‘Starfleet Command’ Teaser, a ‘Khan’ Audio Series, and Puppets: The Future of ‘Star Trek’ Is Here
Image
The future of “Star Trek” is here and it truly is boldly going to some new and undiscovered places. (Check out our ranking of every “Star Trek” live-action show). The message from Paramount+’s presentation for the franchise July 26 at San Diego Comic-Con’s Hall H isn’t boundary- and format-pushing alone: It’s clear that they want to package new things with some heavy doses of the familiar — major stars, beloved returning franchise vets, and some cutesy gimmicks.

Take a look at the teaser for “Star Trek: Starfleet Academy.”

There are a ton of new faces there for the 32nd Century-set show, as much of the cast is teenage and 20-something newcomers. And it’s set in a time period, post-“Star Trek: Discovery” that allows for all-new storytelling completely unrestrained by preexisting canon. But that’s also a lot of unfamiliar stuff, and audiences can need a little...

‘Paradise’: Sterling K. Brown & Creator Dan Fogelman Preview Xavier’s Search for His Wife in Season 2
Image
Production on the second season of Hulu’s breakthrough apocalyptic political drama Paradise is underway, with just two weeks left. However, creator Dan Fogelman and Emmy-nominated star and executive producer Sterling K. Brown took time away from the set to stop in for San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday (July 26). The duo spoke to a select group of press about what to expect from Paradise Season 2, and while they couldn’t divulge too many details, the duo lifted the veil on what to expect. For example, Season 1 was split between two timelines, revealing the course of events that transpired before and after a catastrophic disaster essentially ended the world. Season 2, Fogelman told TV Insider, will have a similar two-dimensional track; this time, it’ll be between what’s happening inside and outside of the dome, as Xavier Collins (Brown) ventures outside to find his wife, Teri (Enuka Okuma), and those still...

Star Trek fans may have said goodbye to two of the Paramount+ series in the franchise in the last two years (Picard in 2023, Discovery in 2024), but there are new additions still to come. How Adam Sandler Paid Tribute to the Late Cameron Boyce in ‘Happy Gilmore 2’
Image
While Happy Gilmore 2 pays tribute to several late celebrities, Adam Sandler also made sure to honor his former onscreen son, Cameron Boyce. Following the Netflix film’s release on Friday, July 25, eagle-eyed fans spotted footage of Boyce in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameo. Upon being urged to return to golf to earn money for his daughter’s ballet school tuition, Happy (Sandler) heads to a golf course to refresh his skills. During the scene, Happy walks up to a check-in desk where two employees can be seen watching what appears to be an episode of the Disney Channel series Jessie on a TV. On the screen, Boyce’s character is seen using binoculars. Boyce famously starred as Luke Ross on all four seasons of Jessie from 2011 to 2015. Jamie Lee Curtis’ ‘Murder, She Wrote’ Reboot Is Happening, and 2025 Is the Perfect Time for Jessica Fletcher
Image
Last year, Deadline reported that Oscar-winner Jamie Lee Curtis was prepping to fill the late legend Angela Lansbury’s shoes in a new version of “Murder, She Wrote,” the beloved ’80s and ’90s series that saw mystery novelist Jessica Fletcher (Lansbury) tracking down murderers in the sleepy Maine hamlet of Cabot Cove, as well as in her globe-trotting travels (courtesy of the Universal Studios backlot).

At the “Freakier Friday” premiere, Curtis confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that the project is still on the way, in a dramatic fashion: “Oh, it’s…,” employs pregnant pause and dramatic facial expressions, “happening.”

“We’re a minute away. But, yeah, very excited, very excited. But I’m, you know, tamping down my enthusiasm until we start shooting,” she added. “I have a couple other things to hustle and then, then I’ll get to enjoy that work.”

This isn’t the first attempt at remaking the long-running series.

‘Interview With the Vampire’ Team on Frankee & Eamon-Inspired Louis & Lestat in Season 3 (Video)
Image
“F**k you, you ho. I don’t want you back.” One of the most explicit, cathartic, messy breakup songs of the early 2000s, plus its musical response that has just as much bite, are the song references Jacob Anderson uses to describe how rockstar Lestat’s music impacts Louis and Lestat’s relationship in Interview With the Vampire Season 3, premiering in 2026 on AMC. Sitting between Sam Reid and their costar, Eric Bogosian, in TV Insider and TV Guide Magazine’s San Diego Comic-Con 2025 studio on July 25, Anderson brings up the iconically profane R&b track Eamon released as his debut single in 2003, “F**k It (I Don’t Want You Back).” In 2004, Frankee released an equally iconic response song, “F.U.R.B. How Stephen Colbert Has Pushed Back Against CBS with the Help of His Late Night Peers
Image
If you’re not watching “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” right now, you’re missing appointment television. To say the gloves have come off since Colbert’s cancellation announcement last week would be a gross understatement. Not that Colbert really ever held back on his opinions, but a host scorned hath more fury.

On Thursday, July 24, he even introduced a monologue cut-away segment “Show Un-Cancelled.” Of course, that announcement turns out to be a fake-out — and the graphic used for it supposedly cost $40 million. That one’s light hearted — no more scathing than what “Arrested Development” threw down in its last season on Fox (anyone old enough to remember that reference?). Throughout the first week of shows as a fallen angel, however, Colbert repeatedly seemed to play chicken with his network, CBS, and its parent company, Paramount, which just got the Ok from the Trump Justice Department for a...

In the post’s caption, the production noted that Winfrey got “special permission” to do so, as filming of any kind is normally prohibited at Broadway shows. As fans saw in the previously released teaser for Season 8, which was shown at the panel presentation, Jamie’s life hangs in the balance when a book written by Claire’s first husband, Frank (Tobias Menzies), states as much. Theorizing about the validity of Frank’s claims, published posthumously, seems to be Season 8’s big conundrum. Then again, it could be a misdirect as Claire came to the...

His Cleonic Dynasty is going to end in months, but he couldn’t really care less about that. Former ‘E! News’ Host Lilliana Vazquez Says She’s ‘Not Surprised’ by Show’s Cancellation
Image
While some fans were surprised by the cancellation of E! News after 34 years on the air, former host Lilliana Vazquez was not. “No, I’m not surprised,” Vazquez shared in a Friday, July 25, TikTok post. She went on to call herself the “shortest tenured host at E! News,” having left the network in 2021 after her brief time hosting the entertainment news show. “I signed on in December of 2019 and hosted it through March of 2020, and if you dare to remember what happened in March of 2020, our show went off the air with me as the host because of the pandemic,” she explained. “And when it came back, it came back in a very different form, and I was no longer with the network.” For Vazquez, the “writing was on the wall for the show” when she took over as host, having only chosen to do so after the series decided...

David Letterman Issues Bold Takedown of CBS for Canceling ‘The Late Show’
Image
David Letterman just issued a bold takedown of CBS for canceling The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. On July 25, Letterman weighed in on the network’s decision to end Stephen Colbert’s show in May 2026 in a video published on the Letterman YouTube channel. “I don’t think it was money,” he told host Barbara Gaines, who worked as an executive producer on The Late Show with David Letterman. “This is pure cowardice.” “It’s all very strange. It was a bit of a surprise,” Letterman, 78, who hosted The Late Show from 1993 to 2015, admitted. “10 years ago, I quit and left. And then Stephen Colbert comes along, and pretty quickly established himself as a precise, crisp, witty political satirist. And often his target has been the current administration,” he continued. “Based on that and just the overall entertainment quota of the show, drew a great audience and people became not addicted...

David Letterman Blasts CBS and Skydance on ‘The Late Show With Stephen Colbert’ Cancellation: ‘This Is Pure Cowardice’
Image
David Letterman unloaded on CBS and Skydance on Friday for cancelling “The Late Show,” which he launched 32 years ago, saying the network had mistreated his successor, Stephen Colbert.

In an interview posted to his YouTube channel, Letterman said he does not buy the official explanation that the show was cancelled for financial reasons.

“This is pure cowardice,” Letterman said. “They did not do the correct thing. They did not handle Stephen Colbert — the face of that network — in the way he deserves to have been handled.”

Letterman offered his first comments on the cancellation in a Zoom interview with Barbara Gaines,...

It was a brief teaser, packed with tons of superhero violence and gore — as fans of “The Boys” have come to expect — and quick looks at the new and returning cast members.

Stephen Colbert Hails ‘South Park’ Premiere’s Naked Trump as ‘Important Message of Hope for Our Times’
Image
Stephen Colbert took a moment during his “Late Show” monologue Thursday evening to praise his fellow comedians in the Paramount family, highlighting the “South Park” season premiere’s use of AI-generated footage that depicted President Trump stripping nude in the desert.

Colbert introduced the clip by highlighting Trump’s recent signing of an AI-related executive order, which states that the federal government “should be hesitant to regulate AI models in the private marketplace.”

“I completely agree with him on this one, because, if the government interfered with private AI, innovators at ‘South Park’ wouldn’t be able to make important videos like this one,...

Gen V Season 2 Trailer Reveals Ethan Slater’s Casting, Starlight’s Mission for Marie and a Chance Perdomo Tribute
Image
A familiar face is welcoming Gen V back to Prime Video for its long-awaited second season, premiering on Wednesday, Sept. 17 with the first three episodes.

As just revealed at San Diego Comic-Con, the trailer for Season 2 kicks off with Starlight (The Boys’ Erin Moriarty) turning to Marie Moreau (Jaz Sinclair) for help. Vought is resuming a mysterious — and presumably dangerous — research program known as “Project Odessa,” and she needs Marie to stop it. This plan requires Marie to return to Godolkin University, which is now under the troubling control of Dean Cipher (Season 2 newcomer Hamish Linklater).

‘King of the Hill’ Revival Keeps Up with the Times, for Better and for Worse: TV Review
Image
Animation feels insulated from many of the obstacles that face nostalgia-driven revivals. The actors don’t visibly age, thereby reminding the audience of time’s passage; the characters themselves often exist in a temporal bubble, where Bart Simpson is forever in fourth grade and Bikini Bottom remains on the ocean floor. You can’t go home again, the saying goes, but when Hank and Peggy Hill (Mike Judge and Kathy Najimy) return to Arlen, Texas, it’s easier and less uncanny to follow them there than, say, Dexter Morgan to New York City.

Their namesake sitcom can, for example, lightly fudge its timeline.

Dave Nemetz Reviews King of the Hill: Yup, Hulu’s Revival Has Aged a Bit, But Still Delivers Texas-Sized Laughs
Image
Like Hank Hill, I’m naturally skeptical of anything new. So I was a bit worried when Hulu announced they’re bringing back the animated comedy King of the Hill for new episodes — only because the original Fox run was so impeccable, and I’d hate for anything to taint that. Then I got more worried when I learned the new King of the Hill would be set years later, with a grown-up Bobby Hill (!). Is nothing sacred? (Please hear that in Bobby Hill’s voice, and giggle along with me.)

But I shouldn’t have worried: Hulu’s new...
