Started off really good, but as it went on they had missed opportunities. Never read the comics but have played the video games so I'm familiar with the source material. Although there are some similarities the film did go off on its own, which I understand you don't want to make just a copy of something else even though it would have made for a better movie. It did feel rushed like some of the other reviewers have mentioned but they only had an hour and 18 mins to work with which is usually the runtimes of a lot of the DC animated films. All in all the movies had potential and didn't make use of that I still found it somewhat entertaining.
A rushed and forced adaption of excellent source material. WB continues to use a comic book appearing 2 dimension animation style that detracts from the movie. Voice acting is ok. However, voice actor selection was poor for some characters. It is watchable but didn't meet expectations.
Normally I am not a fan of the 'what if' takes on already established comic characters, and I didn't know what the 2021 DC animated feature "Injustice" was one such story. But still, I opted to sit down to watch it with my son, as he enjoys superheroes. Whereas I can watch movies with superheroes, but it is not my first choice, as I find superheroes a bit bland.
Writers Ernie Altbacker and Tom Taylor actually managed to put together an entertaining storyline. Sure, it was generic in terms of something like this has been seen and done before, many times over. But the storyline told in "Injustice" actually proved interesting given the deaths of villains and superheroes alike, as well as the sheer amount of violence and fighting that took place.
The art style in "Injustice" was good and fluid, and that definitely added to the overall enjoyment of the whole thing. There was a slight touch of good old 1980s cartoon over it, while it managed to be fresh and modern, without it succumbing into a child-like art style, such as seen in the "Teen Titans Go" and such.
With "Injustice" being an animated feature, then having a good voice acting ensemble is alpha and omega. And luckily they had a great ensemble put together for performing the voices for this animated movie. I didn't recognize a single voice though, and having looked through the cast list after the movie ended, I wasn't really familiar with a single performer, for better or worse.
"Injustice" actually turned out to be a nice surprise, and certainly one of the more enjoyable of DC animated movies, if you ask me. I liked the dark and gritty feel it had, the violence and mayhem, and the fact that it was aimed at an adult audience.
My rating of "Injustice" lands on a six out of ten stars.

As a movie, it is fine. It is enjoyable in that regard, but it completely failed to grasp the essence of Injustice that is shown in the comics and games. It did have some nice moments, but important events in the story were just severely rushed. As a series, this would have been great, but the extremely short runtime restricted the quality of this film. Overall, it is not bad, but this is not what Injustice should have been.
I do not hate this movie. It´s an uneven but efficient entertainment. But its deadliest sin is to be based on a far, far superior source. The first ten minutes are the best of this film. Then, it falls short on both its politically troubled message and how to close its own character´s arc. Sudden deaths and political subtext as an alibi doesn´t make this movie a grown up, nor a good one. Just a bloated, messy fun film that it could have been so much better.

- TriviaJustin Hartley, who plays the voice of Superman, previously played the live-action role of Green Arrow on the TV series Smallville (2001). "Smallville" is a series about Clark Kent before becoming Superman. This would also be Justin's third DC outing as he also had the starring role in the unaired Aquaman TV Pilot.
- ErroresDuring their chess game, Mr. Terrific puts Superman in check three times in three simultaneous moves before putting him in checkmate. Technically, the game should have been over after the third check, resulting in a stalemate.
