Location is the king in this film - Never shown angles and spots as this historical drama was filmed in wonderful New Zealand. Actor and producer Vishnu Manchu opines New Zealand is "last painting of God". Around 80% of the film was shot in New Zealand locations of Auckland, Rotorua, Glenorchy, Wanaka, Pukaki, and Christchurch.
2025 film keeps devotion to the last phase- about 30 minutes .
The last 40 minutes were breathtaking action never to miss.
The first part on its own is great depiction of a warrior in the clan and war, fight scenes are superb. Vishnu Manchu and all actors excel in their roles. The love scenes are so youthful, vibrant and captivating.
I think everyone should see to understand the uniqueness of this film and its making and scenic beauties and devotional aspect.

This movie is great-like, unbelievably great. You'll totally get it once you watch it... or maybe you won't. We already know the story, but don't worry-they've managed to throw in some "surprises" that'll leave you shocked...
The screenplay? Oh, it's full of mind-blowing stuff-so much that your brain might just shut down to protect itself. Some scenes really make you wonder what the writers were thinking-or smoking.
The locations and costumes? Out of this world! Literally, like someone hit random on a Pinterest mood board. And the actors? They fit into their roles so perfectly... like a fork in a bowl of soup.
Manchu Vishnu in the lead? Absolutely fantastic. Truly a performance for the ages. Oscars, beware.
Akshay Kumar as Lord Shiva isn't silly at all, no matter what people say. It's perfect... in some alternate universe. Kajal is cute and sexy.
Everyone else did okay-except Prabhas. Poor guy looks completely lost, and next to Manchu Vishnu (the star of the decade), he just fades into the background. Maybe they should've gone for someone more famous.
The last 40 minutes? An experience, no doubt. You'll either laugh, cry, or leave.
So yes, go watch it. Especially if you enjoy dark humor... or just want to test your emotional strength. God bless you and good luck.

Though there are many shortages..i like the concept which was neved kept before audience. .they have tried to keep it before audience. ..for dat 8 stars..
Costumes of heroine was too modern .
Prabhas role was superb...dats y he is pan star.
I enjoyed watching this movie. ..though some songs were not necessary.
Good movie.. Among all the movies I've watched in recent times, Kannappa stands out with one of the most powerful and emotionally moving climax scenes. The moment it reached the final act, I couldn't hold back my tears. The last 30 minutes are filled with such intense devotion and spiritual emotion that words simply fall short. It touched a place deep in the heart.

What a performance, boss! I walked into the theatre with zero expectations, honestly a bit worried about how the true story of Kannappa might be handled - and also unsure about Prabhas' role. But man, you absolutely nailed it! While the set pieces could've been better, your acting in the second half, especially the emotional scenes with Prabhas and Mohan Babu, were totally worth every penny. You moved us all to tears by the end. 😭
Negatives: worst set pieces, bad costumes, pathetic dialogue delivery from actors other than main leads, too much romance in 1st half which felt quite diverted from the main plot and those locations, it just felt like everything was shot in a park and fights were blurred at some shots just to cover the VFX of people fighting in the background.
Positives: BGM and songs 🔥, Scenes and dialogues between Prabhas Vishnu and Mohan babu. Last 40 mins of the movie is the main plot and it ended with an emotional high.
Overall a decent movie.

"KANNAPPA" (2025), a Telugu-language mythological devotional film directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, attempts to portray the life of Kannappa, a devoted follower of Lord Shiva.
As someone unfamiliar with the legend of Kannappa, I found the film largely unsuccessful in bringing his story to life.
At 3 hours and 3 minutes, the movie is excessively long, but my issue isn't with its runtime-it's with the sluggish pacing, unnecessary vulgarity for a devotional film, forgettable dialogue, and underdeveloped characters.
While the story centers on Kannappa, it also tries to mimic the grandeur of Baahubali, with Kannappa and Nemali resembling Prabhas and Tamannaah's characters from that epic.
Even the villain feels like a recycled version of Baahubali's Kaalikey.
The star-studded cast, including Akshay Kumar, Mohanlal, Kajal Aggarwal, Mukesh Rishi, and Prabhas, is impressive but underutilized. Most actors are sidelined or given lackluster roles.
The visual effects are also feel low quality and literally bad.
Prabhas shines in his scenes, but his entry comes only after two hours, by which point the film has already dragged. The first two hours feel bloated and could easily have been condensed into 40-50 minutes to maintain momentum.
Last 30 minutes are absolutely best but it could be way more better.
Ultimately, Kannappa fails as a family-friendly devotional or mythological film due to its inappropriate content and lackluster execution. I wouldn't recommend it for those seeking a meaningful cinematic experience.

Prabhas as Rudra: A Celestial Presence That Transcends Screen Time in Kannappa
In Kannappa, a mythological epic rooted in devotion and transformation, Prabhas makes a striking impact as Rudra, a divine embodiment of cosmic power and spiritual guidance. Though his screen time is limited to just over 17 minutes, his presence is anything but fleeting. In fact, it is Prabhas' portrayal of Rudra that injects the film with a sense of gravitas and mysticism, elevating the narrative beyond its mortal arc.
The film, directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, follows the journey of Thinnadu (played by Vishnu Manchu), a tribal youth who begins as a staunch atheist but undergoes a profound spiritual awakening. Inspired by the legend of Kannappa Nayanar, the story is steeped in themes of faith, sacrifice, and divine intervention. While Vishnu Manchu shoulders the emotional weight of the protagonist's transformation, it is Prabhas' Rudra who serves as the spiritual catalyst-an ethereal force guiding Thinnadu toward his destiny.
Prabhas appears in the second half of the film, and from the moment he enters, the tone shifts. His portrayal of Rudra is calm, composed, and deeply resonant. There is no flamboyance in his performance-only a quiet intensity that commands attention. Dressed in austere robes and framed by a celestial aura, Prabhas exudes a divine stillness that contrasts beautifully with the emotional turbulence of the mortal characters. His eyes, often the most expressive tool in his acting arsenal, convey both compassion and cosmic wisdom.
What makes Prabhas' performance particularly compelling is its restraint. In a genre that often leans toward theatricality, he chooses subtlety. His dialogues are few, but each line is delivered with a weight that lingers. When Rudra speaks to Thinnadu, it is not as a god issuing commands, but as a mentor offering clarity. This dynamic adds a philosophical layer to the film, inviting viewers to reflect on the nature of devotion and the role of divine guidance in human transformation.
The visual treatment of Rudra's scenes further amplifies Prabhas' impact. The cinematography bathes him in soft, otherworldly light, and the background score swells with reverence whenever he appears. These choices are deliberate, reinforcing the idea that Rudra is not just a character but a presence-an anchor in the storm of Thinnadu's inner conflict.
One of the most memorable moments in the film is Rudra's silent observation of Thinnadu's ultimate act of devotion. Prabhas doesn't speak in this scene, but his expression-equal parts sorrow, pride, and divine acceptance-speaks volumes. It's a masterclass in non-verbal storytelling and a testament to Prabhas' ability to convey depth without dialogue.
While Kannappa has its share of narrative flaws-particularly in the sluggish first half and uneven pacing-Prabhas' performance is a highlight that transcends these shortcomings. His Rudra is not just a cameo; it is a spiritual cornerstone that binds the film's themes together. Alongside Mohanlal's Kirata and Akshay Kumar's Lord Shiva, Prabhas completes a divine trinity that lends the film its mythological heft.
In a cinematic landscape where star power often overshadows substance, Prabhas achieves the rare feat of using his stardom to serve the story. He doesn't dominate the screen-he dignifies it. And in doing so, he reminds audiences why he remains one of Indian cinema's most revered actors.

You are given a platform to make a movie. You have a producer who will give you any amount of money, you got actors who will do exactly what you say. Then how did you failed this miserably. Dear Telugu directors and actors, Rajamouli alone cannot save your industry, you people have to up your game. Dont shove whatever you are cooking in the name of cinema to the audience. Be responsible. You are making a art. Dont just stick to one template for decades. Telugu cinama is lucky to get Oscar and Pan world reach but dont take it for granted. Please give me my money back not just tickets but also also for those expensive water and sandwiches.

One of the best movie seen in recent time. This being a Hindu mythological story, this needs to be imparted to next generation children. Depicts highest, pure form of devotion to lord Siva.
Thought of writing a review on the same day itself, but couldn't as my show ended 2.00 AM felt sleepy. Now even after 1 week, I felt the urge of providing review for this movie.
It will be a best experience for all those people, who has a connect for devotion to lord Siva.
Aruja even after being a devotee, had to face intense tests form lord, and had to take one more birth for getting altimate penance, and had to call Oh lord Siva for getting the ultimate embrace with lord siva at his aboard.

Not worth👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻. 99% of the audience are Prabhas fans and that 20 mins of Prabhas screen presence is good other than that nothing great. Not a great writing, direction and screen play. The budget they put to make this movie is not justified at all. First half of the movie is not even worth 5 mins. Last 20mins of the movie is okay
Wait for OTT if you really want to watch.
Director-1.5/5 BGM-2/5 Screenplay-1/5 Prabhas as Rudra-3.5/5 Mohan babu acting-3/5 Akshay kumar-3/5 Other actors-2/5 Vishnu-1/5
Story-1/5 better to watch the Original Bhakta Kannapa movie.
Big budget movie but lacks in every aspects.

I dont know why people are review bombing this movie so badly. Its not as bad as people are complaining. It was a very decent movie and every actor gave their best efforts including Manchu Vishnu who was convincing as a good actor to lead the role as Thinnadu/Kannappa. Maybe it's the prejudice against the controversial behaviour he had over the years that has negarively impacted people's view of him as an actor. I think a movie is supposed to be watched for entertainment and not based on these predetermined biases that affect the livelihood of so many people who worked hard for this film.
Vishnu has done a brilliant job and so has every other actor in this film. Although there were some highs and lows from time to time, it was a still a very captivating movie. The setup in the first half and the pay off in the second half were very well crafted. Prabhas did a brilliant job and his conversation with Vishnu has a lot of weight for the films narrative. Mohan Lal had a very small but pivotal part that also affects the story in a positive way setting up a reasonable narrative.
Apart from being a socio-fantasy and spiritual story, there were lots of engaging parts of the story that will keep you entertained and glued to screen and never make you feel like you are bored.
Just watch with an open heart and an open mind and enjoy the film as is.

A great cast, a poor screenplay and a disastrous storyline is what brings Kanappa together.
The future generation of Manchu family (Vishnu's kuds) are introduced in the first 10 minutes. Sharat kumar, Mohanlal, Brahmanandam could have done better roles.
The casting is a big minus. Especially Akshay Kumar for Shiva, Vishnu for Thinnada
The direction was oppressed by the senior actors esp Mohan babu, when his character wins some sense until Prabhas/Rudra comes to the screen. Acting is surely an understatement.
The movie flatters boredom right from the start as the script lacked conviction. It was more a natural tour of New Zealand.
Srikalahasti is a legendary tale, they should have focused more on that. But when amateur directors are welcomed, this is what we get best.

The highly awaited Indian mythological film *Kannappa*, starring Tollywood actor Manchu Vishnu, has finally hit theaters today, stirring excitement among fans and moviegoers. The film is based on the legendary story of Kannappa, a devoted follower of Lord Shiva, and promises a blend of devotion, drama, and cinematic spectacle.
Manchu Vishnu leads the cast with a powerful performance, bringing the character of Kannappa to life with emotional depth and action. Adding star power to the film, pan-Indian superstar Prabhas makes a special cameo appearance - a moment that truly electrifies the audience. His entry on screen adds energy, complements the narrative, and significantly boosts the film's mass appeal.
Actor Manoj has also delivered a mature and compelling performance, with standout action sequences. His scenes, especially following Prabhas's appearance, elevate the overall impact and have contributed to the film's strong box office momentum. Loved the movie for storyline, acting and the tribal pulchritude. It is important for the audience to understand that bringing stories from Puranas to mainstream movies is quite tricky, and this is a great attempt. May they make a lot more such movies, and may the quality keep improving.
Good points:- great acting, action sequences and and attempt at maintaining tribal sanctity.
What could have been better :- screenplay. The scenes should flow seamlessly. Also the screentime could have been shorter. But i still applaud the makers for picking up the story of a devotee largely unknown to the north of the country, and bringing him alive on screens.
Loved the movie. Take kids along and watch.

Despite big names like Prabhas and several cameo appearances, the film fails to impress. The choreography lacked impact, and the story narration felt disjointed with no emotional depth or standout moments. Cameos seemed forced and underutilized, adding little to the plot. Even Prabhas's role was not well-developed, missing the powerful presence he's known for. Weak presentation, poor pacing, and inconsistent visuals further hurt the experience. Overall, it was a disappointing watch, earning just 4 out of 10-saved only by the excitement of the cameo characters. It's better for a call to manchu family can stop acting in the movies and start the production to make better career in the industry.

Kannappa is a beautiful movie , the cinematography, screenplay, songsusic is top notch. All the actors acted so well, especially Vishnu Prabhas & Akshay Kumar have done fantastic job. Kannappa is the greatest devotee of Lord Shiva, his life story deserves everyone to watch & know about him. VFX is also Top Notch
Go for it with Family. BGM of the movie 🎥 is so good, it elevates the emotional & divine scenes of the Movie. Every Hindu should watch this wonderful Shiva movie. Thank you.

Such a horrible screenplay if anyone values 3 hours pf valuable time refea8n from the movie . Story telling is at the lowest no proper BGM, cheap graphics . Hero has built body eating too much of meat but not investiled time to sharpen his acting skills. Expressions are horrible . Only saviour is 15 mins of prabhas. Better to watch it on OTT moving fast forward button.

Location is out of sync to movie, the primary focus is lost in story telling by director. Ecpressionless cast except prabhas.

Kannappa is not just a film - it's a spiritual journey that touched my soul. From the very beginning to the final frame, the movie carried a divine energy that transported me to a different emotional and devotional space.
Manchu Vishnu delivered what I truly believe is the best performance of his career - raw, intense, and deeply heartfelt. He portrayed Kannappa's transformation and devotion with such sincerity that it left a lasting impression.
And just when the emotions reached a high, Prabhas entered the screen and took the movie to a whole new level. His presence was powerful, commanding, and pivotal to the film's turning point. It elevated the story both emotionally and spiritually.
The direction, music, and visuals all come together to create an experience that lingers with you long after the credits roll. A must-watch for those who love devotional epics and meaningful storytelling.

The movie was an extraordinary cinematic experience that left a lasting impression from start to finish. Right from the opening scene, it captured the audience's attention with a strong narrative, breathtaking visuals, and a powerful emotional core. Every frame was crafted with great attention to detail, making it not just a film but a complete visual spectacle. The director and technical team deserve full credit for bringing such a grand vision to life on the big screen.
One of the most striking aspects of the movie was its visual presentation. The use of colors, lighting, and visual effects was nothing short of remarkable. Each scene was presented like a moving painting, with rich backdrops and realistic settings that immersed the audience in the story's world. Whether it was the grandeur of palaces, the intensity of battlefield sequences, or the subtle emotional moments shared between characters, the visuals played a crucial role in enhancing the overall impact. The VFX was seamlessly integrated, and it never felt artificial or overdone. Instead, it served to elevate the storytelling to an entirely new level.
Coming to the performances, legendary actor Dr. Mohan Babu delivered an outstanding performance that added depth and strength to the film. His screen presence, dialogue delivery, and emotional range were top-notch. It's clear that he still commands the screen like few others can. He portrayed his character with such authority and grace that the audience couldn't help but be completely drawn into his role. Whether it was a moment of intensity, wisdom, or vulnerability, Mohan Babu handled every emotion with perfect timing and conviction. He brought gravitas and dignity to the role, making his character one of the most memorable aspects of the film.
Manchu Vishnu, on the other hand, gave one of the most mature and impressive performances of his career. He carried the film's emotional weight with great sincerity and dedication. It was evident that he had put in a lot of effort into understanding his character, and it showed in every scene he appeared in. His action sequences were powerful, his emotional scenes were heart-touching, and his chemistry with the other actors was very natural. This movie can easily be seen as a career-defining role for Manchu Vishnu. The audience could clearly feel his commitment and hard work in every frame.
Apart from the leads, every actor who was part of the movie did absolute justice to their respective roles. The casting was perfect, and each character was written with a purpose. There was no unnecessary screen time or forced drama. Every actor, whether playing a major role or a supporting one, contributed significantly to the flow of the narrative. The villains were menacing and well-crafted, the comic reliefs were subtle yet impactful, and the emotional characters were deeply relatable. It's rare to see a film where the entire cast shines with such brilliance and balance, but this movie achieved that.
The screenplay was tightly written and engaging throughout. The story moved at a perfect pace - not too slow, not rushed - allowing the audience to connect with the characters and the plot. There were no dull moments, and every scene had a purpose, either to build the plot or to develop the characters. The dialogues were powerful and often poetic, especially in key moments of confrontation or revelation. Some lines stayed with the audience even after the movie ended. That's a sign of excellent writing.
The background score and music added an extra layer of intensity to the narrative. The songs were beautifully composed, with lyrics that enhanced the story rather than interrupting it. The background score, in particular, was one of the movie's strongest technical aspects. It elevated the mood of every scene and intensified emotional moments. Whether it was a moment of triumph, loss, or suspense, the music knew exactly when to rise and when to stay subtle.
The editing was crisp, with smooth transitions and no unnecessary scenes. The editor deserves credit for maintaining the rhythm of the movie, ensuring that the audience remained engaged at all times. The costume design and production design were equally impressive. The attention to detail in terms of clothing, makeup, and set design reflected the time and effort put into making the film authentic and visually appealing. Every costume told a story, and every background added depth to the world being portrayed.
From a thematic point of view, the film dealt with values such as courage, sacrifice, loyalty, justice, and redemption. These timeless themes were handled maturely, without being overly dramatic or preachy. The characters were all given a strong moral compass, and their actions and decisions felt believable and grounded. The emotional arcs were strong, and by the time the movie reached its climax, the audience had already formed deep emotional bonds with the characters.
The climax of the movie was powerful and emotionally satisfying. It tied all the loose ends beautifully and delivered a conclusion that was both meaningful and memorable. The final scenes left a deep emotional impact, and many viewers were seen wiping away tears as the credits rolled. Overall, this movie was not just an ordinary film; it was a grand cinematic experience. It had everything - brilliant performances, stunning visuals, engaging storytelling, emotional depth, and a soul. The teamwork and effort behind the scenes were clearly visible in the final product. Films like this are a reminder of why cinema is such a powerful medium. It connects people, tells unforgettable stories, and inspires emotions that stay long after the movie ends.
This film deserves to be watched not just once, but multiple times, to truly appreciate the layers of storytelling and artistic brilliance it offers. It's a film that appeals to all generations and all kinds of audiences. Whether you go in looking for action, drama, emotion, or visual delight - you'll find everything in this movie.
In conclusion, the movie stands as a shining example of what happens when passion, talent, and vision come together in perfect harmony. Mohan Babu and Manchu Vishnu have delivered unforgettable performances, and the supporting cast has enhanced the story beautifully. With such visual splendor and storytelling excellence, this film will surely be remembered as one of the finest in recent times.

CG is very poor. Total cook up of the factual history.
Lots of people already know the story, so the movie needed to make us feel more feelings. But the first part is kind of slow and boring, and the real story doesn't really start until halfway through.
Thinnadu loves Shiva a lot, and they show that okay, but they could have made it more sweet and emotional so we really feel it.
Mohan Babu's character is funny, but they didn't use him much. His scenes with Vishnu could have been awesome, but they weren't that strong.
Some important parts, like how Thinnadu feels about his dad and his wife, don't get much time. If they showed more of that, we might care more about what's going on.
Other people in the movie, like Madhubala and Brahmanandam, don't do much. Their characters feel kind of useless. Also, the fight scenes could have looked cooler.

Kannappa - A Visual & Star-Studded Treat!
A bold and refreshing retelling of the Srikalahasti temple , Kannappa stands out with its unique storytelling and grand visuals.
The presence of Mohan Lal, Akshay Kumar, Prabhas, Mohan Babu, Manchu Vishnu, and Sarath Kumar adds star power and gravitas to the film.
First Half: Modern - follows a non-believer's journey Second Half: Devotional and emotional - reveals the core of the original tale
A commendable attempt to blend spirituality with commercial cinema.
Negatives: Some scenes feel stretched, a few VFX moments could be better, and emotional connect dips at times.
But still, far better than most mass or meaningless films we see today.

This is a movie where actor is boasted for his height and muscular body. Lack of humbleness and bad screenplay, story.
Lack of intensity, Manchu Vishnu's horrible acting and lack of background vfx faults the movie heavily.
Movie also lacks philosophical values. At one point, Vishnu says "pride? I'm the son of kunthi" which means, he's Arjuna and Arjuna never lacked in humble character like shown in the film. It rewrites philosophical values of Mahabharata. Honestly, except the locations, this movie lacks everything.
Movie team made the hype bluff where they overpromised scenes, characterization and devotion. But it actually shows romance, emotions against devotion.

Every hindu will feel proud after watching this film. The amount of love the star cast has put into this film for mahadev is the best part of this film.
Each and every emotion hits you hard when you realise that's it's not just a film but our history.
Starting with songs - absolutely soothing to ears
The film feels streched in the beginning
But the thing which i saw in climax Is something i can't express in words.
So all stars for the powerful climax.
Akshay kumar shines as mahadev
The lead actor vishnu manchu also tried his best.
Prabhas - shines in the maha shivaratri sequence Loved it.

Obviously unrealistic, cinematography? Disastrous u can clearly the wireworks , the actions weren't clear , random cuts, 0 continuity in panning , some of the scenes were straight out of other movies , the amy fight scene bahubali ... The prabhas h2h combat .... The prosecutor and so on... It was just another money grabber by using hinduism and religious sentiments..this is my personal review I don't have any hate towards any targeted personnel.
