A sequel / continuations of 1995's Mr. Show, w/Bob and David picks up where the sketch series left off, more sketches, but now with slightly older actors. Its only 4 episodes, and honestly doesn't bring much the original didn't. Like its okay, but only had a couple laugh out loud moments, otherwise was mostly vague commentary guised as meh comedy. There's also an hour long "behind the scenes / making of" episode which is as long as half of the series itself. If you liked the original definitely give this a watch, if you haven't seen the original, just watch that.
I understand that Better Call Saul is still airing so Bob doesn't really have time to focus on anything else, but if they do find some they should really produce more seasons of this, it's a great show!!!
What's fun about "W/ Bob & David" is the continuity with the old "Mr. Show". It adheres to the same comedic and production standards; and those standards were notably rough-hewn, seat-of-the-pants, cannabis-fueled, and naturally good-naturedly begged your indulgence while it sang and danced and mugged its way into your heart. I gladly granted that indulgence and in return reaped a modest collection of smiles, laughs, and even the occasional thigh-slap.
Well, actually, more than merely adhering, this new incarnation of Bob and David improves on those standards a bit. The writing is at least as good, and the production values have definitely improved.
It's great to see the old gang back together again! Looks like Johnston lost a little weight (from his S. Silverman Program days) to be able to make the same physical impression as of yore. Ennis is a fantastic talent, great to see again. Well, I'm not here to rattle off the roster. Trust me that the old gang serves the cause with the dependable aplomb.
All that said, I fully understand that all this is hedged 'round by an audience reality: Most folks don't care a whit about the above. They want a sketch show that zings and tickles again and again and again. Key & Peele comes to mind as a counter example: In spite of its general experimental, over-the-edge sensibility it actually rarely missed in its goal to astound, amuse, and entertain, with every sketch. W/ Bob & David, like its predecessor, is honestly a bit scattershot. For some of us, that's part of its charm. If you're like-minded, W/ Bob & David will work for you. Otherwise, you may well be wondering what the fuss (such as it is) is about.

If you only know Bob from Breaking Bad and David from Arrested Development you are clearly not a fan of comedy and have no business reviewing this show.Bob Odenkirk was a writer for SNL, David Letterman and Get a Life. He created Tenacious D and has written, directed, produced and starred in most of Tim and Eric's work and tons of other Adult Swim shows. He is a comedy god and he never even saw Breaking Bad before he was on it(Google it).If you watched this show because of Breaking Bad you're a mental midget who should have his internet privileges suspended. For those who have brains, this show is an awesome reincarnation of Mr. Show. It's sketch comedy for smart people who like to laugh. Most people won't get it because SNL has tricked people into believing that sketch comedy is just supposed to be the same unfunny recurring characters and prerecorded "songs".This show(and Mr. Show) never did lame jokes about politics that make a show almost unwatchable after a few months.Eight-teen years after Mr. Show you can still watch it and not know that it's old. This show will be the same way.A true timeless comedy classic. If you're just a Saul fan don't bother with this show.It is far beyond anything you can comprehend.
Laugh track, Bad jokes, and Poorly executed jokes
These are all done on purpose and that doesn't make it good. If a bad movie knows it's a bad movie, that doesn't make it a good movie.
This show feels like they dug into a dumpster and found a folder containing all the rejected skits from Saturday Night Live and that does not make it funny.
If you're one of the people that can laugh at bad movies like Scary Movie or Sharknado, this might be something you'd enjoy.
I, for one, am tired of shows selling off the idea of "we're lazy and that's why it's good!" to the simple-minded who accept bad writing because it makes them laugh.
