Exclusive: BAFTA and Academy-Award-winning indie production company Cowboy Films has secured the rights in a competitive situation to adapt Cat Fight, the novel by Kit Conway, for TV. The deal was brokered by UTA on behalf of the author.

Bantam will publish the novel in the U.K. on May 15, with the U.S. to follow on June 3 from Atria Books.

Exclusive: MPI Media Group has acquired North American distribution rights for Saïd Belktibia’s French thriller Hood Witch starring Golshifteh Farahani and Denis Lavant.

Following a successful world premiere at London’s FrightFest, Dark Sky Films today announced it has acquired North American distribution rights to Herd, an action-driven horror film and the directorial debut from Steven Pierce, co-written by Pierce and James Allerdyce. Indie filmmaker Onur Tukel has a lot to say in his latest, Poundcake, a horror satire that mixes slasher with political discourse.

Fans of Tukel know that his films have always been heavy on commentary, and this one is sure to get a rise out of people.

The first "Simpsons" Halloween special, first aired on October 25, 1990, was a banner event for the rising tide of "Simpsons" fans. Many a youth rushed to their VCRs that evening, eager to capture on tape an event unprecedented in the show. While "The Simpsons" typically had fewer structural rules than its live-action sitcom counterparts, it was still set in a relatively recognizable world. The Halloween special promised a visit to the supernatural, a tantalizing event to say the least. "The Simpsons" and "Tales from the Crypt" were going to bleed into one another.

The death of the Men in Trees star at 53 has officially been ruled an accident.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner released a report on Wednesday confirming as much.

Heche's cause of death is listed as inhalation and thermal injuries from a fiery car crash earlier this month.

What's more, the report states that it was an accident.

It says that Heche suffered a "sternal fracture due to blunt trauma" from the car crash.

Sternal fractures typically occur after the chest strikes the steering wheel in motor vehicle collisions.

Heche was behind the wheel of her Mini Cooper when she crashed into a home in the Mar Vista area of Los Angeles.

The car and the home caught fire.

It was so severe that it took 59 firefighters over an hour to control.

Anne Heche has died.

The veteran actress, who was caught up in a fiery car crash on August 5, has died.

She was 53.

News of her passing comes shortly after her family released a statement saying the star was not expected to survive after suffering a severe anoxic brain injury.

At the time of the statement, it was revealed Heche was being kept on life support as doctors determined if any of her organs were viable for donation.

"Unfortunately, due to her accident, Anne suffered a severe anoxic brain injury and remains in a coma, in critical condition," the statement, released on August 11, reads.

"She is not expected to survive."

"It has long been her choice to donate her organs and she's being kept on life support to determine if any are viable," the statement continues.

In the wake of suffering a severe brain injury one week ago as a result of a devastating car crash, it’s being reported today that Anne Heche has tragically passed away.

The actress was just 53 years old, leaving behind two children.

“Anne had a huge heart and touched everyone she met with her generous spirit,” Heche’s reps said in a statement. “More than her extraordinary talent, she saw spreading kindness and joy as her life’s work — especially moving the needle for acceptance of who you love. She will be remembered for her courageous honesty and dearly missed for her light.”

Heche had been in a coma since the crash in L.A.’s Mar Vista neighborhood on Friday, August 5. She had been under investigation for reportedly driving under the influence.

Anne Heche is reportedly in a coma and in critical condition Monday following a car accident in which her car crashed into a Los Angeles residence on Friday, setting fire to both the home and vehicle.

“She has a significant pulmonary injury requiring mechanical ventilation and burns that require surgical intervention,” a rep for the actress said in a statement sent to media outlets Monday. Heche slipped into a coma shortly after the accident, the rep told CNN.

Heche’s reps previously shared on Saturday that the actress was in “stable condition” after her hospitalization and that Heche’s family was asking for “thoughts and prayers and to respect her privacy during this difficult time.”

The Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed in a public report that the car collided into a two-story home in the Mar Vista neighborhood of L.A., causing a fire.

Uncork'd Entertainment has unveiled the first official red band trailer for a brutal horror comedy titled Homewrecker, with a nod to Bloody-Disgusting for dropping this. The film premiered at Fantasia last year, and also played at Fantastic Fest and the Toronto After Dark Film Festival in the fall. Loneliness turns violent when a young interior designer makes a dangerous new friend. It quickly becomes clear that Linda has something far more sinister on her mind than throw pillows. Starring Alex Essoe and Precious Chong as the two women, both of whom also co-wrote the script, along with Anthony Matthews and Kris Siddiqi. First-time filmmaker Ariel Kavoussi hit upon a very relatable idea when she began working on her debut film: why not twist the trope of the mediocre white man into something a bit more satisfying? She turned her fantasy into reality in “The Poet and the Professor,” a short film starring Kavoussi as a woman stuck in a love triangle with two pathetic older men, played by Kevin Corrigan and Bob Byington. The film’s title is a reference to Jean Eustache’s 1973 film “The Mother and the Whore,” and also features a love triangle as its narrative core. The Cleaning Lady stars Alexis Kendra (Valentine’s Day) in the story of a lonely woman who finds companionship with her cleaning lady who was disfigured in a childhood accident. As the relationship develops, she learns the tragic truth behind the scars and becomes embroiled in an act of revenge. The film was directed by Jon Knautz (Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer).

Anne Heche is the latest actress to say she experienced sexual harassment while working with producer Harvey Weinstein. The “Catfight” star said she was fired from a Miramax project, the company Weinstein founded with his brother Bob, after refusing to perform oral sex on the producer.

“I personally did not suck Harvey’s dick, although he showed it to me and I got out of the room before there was any physical contact,” Heche said during a podcast interview with “Allegedly“. “The fact is, I was fired from a job that I had been hired for in Miramax.”

For those obsessed with the lurid things in life, a campy new biopic on notorious serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer’s teenage years is sure to satisfy. In the official trailer for “My Friend Dahmer,” which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival earlier this year, Disney Channel star Ross Lynch inhabits the role of the teenaged murderer with an eerie calmness. Anne Heche makes a brief but memorable appearance as Dahmer’s troubled mother, and Dallas Roberts (“Dallas Buyers Club”) plays his tortured father.

One of America’s most infamous serial killers, Dahmer murdered 17 men and boys between 1978 and 1991 before being captured and incarcerated. “My Friend Dahmer” tells the story of what happened to make him that way. Directed by Marc Meyers, the film is based on a graphic novel by Derf Backderf, who knew Dahmer in high school and appears as a character in the film.
