As Max aims to help his ghost friends reunite with their missing parents, Phears returns, taking possession of a TV-famous charlatan ghost hunter in order to best Max and unleash his trapped army of darkness.
My first mistake was going into this not knowing it was the third in a series. That being said, it was obvious that nothing was missing from my understanding of the plot based on that lack of seeing the last two films. And I will say one thing: Jamie Kennedy gives a solid performance.
But beyond that... wow. What is up with the brother's face? And why does Max put up with a girlfriend who mistreats him and is ready to leave him for the biggest jerk in school? He has serious dependency issues. (The actress is, by the way, awful in every way and hopefully this marks the end of her career.)

I absolutely love this movie! It topped Movie 2 in my opinion I really hope a movie 4 for book 4 happens! Do not listen to the negative reviews keep the mostly ghostly movies coming! I want to see what happens next I do not even care if you have to change up the cast again I am so hooked on this movie series that I do not care how the Storyline continues I just wanna see it continue! Movie 3 Was excellent! No wait make that I really wanna happens next so please make a movie 4! Plus continue the movies all the way don't close your eyes.this movie franchise is golden it deserves all of its rightful movies for all 8 of the mostly ghostly books. Movie 3 was perfect and I just know movie number 4 will top movie 3 so please make a movie 4. This movie franchise deserves all 8 movies for all 8 books in other words finish off this movie franchise properly.
No continuity throughout the movie series with each movie the actors got worse.
I sat down to watch "Mostly Ghostly 3: One Night in Doom House" with my six year old son, but he quickly lost interest in the movie, and I was left with the movie alone. At the time when he gave up, I wasn't particularly impressed with the movie, but still decided to continue on.
In all honesty, then I didn't get to finish the movie, because it just never appealed to me in any way. Sure, this is a 'scary' movie for the youngsters, but it could just as easily have had some appeal to an adult audience as well. Sadly, it didn't.
The storyline was semi-adequate, at least up to the point where my interest dwindled fully away. But there was just something lacking from the movie, because you never really fully immersed yourself into the storyline.
The acting in "Mostly Ghostly 3: One Night in Doom House" was good enough, but I can't really put a finger on any one particular performance that stood out. It was somewhat of a surprise to see Danny Trejo and Jamie Kennedy make an appearance in a movie such as thing, perhaps mostly so for the part of Danny Trejo.
A ghost movie, despite it not really being meant to scare, still needs to have good effects to be fully convincing, and "Mostly Ghostly 3: One Night in Doom House" didn't really have impressive effects. And that was also one of the reasons why my interest in the movie was ebbing fast.
"Mostly Ghostly 3: One Night in Doom House" is a movie for a young audience, no doubt about it, and I am sure that there is a solid following of the series out there somewhere. But those people were not in our household.
The movie lands a less than mediocre four out of ten stars rating from me. And I can with all honesty say that I am not going to return to the movie to finish watching it.
