What can be said about a anime series that although based off a manga / light novels where most of the creative-work was already done, managed to capture the necessary-conflict between prim-prunes, and irreverent-hentai, that both Japan, and the WORLD, needs to see?
Inevitable everywhere, but again, not everyone chooses to lead in this regard, and there is something to be said here for reform and it's opposites as the latter of the two struggle in our accelerating technological revolution & societal adjustments to it,
that said, some of the references unique or more familiar to Japanese audiences might go over many's heads, but i didn't have a problem with that,
this series can be watched in a take-it-lightly way, without needing to google every word and reference you don't understand,
mainly because of it's well set-up character-conflict dynamics - the monster that is Anna, and the resolute Ayame, with poor old Okuma inbetween like a slice of meat in a sandwich, both bizzarely parallel forces in the school, one two-faced and insane, the other conflicted but committed to their choice,
this series actually portrays a 'necessary-evil', VERY well, in that regard, while the hypocrisy, molestations, sexual-assaults, and outright attempted-rape BY Anna, are in constant contrast to the good chosen-level of reversal of policy aimed for by SOX, a misunderstood protest-group, really.
Called terrorists though, they struggle under the scapegoating oppression of TOO-civil society, and encounter a few further manifesations of the same pressure-creating-monsters rather than a more reasonable balance preventing them,.. along the way - my favourite, gathered fabric, with it's defiant suave? There's another word for it.. .consumate? Leader white peak, who i was surprised when i first watched it, could not be tolerated by the low-bets overly careful but-tactful Ayame.
Her wisdom prevails in the end, in better-understanding the context they're in, in not pushing things too far else risk the falling into the traps of the machievellian emotional-blackmail & similar machinations of the morality-pushers behind the oppressive system, preferring instead for GRADUAL reversal to balance,
but i could not help but agree and sympathise with White Peak, in his point about the world being insane, and "needing to be destroyed",
and the same with Kosuri's line that "thee people are no better than my decrepid father", and another about pandering at one point ;
There is a lesson to be learnt there, about irreverence, and who historically has backed it while being at the same time, pressured by especially religion.
It's a lesson already taught & remembered though, so it doesn't need to become overly-political, the constant refusal to stop doing her wordplay puns and double-entedres constantly frustrating Okuma, still brings a smile to my face most scenes when i watch it again.
Probably not suited for too-young an audience,
it definately has a, well, several points to make, and does so while also have a laugh all-throughout, but does still succeed in making a few tender moments when the generation we're following, find the efforts of their immediate past generations, which RE-FRAMES the questions the series raises, into more than just the immediate questions posed by the pushers of the control systems - their focus is narrow, but even just these handful of kids, can realise and discover that it's a much longer conflict with more depth than at-first might not appear, that especially the information suppression, is to be despised and defied, even if differences between groups mean that different groups have to part ways on some issues - more of that in more episodes with gathered fabric, could've portrayed that too, with some successes in cooperations painting more of a optimistic potential from the multiple groups (mostly)common ground,
but as i understand it, the series wound up doing less than perhaps it could've.
A second series then!
A wider picture/setting, and Q.s moreso public-indecency than personal-liberty?
SOX's timid limits of their ambitions, did limit how much the series could take on.
BUT, to be fair, it was consistent both in terms of what the group DID, and what they SAID, they were about,
so it was a integral struggle, in terms of their manifesto matching their deeds. Gathered fabric or similar groups would have to admit that, i think.
---------------
This world, IS insane, though, he's right.
It DOES, still, need to be destroyed,
Groups like SOX have their limits.
So do YOU,.. if you keep society's ball & chain dragging you back, like Ayame did.

(7.5/10) A funny anime with all the dirty jokes you could ever want. This series is funny, full of action, and the character developement was decent but in end it was left open to interpretation on what would happen next which was a little dissapointing. I was hoping for the relationships between the characters to play out a little more but overall it was an enjoyable series.

Well, to give you a quick rundown of my own experience, I've been watching anime since the 1990s, and reading manga/manhua/manwha since the 2000s. Now that that is out of the way;
This series is good, if you can stomach it. I was red with embarrassment the entire time. I was laughing, screaming, stunned, the list goes on. I have never been caught so off guard before. The amount of times I had to pause each episode just to regain my composure was ridiculous.
I don't care much for comedies anymore, especially in anime, because it normally supersedes anything of meaning. I don't even know how I stumbled onto this series. Nonetheless, I'm glad I did.
Forgive me if my review is not as professional as one would like. This is my first review of IMDb. For whatever reason, I needed to express my thoughts on this series, and thus I came here.
Story - 7/10 Decent. The premise is honestly not bad. We can all imagine what it would be like if society, especially the youth, were repressed more so than they are today. Through comedy, this series shows how ridiculous it is to suppress natural healthy feelings, especially naughty ones I guess haha.
Characters - 7/10 Likeable. Each character is likeable. I personally am not fond of the artist, and our main female protagonist grates on my nerves a little, but generally speaking, everyone is interesting and likeable. I was enthralled and just wanted to see more of the characters and how they grow from their experiences.
Art - 7/10 Cute and appealing. I have a particular art style I like, and to me, this anime is mostly an average artwork. Stepping outside of my experiences, cute and appealing sound fitting for it. It's not ground-shattering, but it doesn't have to be to be good.
Music - Honestly no idea, the story got me so cracked I could barely pay attention to any musical themes that were playing for almost any scene.
This anime is not safe for work. It's not safe around your parents. It's absolutely not safe for kids 17 and under. It's barely safe for your own sanity. If you are having a rough day, if you're depressed, if you want something borderline hentai, watch this. You can finish it in a day, and you'll be dying the entire time.

- P. S. When you get to the cookie scene, understand this, I do not know what I would have done if I were him. If the circumstances were more appealing to me, would I be okay with it? I genuinely don't know. I've been in healthy relationships, done a lot of experimenting, have had lots of fun, but this? Yikes.

Coming in to this show, I want people to know that this show is dumb fun and nothing more.
While the concept of the show is used to make fun characters and weird story lines, I want you to know that's all it will do with the story. It will not push the limits of your ideas of $ex, love and freedom but just be a show to laugh at while having to look over your shoulder every five minutes due to the frankly fucking crazy, borderline rapey scenes included. Plus while the final episode was good I do feel it seems like an over produces OVA, especially because of the sold end that was episode 11.
Besides that it's good and I enjoyed the ride this anime took me on.

'Shimoneta' is set in a near future where everything even vaguely sexual has been outlawed. The protagonist is roped into the "erotic terrorist" group SOX, trying to educate their high school in all things carnal by spreading dirty pictures.
While amusing for a few episodes, the dirty humor soon becomes grating, devolving from fairly clever innuendo into the secondary protagonist yelling vulgar words at opportune moments. Similarly, the reasonably fun slice-of-life approach suddenly turns into an over the top action-based mess where a panty-obsessed fetishist commits mild but genuine terrorism. There's also a non-con subplot of the female-love-interest-turned-creepy-stalker forcing herself onto the protagonist, because the writers thought that's funny I guess.
Issues with the story aside, the characters are fleshed out fairly well, the animation is good, the soundtrack does its job, and even the English dub is solid.
All in all, 'Shimoneta' is light-hearted fun, primarily targeted at male teenagers who think that yelling genital-related words is funny. I found a bit of a slog after the first few episodes, but it was amusing enough.

This show is hilarious. It's also very sexual. I can almost guarantee it will make you laugh. Its about a world where all vulgar language, porn, and anything that isn't "pure and good-hearted" is completely banned and illegal. A terrorist group called sox is trying to bring all of that back. There is some sequences of what people would call sexual assault that is borderline rape. Except all of these scenes are absolutely hilarious in my opinion. I recommend it to young men who are at least over the age of 13.

I would definitely recommend this show. I wish that there was a second season.
Story - This series is basically a very extreme (and hilarious) commentary on how censorship is viewed in the media today. The world gets surprisingly well developed and the characters and story is pretty clever and interesting. I don't want to give too much away, as its really really good.
Characters - The characters are all fully fleshed out and well written. You get the goals of the cast, their motivations for why they do stuff. Everyone is written well enough that the comedy works into the story.
Animation - The animation is pretty good. I like the futuristic world that was created for this story and the overall art is very good.

I've watched just 4 episodes of this and I honestly thought it was funny at first because it's like reality where any of us do try to not say bad language, but we end up failing regardless. However after watching the 4th episode, I think it went downhill from there. Why? Because the "dirty" jokes were rather too overpowering and made me feel I've had enough of giving me a headache.
I honestly don't get why the characters have undies covering their faces. Its basically like if Beanos Captain Underpants was made into an anime the wrong way. I really if the writers and animators thought about that while creating the anime? Lol
Any ways I'm glad this anime tried but same time, I personally wouldn't call this the best anime out there. It's pretty much a hit and miss...

I get 0 sex education from school that why I don't know nothing until my X grade so I like the other student of this fictions school. And it just funny as per big extended.
See if the using naughty in this word that is criminal offence and surveillance is too much. In this world a superhero takes responsibility to teach sex education to the children that don't know about it.
It is hilarious the talk that you listen here I don't expect this is coming this is one of show that adult comedy do right in amine. As mostly they just shows things you know that.

Hehe! What a goofy show!
Even wondered what would happen if prudes ruled the world? Stoicism and a total abhorrence of salaciousness!
Ever felt guilty sharing a dirty joke? Here's a world gone "right" without wiggle room for the odd jab in the side and snicker for a "jock" joke. While I think stealing undergarments is a crime and a fetish, I found myself snickering and suppressing laughing out loud at the antics of frustrated young man (and women) dying for a little zest and sprite in their lives!
Enjoy people!

Shimoneta's intriguing premise - a future Japan banning adult content, monitored by 'Public Morals' collars - devolves into disjointed, cringeworthy episodes. Narrative jumps all over, making character investment impossible. Finished 12 episodes wondering, 'What did I just watch?'
Dirty jokes and satire fall flat, feeling juvenile and annoying. Seitokai Yakuindomo balances humor and commentary masterfully; Shimoneta imitates poorly.
Characters are self-absorbed, forgetting the main mission amidst daily antics.
Mindless timepass, maybe. Substance seekers, look elsewhere.
Recommended alternative: Seitokai Yakuindomo.
Rating: 4/10.

"Shimoneta: a boring world where the concept of dirty jokes do not exist": as a fan of this anime I have a lot of things to say about this amazing show. (DISCLAIMER: This sires involves topics so if you are below the age of 18 you can not watch this program)
Story: The plot of Shimoneta is about Japan in the future where public morality laws have gone to a point where you can get arrested for being a Naughty boy. our two main characters are Tanukichi Okuma and to Ayame Kajou or in her more known name Blue snow those two are the members of SOX (S*x happens most Often on X-mas) an organization of terrorists that want to make dirty jokes talking legal again.
Characters: In Shimoneta there is a large amount of interesting characters including: Ayame Kajou- Blue snow, Ayame's character is a very wired one because we usually do not get the pervy type of character in the female version. Even so her character is lacking some personality she is a very good one especially if you from the those who like the pervy ones (me). Tanukichi Okuma- Blue snow assistant, Okuma's character is unusual his father was a terrorist when the law were just announced but he was arrested for his "crimes". After that Okuma had a harsh life no one wanted to be with the child of a criminal until he met anna, anna chaned his life not just because she cared about him, but because she was the only one who wanted to be with him. At the end of the day Okuma is a great character and a great human being. Anna Nishikinomiya, Anna is the childhood friend of Okuma and the daughter of the only one Sophia Nishikinomiya the one who created the the laws against naughty talk. As you progress through the show you will encounter a changes in Anna's personality. Anna is purest child on earth so she is the best character in the whole group. Otome Saotome- member of SOX, Saotome is an artistic girl who draw prn for SOX and a stocker of Anna she is an interesting part of the sires because she is not a main character but she plays a big roll in the progress SOX making. Kosuri Onigashira- member of SOX, with a hair style that look like a winner and being a fangirl of SOX here you have your.... boring and annoying character that makes more mess then a cming boy. Those are just the few characters but there is a lot more of theme.

I know it's inappropriate for some people but it's the concept of the story . And how they presented it is really appreciable . Very nice anime. Rest of the ecchi anime are just showing weird things which is kinda boring But this is different from them . It's very funny and amazing. My favourite ecchi Anime .

This show is hilarious. Ayame is by far one of the best written character in recent times. She is foul mouthed but also complicated and her goal does have a purpose besides just wanting to be obscene. I hope there's a second season sometime.

This work have a very sticky humor sense and all the characters are interesting and original. The deepness of them and the story are only available to an attent observer. A very stylish artwork too and the choice of voices are absolutely well done. I liked all the chapters and the introduction of new characters are in a frankly good time that only enriched the experience. A very profund topic to abord in a very good comical experience. It's the best anime I saw and makes me be interested a lot more in this kind of project, I don't want this masterpiece to end. Surely I will rewatch it at least three times.

Shimoneta: A Boring World Where the Concept of Dirty Jokes Doesn't Exist is a hilarious and wildly original anime that blends absurd ecchi humor with sharp social commentary. Set in a dystopian Japan where all indecent language and behavior are outlawed, the show follows a group of rebels fighting for freedom of expression-through dirty jokes and outrageous pranks. It's crude, chaotic, and often outrageous, but it's also unexpectedly clever. The characters are unforgettable, especially Ayame, and the satire hits surprisingly hard. It's bold, brilliant, and unlike anything else out there.
10/10 I recommend!
