I have watched this movie over and over. The acting by the characters is very good and the writing team did a great job. Just like all of the other movies, this one does not disappoint. I love the characters of grandpa and granddaughter especially. I wish everyone could get along and at least try to coexist with each other, especially families. Very relaxing and entertaining movie for the whole family. Even the little ones could learn a lesson or two from this one. Try to see which character you are and see what you could change in your life to make any of your relationships better. I try to be the best person I can be but realized I have a few things to work on. Kind of makes you appreciate people more while they're here. The movie was a joy to watch.
From the beginning to end the film is amazing. There is no other way to put it. You get a feel right away how much heart and soul was poured into making this nearly a decade old project come to life! The leads were drenched with professionalism! Full of friendly and very funny laughable moments! Highly recommend anyone and everyone to watch this film! I can assure you will not be disappointed!
This is another great film from the mother and son filmmaking team in the Wabash Valley. They premiered this rom-com at a local church and it was open to the public so I attended with some close friends. We all loved it. We literally laughed out loud, but there were times in which we cried too (which makes the best kind of movie!) Bonus: They got an acting icon to make an appearance in the film. He also spent hours on the red carpet, meeting and greeting with guests, signing autographs and posing for photos with everyone before the premiere. Even he (Ken Kercheval) loved the movie. I heard him say so with my own ears after the lights came back on and before an award ceremony was held.
Being from the town in which this film was made, it was a real treat to see film locations that we recognized. The lead actors had so much chemistry which made the film very fun to watch. I tried to put myself in "Mackenzie's" place and tried to imagine what it would be like if my grandfather had pulled the shenanigans that Grandpa Miller pulled on his granddaughter.
The comedy in this film was hilarious but clean, which I appreciated. I can watch this film with a group of family members and never feel ashamed or uncomfortable.
Bruce Royer was adorable as the mischievous Grandpa Miller and he is worthy of a best acting award, or at the very least, a nomination, in my opinion. Beautiful scores, realistic writing, funny actors and great cinematography make this independent film (which BTW doesn't look or feel independent at all) make this a MUST SEE movie. It would make a great "first date" movie to see!

A very promising film that should appeal to any teenager/young adult child, parent or grandparent. All will find a character that they can relate. Humor, heart break,
embarrassment, fear, love and forgiveness abound. In addition to a great escape, I think every film is a silent teacher. Here, there is a clear message that a promise is both a sacred social contract and a self-imposed prison. Second, is a solid reminder that while love is great it requires some work. I want to say in closing that it has been an honor to watch the caliber of this company's productions improve.
I loved this movie! I loved the storyline and the actors did a great job! This family friendly film is very funny and very heartwarming. This film teaches you about the relationship between a grandpa and granddaughter. How much love a grandpa has for his granddaughter and has her best interest at heart even if he is a little mischievous , lol.
This comedy film is very funny and relatable to what actually happens in real life. The writer did a fantastic job telling this story. The producers and cinematographer did a wonderful job putting this together. I know it takes a lot of work and this film was done very well.

- TriviaTHE PROMISE was actually first filmed in Clinton, Indiana between March and September of 2012 under the title of "This Promise I Made" However, the first director and DP (one and the same), along with an additional camera man wanted to add in a nude shower scene for the 23 year old leading lady.
When Executive Producer (and Screenwriter) Candy J. Beard quickly refused the request, He told her that without a nude shower scene, the movie would never see the light of day. She dismissed his words and they continued filming. But little did she know that the director was secretly sabotaging the film, both visually and the audio. He kept the video files from Candy until filming was over.
Once Candy became aware of the sabotaged project, she filed a lawsuit to hold him responsible and tried to get her lost $20K film budget back. Sadly, however, three years later, after still never getting her day in court, Candy decided to drop the lawsuit and simply move on, for her own peace of mind.
She then changed the title of the film, did a re-cast of almost all of the actors and reached out to her friend, Ken Kercheval (formally of DALLAS) to ask him if he would return and re-shoot his scenes. Of course he said yes. The film, with its new title, new cast, an incredible new (and trustworthy Director, DP and Editor all in one) and a new film location (Terre Haute, IN) began production for the second time in June 2016 and wrapped up exactly one year later.
