“True Detective” might have found its next lead detective in Nicolas Cage.
Cage is in talks to lead the anthology series’ fifth season, according to media reports. Should Cage’s casting be confirmed, he would star as New York detective Henry Logan, who investigates the mystery at the center of Season 5. HBO declined to comment on this story.
After Season 4 focused on a cold case in the fictional town of Ennis, Alaska, Season 5 will turn its attention to Jamaica Bay in New York for a new mystery written by Season 4 showrunner Issa López, though the two seasons take place in the same universe, per López.

"Ready when you are..." Voltage Pictures has unveiled an official trailer for an action comedy movie called Under Fire, arriving to watch this summer. Not to be confused with the 1983 war movie also titled Under Fire. This is the next new movie from action genre director Steven C. Miller, who has been churning out lots of movies recently: Marauders, Arsenal, First Kill, Line of Duty, Margaux, and Werewolves just last year. Under Fire unfolds in the scorching heat of the Mexico border, where rival drug dealers Griff & Abbott arrive at a remote drop point for a routine drug deal. When the exchange goes down, both reveal undercover badges — Griff is FBI, Abbott is DEA — and neither knew they were working the same case. Before they can react, a sniper rains down bullets, killing the cartel members and leaving the two agents pinned behind their vehicle. Now, Griff & Abbott must set...

Zombie Army VR marks Rebellion’s first serious venture into virtual reality, adapting their cult zombie-shooting franchise for headset-wearing audiences. This VR iteration, co-developed with Xtended Realities, takes the established formula from the Zombie Army series—itself a supernatural spin-off of the tactical Sniper Elite games—and transplants it into an immersive first-person experience across all major VR platforms including PSVR2, Meta Quest 3, and PC VR headsets.
The premise remains deliciously absurd: in an alternate post-wwii timeline, Zombie Hitler’s death has unleashed hordes of undead Nazi soldiers across Europe. Players step into the boots of a Deadhunter, an elite zombie-killing operative working under the command of Hermann Wolff to clean up the supernatural mess while searching for his missing family. The action unfolds primarily in the bombed-out ruins of Nuremberg and other war-torn European locations, creating an atmospheric backdrop for what amounts to an arcade-style shooting gallery.

For many Apex Legends players, the early stages of a match can be very frustrating: they have to search for the right weapon, loot multiple buildings, and hope to find a strong gun to start off with. It’s a big gamble that often leads to unnecessary losses, especially when luck isn’t on the players’ side.
The upcoming season is bringing lots of exciting changes. | Image credit: Respawn Entertainment
However, it looks like Respawn aims to remove this Rng by introducing a new system, Arsenal, in Season 24. This system will give players more control over their loadouts and improve the looting experience. Alongside this, a complete weapon rework promises faster-paced combat and better balance across the board.

Most characters in anime follow some basic rules about balance and power scaling to make each combat scene tense, exciting, and meaningful. Protagonists will often start off weak but grow stronger through training and experience. Conversely, villains tend to start off powerful, though not so much that the hero stands no chance. Then, there are overpowered anime characters who break down all pre-established rules and norms through the sheer strength of their fists.
Some anime series feature a hero or a villain who is totally overpowered, meaning they are vastly stronger than everyone else and are nigh-unbeatable. A character who can't lose often creates completely unfair battles, but if they're written correctly, even the most Op anime characters can be highly compelling and entertaining to watch. Their unmatched abilities might also move the plot forward in ways no other character could ever do, or lead to hilarious situations no one could have seen coming.

This feature contains spoilers for Gege Akutami's manga Jujutsu Kaisen, now available in its entirety from Viz Media.
Yuji Itadori is the protagonist of the ever-popular Jujutsu Kaisen, written by Gege Akutami. A young, brash, and slightly naïve boy is tossed into the horrific world of Jujutsu sorcery after ingesting the finger of Sukuna. The story would show that even though Yuji was naïve, he still had an intense strength and talent for jujutsu sorcery that Gojo states could rival Yuta Okkotsu or even himself one day.
With the manga ending, its final chapter "From Now On," was released on September 29th, 2024; Yuji is one of the strongest sorcerers remaining. While many fans would argue that Yuji never had the spotlight as a protagonist, there's no argument to be had that his list of techniques makes him a protagonist worth falling in love with. Jujutsu Kaisen is one of the most well-known anime of the 2020s, and it's a refreshing throwback to classic battle shōnen. Fans are drawn to its richly detailed universe, well-written characters and dynamic action choreography. Jujutsu Kaisen's manga concluded on September 30th, 2024 after 271 chapters and 2 seasons, and its popularity is only amplifying. Fans are still discussing this ingenious series and its characters, such as Suguru Geto who remains a fan-favorite.
Geto is one of Jujutsu Kaisen's most controversial characters. Despite the immoral acts he committed, many fans sympathize with him, and regard him as a tragically beautiful character who was a victim of his circumstances. However, the circumstances that caused Geto to defect are still being debated by fans, with many wondering if his downward spiral was all but inevitable. On the subject of Geto's defection, there is no-one more important than Toji Fushiguro.

There's nothing like geeking out over heavy metal music together to break the ice before shooting a film. In a recent interview with MovieWeb for his action-horror film Werewolves, director Steven C. Miller recalled his 2017 collaboration with Nicolas Cage in the action film Arsenal and how, much to his surprise, he and Cage found common ground in metal. “I don't know that many people would know that Nicolas Cage is a huge metal head,” Miller told MovieWeb in a recent interview.
“I think in our first conversations, we were just talking about metal bands for like an hour. I don't know that we talked about the movie that we were going to do. He’d flown me in to meet with him, to sort of see if I was the guy for the job.” Miller went on to say:
“We talked about music for the first hour before we even got to the movie.

The Barbarian class already had a version of their mechanic which allowed them to wield more weapons. However, the Arsenal System has received a major update recently and the stats and effects of the system have changed.
The Barbarian Class in Diablo 4 has generally not been well-received in Season 6, due to some significant nerfs and other overpowered classes performing better. However, with the re-vamped Arsenal mechanic, players can at least tailor the Barbarian class to their playstyle even more than before. To complete one of the Doctor Doom quests in Fortnite, players must track down Rare Chests on the Fortnite island. Unlike ordinary Loot Chests, Rare Chests are blue and drop higher-quality loot when opened, making them highly sought after. However, as their name suggests, they are also uncommon and hard to find.
Rare Chest spawns are random; however, based on my experience, a good rule of thumb is the bigger the location, the more likely they are to appear. Named Locations, including some of Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4's best landing spots, are the best bet for finding Rare Chests. However, there are also a few other ways to find Rare Chests that players can try in order to improve their chances.

The 1990s were a fantastic time for Nicolas Cage and a decade that featured some of his greatest film roles. After building up his reputation throughout the 1980s, this was the era that Cage really broke into the mainstream to become a household name and one of the biggest movie stars Hollywood had ever seen. Not only did this period feature his Oscar-winning performance in Leaving Las Vegas, but Cage also proved his skills as a major action hero in a number of now-iconic movies, including Con Air and Face/Off.
Many of the best Nicolas Cage movies were released during the 1990s, as he proved himself a sternly committed actor willing to take serious risks. While there were some truly disappointing releases during this decade, the fact that Cage was willing to fail and come back swinging proved him an actor of great determination and ability. Nicolas Cage has had one of the most varied careers in Hollywood, but its in the action movie genre that hes had some of his most acclaimed and memorable roles. With three iconic releases in 1996 alone, including The Rock, Con Air, and Face/Off, Cage has made a name for himself as a non-stop worker who's always willing to embrace even the most outlandish of movie premises. From blockbuster smashes to later lesser-known straight-to-video releases, Cage has become a touchstone in modern popular culture and has achieved cult status among action movie lovers.
While some of Cages best movies were undisputed action classics, there were also some heartbreakingly low points in his long and bloated filmography. Whether hes portraying a vengeful father, a man who has escaped from hell, or even a future-seeing action hero, Cage has consistently remained totally committed to his roles and brought his unique style and eccentricities to Hollywoods film landscape.

Although it may seem like straight-to-video movies signaled a low point in the career of Nicolas Cage, upon closer inspection they included some of the actor's best roles in recent years. While Cage began his career in the 1980s and by the 1990s became an Oscar-winning actor and one of the biggest action stars in the world, in the years since, hes also taken up many lower-budget, lesser-known, straight-to-video movies. However, this shift toward more lowkey productions did not come at the expense of good performances, as Cage continued to give his all to every role he played.
Every Nicolas Cage movie has something unique to offer, as hes a performer who never phones it in and always tries to find a unique way to portray his characters. Although some of his direct-to-video action movies were full of genre tropes and cliches, they were usually still fun-filled spectacles that kept viewers enthralled throughout.

In Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4, players can obtain three different Medallions, all of which have unique gameplay effects. Unlike the other weapons and utility items players can find on the Fortnite island, Medallions are unique. Only one of each drops per match and each grants the holder powerful passive abilities. However, holding a Medallion can also prove risky.

In the 26th episode of Deadline Strike Talk — which for below the liners signifies half a year without a paycheck that hasn’t come from Uber fares or waiting tables — host Billy Ray hits on a zeitgeist theme that gets voiced a lot by people who just feel that the business isn’t as remotely as exciting or near as much fun as it was before the folly that signatories put themselves into by chasing Netflix as it became the preeminent streamer. The result has put just about every other streamer pursuit in a position of being money losers that have strained the economics, and accelerated the demise of those conglomerates’ traditional networks, and so many other things.
Ray begins by addressing the fear that informs so many moves in Hollywood, and is anathema to great creative work. Joining him are two Hollywood veterans, John Ptak and Marc Evans. While they flourished in different areas,...

There’s a lot to watch on Prime Video in October and, as you may have guessed, there’s spooky stuff galore in amongst Prime’s usual rotation of extensive library content.
In the movie Totally Killer, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina star Kiernan Shipka travels back in time to the 1980s to stop a serial killer. Then there’s Make Me Scream, a Halloween special that challenges celebrities to “a gruesome game of terror.” Renfield will also be streaming on the service for anyone who’s been dying (muahahaha!) to catch the Nic Cage Dracula film.
Outside of Prime Video’s more creepy fare, Shazam! Fury Of The Gods will debut, Upload will be back for a third season, and new film Awareness should scratch your sci-fi itch. Meanwhile, for Frasier heads – those who consider themselves utterly Frasier-pilled – all eleven seasons of the Cheers spinoff show will be streaming at the touch of a button.

One of the oddest villains in the entire DC Universe is the backward-natured Bizarro. Bizarro is an imperfect clone of Superman and though he’s as powerful as the Man of Steel, almost everything about the character is wrong. Instead of heat vision or freeze breath, Bizarro has freeze vision and flame breath. Bizarro also speaks in a broken, contradictory language.

Picking out the best Nicolas Cage movie can be fairly challenging, given the fact that the Hollywood star has starred in a diverse array of films of varying merit. Nothing short of a cultural tour-de-force, Nicolas Cage has managed to acquire a dedicated cult following over the years, whilst winning various accolades including an Academy Award, Screen Actors Guild Award, and Golden Globe. However, when it comes to Cage, a string of offbeat roles granted him a bad movie streak. Seminal among these is Deadfall, Left Behind, and Pay The Ghost, among which the first two can be deemed as downright unwatchable.
Having said that, it is important to acknowledge that Cage is no stranger to portraying strong, complex characters, as evidenced in his revenge-fueled, yet pathos-inducing rendition of Red in Panos Cosmatos’ heavy metal valentine, Mandy. Underwhelming performances aside, there is a plethora of Cage films that deserve praise and consideration,...

Super indie Fremantle has unveiled plans to further expand into the documentary space with the launch of a new label, Undeniable, focused on the production of premium feature documentaries and series.
Mandy Chang, Fremantle’s Global Head of Documentaries, announced the move at documentary festival Cph:dox in Copenhagen on Tuesday. The new label will sit within Fremantle’s Documentaries division and appears designed to distinguish high-end feature docs and series produced in the group from Fremantle’s more conventional reality TV and non-scripted fare.
“The launch of Undeniable further underlines our commitment and ambition to build Fremantle’s documentary output on the premium side,” said Chang. “Working with the very best filmmakers and emerging talent, the label will provide editorial and production expertise and support in multiple genres. Importantly, it will provide a platform and freedom for creative talent to unlock and explore important issues and stories to be told.

At its best, horror seeks to move us, entertain us, scare our pants off and elicit similar kinds of thrills as roller coasters do. But for those that aim a little higher — no, not in an "elevated horror" sort of way (whatever that means), but simply in terms of ambition — there's also an added responsibility to sneak in some clever observations about our world that we've generally taken for granted, done in ways that other genres simply aren't capable of accomplishing. In other words, with copious amounts of blood, guts, and gnarly kills.
When a particular movie or show manages to hit all those pleasure centers in our impressionable brains, it elicits the kind of cathartic responses found in something like Jordan Peele's deeply provocative "Nope." When an otherwise promising piece of horror media stumbles in that pursuit, well, let's just say that things can go sideways pretty quickly.

"I have quite the weekend in store for you…" Paramount Movies has unveiled an official trailer for a freaky horror thriller Margaux, the latest bland creation from B-movie action director Steven C. Miller. Yet another new "Artificial Intelligent turns against people" uninspired thriller, especially one that's about a smart home that turns deadly (why this again?). A group of college friends rent a smart house for a weekend of partying. Later, they start to realize that "Margaux", the house's super advanced AI system, has sinister designs for them. The cast features Madison Pettis, Vanessa Morgan, Richard Harmon, Lochlyn Munro, Jedidiah Goodacre, Phoebe Miu, Jordan Buhat, Brittany Mitchell, and Louis Lay. This is another of these "how does this junk keep getting made" kind of movies. It looks so cheesy and forgettable. ›››

The rumor that Amazon is rebranding its free streaming service IMDBtv has been making the rounds for the past six months but the move was given its first public airing with Amazon Studios chief Jen Salke revealing that the service would be renamed “soon.”
The service, which airs series including Alex Rider, Leverage: Redemption and Judy Justice, was originally launched in 2019 as IMDb Freedive before being rebranded as IMDb TV a few months later.
It’s now set for a third name as it was thought, with its six syllables, to be too cumbersome for customers to pronounce. Deadline understands that it’s in the final stages of choosing a name and is down to two possibilities.
Salke revealed the news during a keynote session at the virtual Realscreen, where she was talking up the company’s non-scripted ambitions.

Nicolas Cage has appeared in dozens of movies of varying critical reception over the years, but his latest movie Pig has risen above the rest as his highest-rated live-action movie on Rotten Tomatoes. With a 97% Certified Fresh score, Pig has topped Red Rock West at 95%, Moonstruck at 94%, and Face/Off at 92%. The 97% score is tied with the animated movie Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which featured Cage as the voice of Spider-Man Noir.
This is certainly great news for Nicolas Cage, who has developed a bit of a reputation for accepting all roles thrown his way, for better or for worse. He has previously starred in universally panned movies with 0% rotten scores on Rotten Tomatoes, like Deadfall and Grand Isle. Titles like The Wicker Man, Bangkok Dangerous, and Arsenal didn't fare much better. Perhaps this just goes to show that Cage is indeed a fantastic actor, he just needs the right material to work with.

A double bill of films by Aleksandr Dovzhenko are showing April and May, 2020 on Mubi in most countries.Above: EarthIt’s disconcerting that the collected writings in English of one of the world’s greatest filmmakers currently sells for $852 on Amazon—or a whopping $980, if you opt for the paperback—while the only American book about him downgrades his work’s artistic value in its very title (Vance Kepley’s 1985 In the Service of the State: The Cinema of Alexander Dovzhenko). Look him up on Wikipedia, and you find that his name is shared by a poker player and a psychiatrist—hardly fit company for the epic, poetic Alexander Dovzhenko (1894-1956), a pagan mystic whose masterful films look as wildly experimental, as dreamlike, as hysterically funny, as fiercely tragic, and as beautiful today as they did a century ago.A Cold War casualty, often defined in the West as a...

To say that a lot has transpired during Arrow‘s seventh season is quite the understatement. After kicking things off with Oliver Queen in prison, Star City was graced with a new Emerald Archer whom we assumed to be a hero. But as it turned out, the vigilante was actually Emiko, Ollie’s estranged sister, and leader of the terrorist organization known as the Ninth Circle. And since the true Green Arrow was released from the clink, he’s had to accept the fact that his own flesh and blood is the new big bad in town.
Given all that, I’m expecting for next week’s season finale to be both action-packed and emotionally draining. Fortunately, the network has thoroughly whetted our appetites with no less than eighteen images taken from the climactic episode, each of which can be found in the gallery below.
