Marcus Jansen, the artist, gets it. His work and his voice speak clearly; emanating through his own feelings and emotions. The title of the work, "Examine and Report", might more accurately be "Observe, Feel and Let Fly" unless the director was trying to be sarcastic. It is possible Marcus would be just as successful an artist if he were not ex-military. Whose life is not a battle? I agree with the reviewer (1 star) who could not abide the blonde. She speaks an academic language of history and criticism, which ironically have little to do with art and artist. Read Otto Rank's "Art and Artist" for what are still the wisest of words on the matter. It was a personal publishing project of Alfred Knopf during the 1930s. Also read Otto Rank's biography by E. James Lieberman, MD, as well as all the works of Otto Rank; doing so will allow you to effortlessly tune-out the academic and give this wonderful piece the five stars it deserves. Bravo Marcus Jansen. We need many more of you.
