Not too bad for a new Ghost Show. Should be called Portal Chasers!

This ghost shows something new and slightly different. Nick Groff from Ghost Adventures basically runs this show so it seems to be fairly well run by an experienced Ghost host. I gave this show a solid 7 because Nicks experience and showmanship is shine through here. Ghost Stalkers, the name itself seems to be a bit lame as far as names go. That being said the show itself seems fairly well done. There are two gentleman on the show and one of them "Chad" has a lot of acting experience having been on Crimnal Minds, X-Files, Buffy, Supernatural and many other shows as a supporting actor. The fact that he is an actor makes me wonder if he is acting on the show as opposed to offering up real life experiences. The locations they visit on the show seem to be unique which is a nice touch. The experiences and investigations seem genuine and scary which is what the viewers want. I think that anyone who enjoys watching Ghost Adventures should find viewing this show pleasurable as well. Fans of Nick Groff won't see him this show as he is now behind the cameras as opposed to being in front. 7/10 worth a watch!

    Pathetic mockery

I've had the misfortune of catching 3 episodes of this on TV. This is just painful to watch to any paranormal fanatic worth their salt.

They contaminate their own video with camera-mounted flashlights, causing most of the hand-held footage to just be a massive glare with the audio of them reaction to a "spooky ghost". Their constant talk about portals will drive anyone to switch the channel before they join the ranks of the ghosts these dorks are "hunting" out of sheer boredom.

They rarely catch any evidence on camera, which are more often aimed to capture the reaction of the investigator to a supposed haunt than anything else, and when they do they don't bother trying to debunk it. It's just accepted as paranormal. The multiple camera angles to their overreactions suggest they've got a multi-camera crew following them at all times. Which will contaminate each other's footage at the slightest miscoordination.

One of them, I think Chad is his name. Squeels like a schoolgirl at the slightest noise, writhing and twitching like he's on fire at an unexpected breeze. Contaminating the audio and video and just generally making a complete fool of himself. Using a disgustingly monotone voice to narrate why he's peeing himself THIS time.

When I saw Nick Groff helped produce this, I had high hopes because of his history with Ghost Adventures. Those hopes were quickly and brutally dashed once I saw the first episode.

Do yourself a favor and give this parody a miss, it is not worth your time.

Terrible name, so-so reality show within the genre.

Ghost Stalkers ... terrible name. But for the most part this genre of reality filmmaking hasn't set itself apart by having good copyrighters.

For the most part Ghost Stalkers is an alright show compared to it's peers (like for instans Ghost Adventures, Ghost Asylum etc.). Unfortunately GS exhibit the same latent problems that most of the genre exhibit and a few original.

The hosts of Ghost Stalkers had probably looked at the marked of ghost hunting shows before pitching their idea for a show, and concluded that they had to have some kind of schtick to sell it. That schtick is all to obviously an incredible focus on (ghost) portals. This quickly becomes a huge weight on the show as the hosts keep trying to pigeonhole everything (and I do mean everything) into some kind of portal theory. "Some people say they have ghosts here. There must be portals as well." "This was once a big hospital. Then there's definitely portals here." "There's rumors of shadow people. A portal started those rumors." "Somebody snatched my sandwich. That darned portal again." "This dude died? Hey, it must've been a portal who did it." "Look a rock. And it is right under a portal ... maybe."

Most of these ghost shows are terrible in their rhetoric. Whenever they see something it is demonic in an effort to amp up the drama factor. Whenever they talk to "witnesses", they put words in their mouths and so on. Historic records and witness statements are overdramatized, for instance: "There have been sighting of a shadow man. A possibly violent shadow man". But Ghost Stalkers are probably some of the worst at it. Mostly because they have this portal concept they simply have to sell. So whenever they try to conclude anything. It always end up in some ridiculous explanations of lapsed logic about portals.

They try to be "scientific", but with pages taken from the other ghost hunting shows the science involved is kept to a modicum (and I'm being generous here). For the most part they just pull some real equipment in and try to "explain" why the equipment should work with their mission in mind. For instance at one point they put a smokemachine into a room and when the smoke twists a little, they conclude they have a portal.

There's other problems too, the biggest on is the voice-over (done by one of the hosts) that tries to go for some sort of eerie monotone vibe. It doesn't work. It just sounds ridiculous.

Ghost Stalkers has a lot of shortcomings but at least it doesn't have to fill it's running time with recreations and unnecessary horror cuts, to try and make up for little substance. Even though it isn't overflowing with substance.

A long story short. Ghost Stalkers is an alright ghost hunting shows. If you've run out of everything else in that department then it is fair enough viewing. Just don't expect any miracles from it.

Ghost Stalkers; because Portal Seekers wasn't as catchy of a title

When I heard about the new series called Ghost Stalkers I was thinking that it was gonna be people with no fear aggressively seeking out for ghosts

But that's really not what this is, actor Chad Linberg who was excellent in the remake for I SPIT YOUR GRAVE I guess got a thirst for more after guest appearing in one episode of GHOST ADVENTURES where the producer and creator of the show; Nick Groff was one of the hosts.

The biggest problem with Ghost Stalkers is that the hosts Chad and John doesn't seem to have much of a desire to connect with the supposed ghosts on a personal level and are far more interested in finding portals which they (primarily John I get the impression of) believe allows the ghosts to walk into our world.

In most episodes they mention the word portal more than they do ghosts, which is bizarre and also annoying and they have some stupid experiments trying to prove that these portals exists, appearantly if you put a smoke machine on and the smoke goes in a circular motion that is proof of a portal to another dimension.

Okay then, maybe you want to try to prove that there is another dimension first or at the very least ghosts before you start trying to prove how they get here.

That's like me trying to prove that God eats goats for breakfast because a number of goats always mysteriously disappear each morning around the world but not proving that God exists in the first place.

They don't manage to gather a lot of evidence either (I don't consider Chad screaming like crazy and jumping up and down to every pop in a building evidence), if any, tbh a lot of the "evidence" they get seems faked like the 8 feet caricature man walking from one side to the other in episode 3 and the door closing in episode 4.

In my opinion I they looked CGI'd, I can't say without certainty that they are, I hope not as I like Nick Groff and Chad Lindberg seem like a nice guy but it does.

No I'd suggest you watch GHOST ADVENTURES instead, or maybe PARANORMAL STATE or GHOST HUNTERS...

    Really?

I'm a huge fan of factual paranormal shows, and having been watching them for almost 14 years now I like to think I'm at least somewhat competent enough to detect fakes from the real thing. I had somewhat high expectations from the show, given it is Nick Groff's creation, I very much enjoyed him in the Ghost Adventures series and saw no reason to think he'd ever really fake anything. However it really let me down. The constant monotone from everyone involved in this show is very overused and incredibly dull, they really overdramatize absolutely everything and it's hard to believe anything Chad says. The red flag for him was thrown up when it comes to light that he's a relatively well known actor, so there's not a lot of room for belief when it comes to whatever is happening around him, and the overly loud supposed EVPs they receive every other session are downright laughable.

Also, I've never seen nor heard anything about tracking paranormal portals, it'd be nice if the equipment they were using was explained because I don't understand it at all.
