers do a good job of showing the full spectrum of human behavior; not all of the white guys are evil, not all of the Asians are good.
Hoon Lee, the guy who plays Wang Chao, stands out as a great actor. Something magnetic about that dude.

UPDATE:
Lost interest. Too many contrived subplots, modern culture war themes.
ORIGINAL REVIEW:
Warrior is a martial arts/ action story featuring the Chinese experience in 19th century San Francisco/ China Town.
I was hooked on 'Warrior' immediately. It has action, an interesting historical setting, and features Asian culture, actors, and perspectives- something I, at least, have not run into on television very often.
I was also happy to see Olivia Cheng from 'Marco Polo'', Dianne Doan from 'Vikings', and Hoon Lee from 'Banshee' cast in major roles because I have enjoyed their work in the past.

No spoilers here!
I think this is even better than The game of thrones. And I did love the game of thrones. And Warrior is of course way different serie. But same way in both series I love the characters and anything can happen in the serie. Lot of surprises!
Great adventure!
There is a great writing on characters. There is drama humor thriller and great action scenes and great acting by each character.
It's just sad that the marketing an hype hasn't lifted up the serie to people's attention.
Everyone who has watched this have loved it and hoped for serie to continue.
I really think that someone should and hope that someone will take this to season four.
It's a great piece of art and a wonderful story.

Three minutes into this show and I was ALL IN! It has everything I want in a show.
I felt like Cinemax should've knocked on my door and said, "YO CHECK THIS OUT"!
I see many negative reviews on here. I'm guessing those to be written by people that like musicals or boring artsy films. If you like crime and action movies? Then you'll say F@#$ YEAH! If you don't? Go watch La La Land, The Artist, or Eat Pray Love. You know films that should make a man contemplate committing seppuku rather than sit through.

If you're looking for an exhilarating TV series, "Warrior" is an absolute gem. From start to finish, I was utterly captivated by this show. The storyline is masterfully crafted, keeping you hooked like glue with its compelling narrative. Set in the gritty backdrop of 19th century San Francisco, the series delves into the brutal world of the Chinese immigrant community and the power struggles that ensue.
What truly sets "Warrior" apart are the phenomenal actors and their performances. Each character is brought to life with such depth and authenticity, making you emotionally invested in their journeys. The fight scenes are a standout feature, choreographed with stunning realism and intensity. You can feel every punch and kick, adding to the raw energy of the show.
I can't recommend "Warrior" enough. Whether you're a fan of gripping dramas, martial arts, or historical fiction, this series offers a perfect blend of everything. It's a hidden gem that deserves to be discovered and appreciated. Trust me, you'll be on the edge of your seat throughout the entire series. So, buckle up and get ready for an exhilarating ride with "Warrior"!

Couldn't find anyting to watch, so i thought hmm, I mean, i like material arts movies and Jackie Chan/Bruce Lee and gave it a go. And man I was blowned away, so fricking good, action and fight scenes in the approximately 1870s, I totally love it! Highest score! 🇺🇲

Not quite sure why a few have given it bad reviews I thought it was brilliant good storyline with a good backdrop its merged modern film but still has the perfect slice of old school martial arts film. Acting is great people giving it bad reviews must of never seen a decent old school martial arts film I personally think this style of filming old school/new school mix is the key to keeping the original martial arts style films alive. If you are a youngster giving it bad reviews on the martial arts acting style then you are wrong go back and watch a classic then come back and review. This is the perfect blend and the future of classic martial arts films cant wait for more episodes

I just finished the second episode and I am hooked. The characters are all very interesting. The main character is quite likable and all the role players are strong. The production value is great. The action is exciting. There isn't anything about this show that annoys me. It's very stylistic and pushes the story forward with a good brisk pace. The women on this show are HOT and it kinda makes me wish I lived in this world. PS - I've never been a big fan of martial arts stories but this show makes me want to watch a lot more of them.

In this day and age of rubbish reality shows. Warrior is so refreshing! The storyline is unique, the cast is sensational and the fight scenes are second to none!
I could be more critical because they have added stuff that isn't necessary but overall it's a great show and very enjoyable.
More people should watch!

Solid 7. I'd love to see what this series would have been if they had a blank check after season 2.
I find that this series has a lot of push and pull. It's fair to call it inconsistent, mostly where writing is concerned. It can surprise you with some genuinely great moments, but also disappoint you. Nothing ever falls off a cliff, however. It gives the impression that characters have multi-episode long (sometimes season-long) lapses of all common sense and judgment. There's a decent amount of "and then this happened" -itis. To put it another way, sometimes it seems that character motivations are arbitrary, inorganic, only existing to advance the plot.
It's also clear that the push and pull is present in the setting and tone of the show. It finds itself not-quite historical, but not-quite fantastical. We tend not to get the best of either world, nor the worst. It sets up an easy to swallow, nuance-free backdrop where we can watch some itchy onions fight to the death. In excellently coreographed fashion. Nothing in this show serves as a lens to the real world, although there is some minor historical value, but the truth to history and culture is dubious at best, as other commenters will point out.
If great fights are all you need, this has excellent ones -- all of the quality acting, nice set pieces, and genuinely shiny spots of competent writing are just icing on the cake.

Almost jammed everything and anything that could be found and put all the ingredients into a very ridiculous melting pot, showing how the Chinese immigrants lived and suffered before they were evicted by the discrimination law to ban the Chinese entering America and to purge those who already lived on American soil for long time.
The epic center was San Francisco, its China Town. The cruelty of the Whites, the struggling Chinese labors, the dirty White politicians and the police, the Irish thugs, the discrimination against women and their rights...The Tongs, Jesus, so overly exaggerated and dramatized. Weird costumes wearing by the Chinese. All the Chinese with better education background speaking fluent American English. The killings, murders, fighting scenes are over-the-top dramatized but also extremely cool and bloody.
Not a bad series, but worry about running off the mill in the later seasons and losing control, then suddenly stop the production like lot of other drama series when spinning off the track.
This series is not for female viewers but for the blood thirst video gamers who already got used to the bloody killings in their beloved and engrossed video games.

Fight scenes are nice, but most of them are shot in the dark, so you are not able to see anything.
The idea of the series is good, but the way it was implemented is very bad. I do not know people think that a lot of profanity and nude scenes make a series better and more realistic. Also dialogues are really bad.
The producers tried to show how different cultures behave, but failed. The Chinese characters are more like Italian gangsters than Chinese.
In summary - The series were promising, but failed to deliver.
