Not sure why it's taken so long to get a show on the air that includes BDSM. I guess the popularity of Fifty Shades of Grey really proved that there is an audience for this topic. Submission is a decent show, it certainly keeps me coming back for more. I'm craving to see more of the Dominant/submissive dynamic and the show seems to be going in that direction. The first episode was slow, but the show gets increasingly better as the series goes on.
I like the fact that there's a solid story-line for this late night show. Too bad there's nothing out there on dominant women... I would find that infinitely more interesting.

I love the movie. it seems that the reason behind the plot is that she wanted to create a better version compared to 50 shades of Grey. The series co-creator, Jacky St. James, mentioned that she was unhappy with the way BDSM was portrayed in Fifty Shades of Grey, which she considers "passed off an abusive relationship as an honest interpretation of the BDSM lifestyle". She hoped to create a more nuanced view of the BDSM world with the series. The lead actress Ashlynn Yennie also echoed the creator's sentiment saying, "Fifty Shades of Grey was not a correct portrayal of the type of sex that people practice. It made it seem like it was for people that were messed up or dark and it's not at all." She hoped that the show "can shatter that glass ceiling of false belief and show the world what it truly means to trust, communicate, and finally feel free to talk about what you want and don't want sexually in a consensual and healthy way." Well she got it. I agree it is better then 50 shades of Grey. wished there were more episodes though.
Finally, someone actually writes a sexually exciting night-time series! I have never been able to watch soft core porn - because the sex is essentially removed while all the fun of the inner human psyche is gone. But not this time! I only want to know, what do I need to do not to see this one get canceled?! Is there a place where I can give stars to this series that will make this one stay? What really is amazing about this series is that it shows, very honestly, that BDSM, poly, experimental, or vanilla, people are just people, and are subject to all the same issues - the need to be seen, to be understood, to be loved, and to deal with our own inner drama and insecurities. It actually shows that sex and sexuality is something to be explored and embraced, not shunned away. Men and women equally are sexual creatures, all on a journey. I just love how amazingly sexy this series is without giving up on human interaction and the gunk of the human drama. I don't know how it does it, but the balance is achieved. I can't wait until the finale! When is it coming back?!
So... How is 'Submission' better than the Fifty Shades series? The series co-creator, Jacky St. James said that It (Fifty Shades of Grey) made it seem like it (BDSM) was for people that were messed up or dark and it's not at all. In my opinion, Elliott is more cunning and messed up than Grey. 'Submission' gives the impression that this kind of sexual practice is not for people with a dark past but for tricksters and womanizers. Additionally and more importantly, it nuances that hierarchical relationship in the bedroom is extended to the whole relationship. The dominant, Elliott, is violent, coercive and selfish in daily life as well, and in many cases this is not true. Main characters' acting is sub-par and even annoying. It's funny that regular or day-to-day scenes are worse than sex scenes.
Yes it is. Severe nudity and sex, nothing but just nudity and sex scenes. This is a "big porn series" with a storyline for sure. It teaches you how to "dominate" and how to give a sexual pleasure to women. Torture, threesome, dominant, anything you see in a porn clip will be in this tv series too. The show somehow indicates than women enjoy sex and they want to be dominated, but in fact they don't. Most women don't like those sex in this show and they certainly do not like to be treated like a sex toy. Watch the finale episode to see a dramatic turn. The ending indicates that there should be a season 2 but no it's just one season TV mini series.
