Watched this movie after a friend's recommendation. The film is about a materialistic guy (Subramanyam) who meets his old school friend and then goes on a path of self-discovery to answer the complex philosophical question "Who he really is" (hence "Yevade Subramanyam") . Despite the clichés at multiple places and also a "Gamyam" like feel, the cast, screenplay and the beautiful locations make this film an amazing experience to watch. Nani was able to effectively portray a character that starts as annoying and shallow and then transforms into someone with whom you can relate to. Nani has been picking some real good scripts and trying some worthy experiments. Kudos to him. Malvika Nair lends an able support with an author-backed role. Though she is a newcomer and this is her first film, her mature performance should surely bring her many laurels. Vijay Devarakonda shines in a small but significant role. The music is fine and the cinematography is awesome (especially the dudh-kashi sequence). This is a rocking start for debutant director Nag Ashwin who must be commended for taking a philosophical theme but did not make it boring and I will surely look forward for his work in future. Although it will be a great mistake to compare this film with other classic films (Motorcycle diaries for e.g.), it is still a mighty attempt. In the mess of larger than life "hero" - 5 songs - big family - 5 fights - 5 comedy tracks formulaic and intolerable films, such films are a breath of fresh air. One of the best films of 2015 in my list so far. Go watch it !!

Set with a goal, appeasing his boss for promotion, buying him shares which are not even near picayune or easily obtainable, getting engaged with his daughter, Subramanyam, in his thought process- achieving goals, being rich, having a reputable status and being famous as the only reason and way of life, is a near successful industrialist who is always, at the end of the day, the man of laud at his office.
Rishi, having a thought process which is the binary opposite of his best friend, has always envisioned life as something very valuable and precious. "Not to be wasted on petty things.", he says, "If one day people ask me when was the last time I really enjoyed, I make sure I can tell them it was the right last moment."
Slow paced, tawdry scenes in the first half exist which make you think it's a lackluster but the brilliantly crafted scenes putting you in complete amazement and bliss make you rethink your words. Blending phenomenal music and some of the best character development into play, an engaging cast with direction and execution done aright, Yevade Subramanyam though falling flat in some parts of its first half, shines as something very beautiful and thought provoking for the remnant as it becomes from a story of two best friends of opposite thoughts to a journey of introspection, change and self discovery.

This is the gist of one's life. Movies like this should be played in schools, of course we have other things that is just for our knowledge. Never know when we will die, why should one sacrifice the real and actual happiness for a future we don't know if it exists or not. The movie conveys this message in a clear cut way and the cast did well to bring the ideology to audience in a perfect way. Finally thanks for giving us such a movie to all of them who worked for this movie.

Being a Fan of Nani Sir and Vijay, I kept a lot expectation from this movie. The synopsis is very intriguing but somehow not portrayed well. Scenes were magical but character building is very disappointing. It seems they have forcefully put scenes in between. Rishi reminds me of Hrithik Roshan from "Main Prem Ki Deewani Hu" - Too much enthusiasm.
This script can be turned into cult classic movie if interpreted bit deeply.

I wondered after watching this magnificent self realization movie. Especially director nagi, he's really amazing..In the early stage and that too first movie with such a subject succeeded in carrying the soul throughout the movie. Rarely such connect or feeling happens to viewers. Undoubtedly this an unconventional break through film shown an entirely different path to Telugu film industry. All the actors did a fantastic job. Wonderful movie. Thank you so much Naagi!

I expected that this movie would be interesting as overall Imdb rating is high but disappointed after watching it.
Negatives: screenplay, execution, Rishi's character, female lead character. These characters are not clear, the second half is slow and lagging. And the philosophy of rishi is not explained clearly.
Positives: Nani's acting, story, cinematography.
