With Love From Pakistan

I'm a big movie goer but not so active on reviewing them. but this Punjabi flick blown me away... I'll must say this is one of the best Punjabi movies I've ever seen. It won't be wrong if I mention that everything in the movie is so well placed, Script, Dialogues, Background-score, Songs everything is just perfect. Punjab's Culture have always been so rich and this movie just projected it in its true sense and nature. Comedy, Sweet innocent romance, Lovely songs inclusive of traditional Punjabi folk music, in short, a well packaged content almost for all ages. and in last, Actors! I must say, from now, I'm a big fan. A MUST WATCH!

It's a present for Punjabis..

Technically speaking, "Angrej" as a movie is one fine piece of art with a sound story and classic acting. Dialogues are sensibly drawn and screenplay is just dandyish.

however, the most astounding aspect of this film is that it is a very well researched movie on the vintage Punjabi culture which I must say has gone obsolete nowadays. For that, I would like to thank and congratulate the whole team of "Angrej", particularly, the writer and the director who I believe have contributed a great deal to the preservation of the Punjabi culture.

This movie is a gift for those who grew up listening to the legends of "Des" full of "Lok Geet" and the one who delves into Punjabi literature.

Worth Watching With Dada Abu and Nani Jan;-) (Grand Mother and Father)

Great Movie and Very Well Off the Camera work by the Director.

Movie Captures your right from the Start (at least it did so to me) and you just go with the flow, and Enjoy the an Excellent Story and Great Camera Work. Acting of Both Female leads is very very very Classy and the Male lead also is worth watching.

Punjabi Songs and ''Boliaan'' are very well sung and Beautifully adopted in Film.

Recommended Movie for a Family Eve with elders of the Family (Dada Dadi & Nana Nani).

Hats off to the Director and Whole Team.

Keep up the Good Work and Save our Beautiful Punjabi Traditions.

Delight to Watch ..... Don't miss this

After watching the initial trailer, I was looking forward to this movie. Was little bit fearful that the team might add typical masala or overdo things to spoil the fun but on the contrary no such thing happened and it turned out to be more than what I had expected.

Movie is set in an era before independence and captures the life of normal peoples as it used to be. you could straight away relate to those little nuances and etiquette's of the cast and fall in love with them. It beautifully captures the locale of that time with simple life, the way people talk and dress up. Cinematography was awesome.

Story was simple and did not had any unusual turns but still it keeps you engaged due to the way it is narrated. There are funny moments which doesn't seem forced but arise due to the general talks or behavior of characters. Songs are not forced, but seems like part of story and helps it move forward.

Acting wise everyone did there job sincerely, no over the top acts. Although everyone was good but Ammy Virk and Sargun Mehta stands out with there performance.

I have rated it 10, couldn't have wished more then what it delivered. Go and watch this delightful journey into the life of early 30's and 40's from the past century. This one is not to be missed.

Let me straight on point without wasting time of readers.I was traveling from Lahore to Sahiwal.Film was played on LCD inside Bus.Normally i do not watch during travel but this film was such a master piece which cant not be ignored.I came home, again download it and saw many times alone and with friends. The way director portray simplicity of Punjab before partition was totally beyond perfection.Acting and songs were also awesome.Sets and folk songs customs were shoot beautifully. My ancestors were from Indian Punjab if they were alive this film would had made them cry as it made me.It has all elements what a beautiful film needs.Dialogues were simple and hilarious.and Binnu Dhillon always shine like star also Amrinder proved him self very good actor . Every Punjabi no matter he is from this side of border or other must watch this. This is truly KOH e NOOR of Punjabi cinema.I wish they will be another part with same casting and story line. This film just made my day.Hats off. One of the best Punjabi movie.

Finally somebody broke the monotony of comedy movies in Punjabi cinema and made something really good. Story and screenplay is outstanding, it's kind of those movie which leave it's impression. Amrinder Gill & Sargun did a great job, most interesting part is watching Ammy Virk making his debut in Punjabi cinema which very good acting. Trust me, everybody should watch it. I'm sure it will be a good package what everyone expects from a movie. Generally only big budget movies have such combination of entertainment. But, Angrej broke that thing and showed us even Punjabi cinema can make movies like this. Good job everyone. Keep it up. Looking forward to see more movies like this in our Punjabi cinema. Thank you.

Best Punjabi movie EVER on true Punjabi culture!

This is my first ever review on IMDb....I was literally forced into registering into an IMDb account as I HAD to write a short recommendation for this movie.

In short this movie is SIMPLY OUTSTANDING and probably ONE OF THE BEST (if not the best) Punjabi movie showing true Punjabi culture!

MUST WATCH with kids esp if you are a Punjabi, to let them know of the background that we come from. Hats off to the producers and the directors for bringing out this masterpiece. Acting is brilliant and songs are awesome. I normally skip songs in most of my movies as I find them useless and meaningless most of the time...But for this movie, I watched the movie at least 4 times just to enjoy the music and songs!

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!

A love story made with pure emotion

Punjabi films have a unique way of telling stories that are raw, grounded, and deeply connected to the culture, effortlessly blending the old with the new. They have a way of portraying a culture that, though often neglected, still manages to showcase the modern, evolving spirit of the people. Similarly, this film is a perfect example of this, and it left me truly impressed by how it so beautifully navigates the blend of tradition and contemporary narrative.

What I didn't initially know was that this film introduced several fresh talents in acting, many of whom have now become major stars in the industry like Ammy Virk, Sargun Mehta, etc. It was amazing to watch them in their early roles, and it was a testament to how the film industry is constantly nurturing new talent, paving the way for future stars.

The film's sets are another standout feature. The attention to detail is incredible. The film is set in pre-independence India, and the way the sets are designed truly transports you back to that era. From the costumes to the architecture and even the smallest props, everything feels authentic to the time period, enhancing the entire viewing experience.

Now, the acting, absolutely phenomenal. The four main leads of this film gave such natural performances. This is something I really appreciate about Punjabi films: there's a restraint to the expressiveness, yet each actor manages to convey so much with their subtlety. There's no forced drama or over-the-top emotional outbursts, everything feels real, genuine, and perfectly in tune with the narrative.

Even in 2025, watching this film still connects me with its timeless storytelling. It's a film that stays relevant, making us reflect on relationships, love, and the changing tides of history, while feeling deeply rooted in the cultural fabric of Punjab. It's a must-watch for anyone who enjoys a film that is both entertaining and deeply moving, bridging generations and emotions effortlessly.

Highly Recommended - Love from Pakistan

Story 10 out of 10 ,

Acting 11 out of 10 ,

Music 9 out of 10

I am writing this review but literally i have no words to explain the beauty and depth of this picture. Only people from Punjab(both India and Pakistan) or who knows PUNJABI can understand the importance and beauty of this picture. Each and every detail is being taken care of.

I belong to a Punjabi family and i want to share that my family has watched this movie for more than 20 times. The presentation of culture is very very realistic and seems like daily life. This movie is the best Punjabi movie I've ever seen. Such a unique movie!

Hats off to every single person who worked on this project.

We need a sequel or at least a movie like this. Please !

Really one of the best Punjabi movies describing real essence of Punjabi culture

I am from Punjab Pakistan and have close observation of Punjabi culture. I heard about this movie from a friend and he insisted me to watch this movie. I didn't believe that such a masterpiece can be presented in a very light and original way.

I started watching this movie and it grabbed my whole attention and didn't let me divert my attention for single minute till the end of this movie. Our Sikh brothers have presented a very true culture of Punjab and it has not only revealed but also revived our Punjabi culture. I thank to the characters and director of this movie for providing such a master piece.

Lot of Love from Pakistani guys who are looking forward to see more such great movies like this. Wish you all the best!!

A Must See!!

Absolutely loved the movie! This is a must see for every Punjabi. I honestly did not expect to this much out of this movie. Its a relief from all the crappy comedy movies being produced lately. The movie has everything comedy, drama, it does an excellent job promoting our language, our culture, the virsa of punjab. All of the character did an excellent job, my favorite character was Aslam, played by Binnu Dhillion. Ammy Virk also did a great job playing the role of Hakkam, loved his lahori punjabi. The music of the movie was also fantastic, all of the songs were great, loved old style boliyan. This movie is an absolute treasure! I recommend everything to watch this movie with your family.

Wonderful Movie !! Best to watch this with entire family ..

The best thing I feel about this movie is that it is a period movie and director has done full justice with it by showing each and every single thing in a period view like it was back in 50's. e.g utensils used in the movies, transportation resources like horse and cycles, lanterns, bull-carts, oil lamps, houses, etc.

Wonderful Movie with Excellent Story line, Superb Performances, Joyful songs and at last but not least great Direction. We need more movies of this kind with neat and clean comedy, which you can watch and enjoy with your family. Each and every actor/actress in this movie has given his/her beat performance till now. I salute to the director of this movie "Simerjit Singh" for best possible execution of the story line and utilizing each actor so gracefully.

I am expecting more movies of this kind in future.

Amazing display of simplicity, love, respect and humor

I am a punjabi from Pakistan and i am a huge fan of movies. I have watched countless movies in my life and never wrote a review but after watching this movie so many times I could not stop myself to write down my feelings about this awesome movie. Whenever I start watching it I actually reach in that era. This movie has become my all-time favorite.

Everyone did a fabulous job starting from writer Amberdeep Singh, director Simerjit Singh to all the cast and crew. The ambiance of the movie created by its director along with DOP is remarkable. The mood of the film gives feel of the time before partition.

Every actor performed extremely well in the movie. Amrinder Singh plays the part naturally as he belongs to that era. He gets into the skin of his character and gives a credible performance. Ammy virk as hakkam is the surprise package of the movie. Aditi sharma looks good in the movie and essays her part with perfection. Binnu dhillon as Aslam is adorable. He essays the role of a true friend and adds the humor quotient in the movie. Anita Devgan as the mother of Angrej plays her part naturally and looks like a true punjabi mother and above all Dhan Kaur (Sargun Mehta) the soul of the film, she was made for this role. Sargun Mehta was awesome, her acting, expressions, dressing style, accent, everything she did was fabulous. I have watched this movie so many times just because of sargun Mehta. She looks beautiful, stunning, and confidant. Lots of Love.

Thank you for keeping the Punjabi cinema alive!

This is the most simple and beautiful Punjabi movie I have ever watched. The set was so natural and dialogues were sweet. I don't have words to describe it. I actually paused the movie many times to see the details in the raw beauty of villages, re-winded to listen the dialogues again, and so lost in that I couldn't follow the story properly.

It shows the 1940s rural Punjab which was not very different from today's Punjab, except it was more beautiful. The depiction of village life and their simple problems was very accurate. Every character of the movie had a beautiful Punjabi accent and a sweet story to tell, I can listen to every one of them for days. Absolutely loved everything.

Thank you very much for making this.

Love from a Pakistani!

A masterpiece with the charm of pre-independence era romance.

Forced myself in registering on the IMDb to write a review. I have already watched this movie thrice and planning to watch few more times. Loved the movie, it's a masterpiece. I love watching punjabi movies, this is by far the best movie I have ever watched. Heard about the sequel coming soon, can't wait for that. The way movie portrays pre-independence punjab is amazing. Movie gives a lot of knowledge about punjabi culture back in the days. My late grand parents migrated from lahore to Delhi after independence, I wish they were alive and I would have watched this movie with them, they would have loved this movie. The movie shows how sikhs and muslims lived in peace and harmony back in days and punjab was so peaceful and happy. I wish to see the same peace and harmony between India and Pakistan.

Excellent Movie script, actors, roles, direction and everything perfect. I usually watch only Hollywood, Bollywood movies. But after watching "Love Punjab" as my first Punjabi movie, I decided to watch this movie of Amrinder gill, Sargun Mehta and my goodness, it was just awesome. I am short of words for the praise but I can tell you, there was not a single moment in the film that can be left, every small details, scene was awesome.

Thanks to the whole team for such a lovely film and Wish you all the very best for your future projects.

Probably the best family movie in recent times

Had this movie been in some other high profile industry like Hollywood, it would have surely won an Oscar. If you're a Punjabi or can comprehend the Punjabi language and you're looking not to waste your time by watching any ABC movie then this one is for you. Probably the best family movie of the Punjabi film industry.

The film has rightly depicted the rural Punjab of the pre-independence era. Amrindar Gill was just perfect for the main character of "Angrej" whereas Binnu Dhillon also added a great deal of comedy as "Aslam". In short, if I had to describe the film in just 3 words, i would have said "A MUST WATCH".
