Was looking forward to season 2. Ive seen several Russian series on NFLX was never aware they made such good ones (Road to Calgary, Trotsky). This one flows really well, quirky characters and situations at times but highly recommend it. As someone else pointed out never realized the 60s Soviet Union could be so exciting, lol
Just saw the season on Netflix. As other reviewers said it was refreshing to see a Russian production that wasn't gloomy. Very enjoyable to watch the whole season. The characters could have used a little work to develop but first seasons are usually a little weak. Would have loved to have seen more.
Just finished watching this on Netflix. The pace of the show was energetic, the characters were fairly well-developed and it was refreshing to see a show that takes place in the old Soviet Union without it being freezing cold with dark lighting the whole time.
There appeared to plenty of potential material for there to have been a season 2 of the show, so it's a bit of a shame to see it only lasted one season.

Like many reviewers here have pointed out, this TV show presents the life in Soviet Union in a totally different way. Here we see a country which is sunny and colorful with characters which can be related to people in any other country. At first I thought this could be a propaganda funded by the current Russian government but it also showed the corruption and bureaucracy prevailed during the communist rule. This is vastly different from typical gloomy and melancholic Hollywood depiction of this country.
I started this series as a Russian learner before spending time in Russia and did not have the highest expectations. Yet having watched it I can confidently say that even for a non-Russian speaker this is a fantastic series. Absolutely loved it
