Picked this up in the supermarket regrettably. A slow-burning suspense thriller you'd say but disappointing. The opening ten minutes or so looked promising and after that lacklustre. Too much screen time for the lead plain Jane, overly pushed accents got in the way, voiceover from the head somewhat off-putting.
You get up to the first sherif scene and it's silly. Bar scene after laughable. Poor editing throughout, aimed for eerie and mysterious yet didn't come off and so cinematically not good. Just too much wrong with the execution from the actors and the director.
Also, is the lead meant to be with the other younger woman or what because that wasn't very interesting either. Queue more annoying characters, some flashbacks, just a no from me.

One of those movies where the time-line gets altered and they try to fool you. Then everybody is shocked by the ending cause they lied to you throughout the film. Besides that, it's a good film. One girl goes missing and when a 2nd one goes missing things get interesting. Small town politics and very inappropriate behavior is the basic theme. 5.6 out of 10.
I generally watch only movies which have a rating of 6.0 and above so I thought I'd give this movie a go.
It certainly has its twists and turns in the movie which I enjoyed especially if you are trying to work out how the movie will play out. Its hard to predict at times. Not A listed stars acting in the film, but felt they played a good role. Looking for a missing child is the main aspect but there is more to the story which is revealed during the movie. Its on amazon prime under the name of "disappearance at lake elrod."
If you like twists and turns in movies, this movie is definitely for you. It's nothing special hence my rating is only 6, but worth a watch.

Stop becoming confused by this gerontopsychological thriller, abouta disappearance, and then another one in a small community deep in the southern heartlands, with hardwood meadows and hills that makes everything look so dusk and dark even in daylight.
The next confusement is what youre meant to believe as flashbacks, that must be a hillbillie moment for every dementiadamned movieviewer, and the lack of timeline really make you feel loosing track on time.
The most confusive moment for a grumpy old man was the shapeshifting and all pivoting moment of the plot, no further elaboration to that.
Its a complex movie, its filled with a lot of ''you never know for sure'' moments, it has intensity, but lack the deepness of true life and real life human behavioral demeanors. Its like the fog of war, whos the friend and whos the foe, the choice of shapeshifting methods could be discussed, should they cast another actor or use some more advanced make up. Also the law enforcement has some dramatic and fatal glitches, usually in a omnious setting an officer would actually shoot before the weapon is drawn (ive watched to many bodycam documentaries).
Allthough confused i can tell that the filmo and editingtablecraftmanship is of high standard, and it has a happy ending...i think...or are there still some secrets/ swines hidden between the logs. Im still standing on the pivots crankshaft on recommending...

A guilty pleasur of mine, is watching those made-for-televeison moives that are aweful but for some reason you can't stop watching. These come on more often on Lifetime, which my wife will sometime binge watch and I'll pretend to be disintrested, but sometimes get hooked into one along the way. This is what this movie reminded me of. I think I only recognized 1 actress as that I didn't know much about Robin Lively before watching, the actress who played the villian's mother was on designing women a long time ago (another guilty pleasure).
It's about a woman despreate to find her duaghter who had gone missing years ago. When another daughter goes missing the mother is sure (as a gut feeling only) that there is a connection.
Sounds like a made for television movie, there aren't any big named actors in it and the writing is just ok, but theres a bit of a twist that makes this movie more interesting that I won't give away here.
I say watch it. If you don't like it, you can always turn it off.
