Bob Monkhouse was one of those celebrities you either loved or hated.I fall in the later camp.His charm is at times squirm making.This is very much to the fore in this film. Basically it uses a lot of clips of silent film and links them together with Monkhouse's narrative.Now Monkhouse was well known for his love of the silent cinema and had a large film collection.He actually landed up in court because of it but was acquitted of the charges. These sort of compilations were quite common at the time.Remember that the silent cinema was barely more than 30 years past.However this compilation does not compare with the far superior ones from Robert Youngson.
