Final Destination 7 Officially In The Works — Bloodlines Co-Writer Lori Evans Taylor Will Return
Image
As the old adage goes, there are three certainties in life: death, taxes, and horror movie sequels. And following the critical and commercial success of Final Destination: Bloodlines earlier this year, the first film in the iconic horror franchise since 2011's Final Destination 5, producers New Line are certainly looking to do their bit to keep the death and sequels coming at least. Per THR's reporting, a seventh Final Destination movie is officially in the works at Warner Bros. as the studio looks to keep the cogs turning on cinema's ultimate Rube Goldberg machine of death.

As THR detail, the new — and as-yet-untitled — sequel is set to be written by Lori Evans Taylor, who co-wrote the $286 million grossing Bloodlines with Ready Or Not alum Guy Busick. Whether Busick will be back in any capacity remains to be seen at this stage, as does whether directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein...

The 2025 horror film Final Destination: Bloodlines has become a major hit, and now New Line Cinema is ready to keep the story going. The studio, which is part of Warner Bros., has decided to move forward with a sequel and has brought back Lori Evans Taylor, one of the co-writers of Bloodlines, to write the next chapter.

Final Destination: Bloodlines is the sixth movie in the long-running Final Destination series. It was directed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein, and the screenplay was written by Lori Evans Taylor and Guy Busick.

The story itself was developed by Taylor, Busick, and Jon Watts, the director best known for Spider-Man: Homecoming, who also contributed creatively to the film. The movie stars Kaitlyn Santa Juana as Stefani, a college student who receives visions from her grandmother before she dies. These visions reveal a terrifying past event, a skyscraper collapse that was narrowly avoided...

Final Destination: Bloodlines turned out to be one of 2025’s biggest horror surprises, and now New Line Cinema is wasting no time in planning the next chapter. The studio, which is part of Warner Bros., has officially hired Bloodlines co-writer Lori Evans Taylor to write the follow-up.

The sixth film in the long-running supernatural horror series was directed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein, with a script by Taylor and Guy Busick. The story was based on an idea from Taylor, Busick, and Spider-Man: Homecoming director Jon Watts, who was also creatively involved in the production.

In Bloodlines, Kaitlyn Santa Juana plays Stefani, a college student who inherits disturbing visions from her dying grandmother. Lori Evans Taylor
THR reports that New Line Cinema is moving forward with Final Destination 7. The studio has tapped Lori Evans Taylor, co-writer of Final Destination: Bloodlines, to pen the script for the new sequel.

This isn’t exactly a huge surprise, as Bloodlines became the highest-grossing ($286 million) and best-reviewed installment of the entire franchise. Taylor co-wrote Bloodlines with Guy Busick from a story by Taylor, Busick, and Spider-Man: No Way Home director Jon Watts. Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein directed the movie.

'Final Destination: Bloodlines' Sequel Officially in the Works
Image
Death is inevitable, and apparently, so is the Final Destination franchise. Following the massive success of the most recent installment, Final Destination Bloodlines, New Line Cinema is going back to the well for more with some help from one of that film's writers. A new report confirmed that a sequel is happening, with Lori Evans Taylor set to pen the screenplay. Franchise producer and steward Craig Perry and franchise veteran Sheila Hanahan Taylor are also back in the fold as producers, alongside Jon Watts and his wife, Dianne McGunigle, and Toby Emmerich.

A follow-up to Bloodlines is no shocker, considering that the sixth installment set a franchise record at the box office by a country mile. Released back in May, it raked in a staggering $285.3 million globally against a budget of only $50 million, all while garnering rave reviews from critics and audiences alike with a Certified Fresh 93% and Verified Hot 87% respectively on Rotten Tomatoes.

$285M Supernatural Horror Movie Becomes Instant Streaming Hit
Image
Hollywood has been in turmoil since the Covid-19 pandemic first shook theaters, but horror movies have been a rare exception. While studios push to support sequels and adaptations as the only truly financially viable releases, new horror franchises have been thriving in theaters without any hint of faltering.

M3GAN (2022), Smile (2022), and MaXXXine (2024) all proved to be extremely successful releases that impressed critics and audiences alike. Even franchise-focused horror movies have been shockingly viable, as Alien: Romulus (2024), Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (2024), A Quiet Place Part II (2020), and Five Nights at Freddy’s (2023) proved to be some of the most profitable releases of the post-pandemic era.

As those releases prove, supernatural horror has been an especially compelling angle for Hollywood recently. While streaming has been cutting into theatrical takes, Five Nights at Freddy's released simultaneously on streaming and in theaters and still succeeded. Recently, another supernatural horror also thrived on both release platforms, despite staggering its debuts.

‘Final Destination: Bloodlines’ Blu-ray Review
Image
Stars: Kaitlyn Santa Juana, Ted Briones, Richard Harmon, Brec Bassinger, Tony Todd, Rya Kihlstedt, Anna Lore, Gabrielle Rose | Written by Guy Busick, Lori Evans Taylor | Directed by Zach Lipovsky, Adam B. Stein

Co-directed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, Final Destination: Bloodlines is the sixth film in the popular Death-moves-in-mysterious-ways horror franchise, following the fifth instalment, back in 2011. As such, the directing duo are clearly fans of the series, because they deliver everything audiences could conceivably want from a sixth (and probably not final) Final Destination movie, even managing to give the mythology a satisfying little tweak in the process.

The time-honoured opening sequence takes place in the 1950s, where young Iris (Stargirl’s Brec Bassinger) finds herself in a horrific disaster at the top of a newly opened high-rise restaurant. At the moment of her death, the film cuts to the present day, and it transpires that college...

Jon Watts would like to work on another Final Destination movie
Devon Sawa, Ali Larter, Seann William Scott, Kerr Smith, Amanda Detmer, and Chad Donella in Destino final (2000)
After a 14 year hiatus, the Final Destination franchise returned this year with Final Destination: Bloodlines – and movie-goers were clearly missing these movies, as Bloodlines has quickly become the highest-grossing entry in the franchise. The previous record holder, 2009’s The Final Destination, reached $187 million, but the new sequel has left that record in the dust, pulling in over $283 million. Franchise producer Craig Perry produced the new movie alongside Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far from Home, and Spider-Man: No Way Home director Jon Watts – and now, Watts has confirmed that he would be glad to work on another film in the Final Destination series.

Watts got his feature directorial debut with the Eli Roth-produced horror movie Clown, so it wasn’t shocking when he decided to circle back to the horror genre to produce and write the initial treatment for Final Destination: Bloodlines. Why Kimberly Corman Cameo Was Cut From Final Destination Bloodlines
Image
Final Destination Bloodlines co-director Zach Lipovsky has finally revealed the reason why they decided to scrap their initial plans to include Kimberly Corman in the latest installment of the hit supernatural horror franchise. Kimberly Corman was the main protagonist of 2003’s Final Destination 2, which featured one of the franchise’s most iconic death sequences, whose character was later portrayed by A.J. Cook.

During a recent interview with ScreenRant, Lipovsky confirmed that their first draft of the screenplay included a Corman cameo, which would have taken place in the same scene as William Bludworth’s appearance. However, they eventually removed Kimberly from the scene in order to give highlight to Tony Todd’s character. “It could definitely work in the future. It was actually something that we essentially killed. The first draft that we read—you guys are good at that,” Lipovsky said. “Yeah, the first draft that we read had them finding.

‘Final Destination Bloodlines’ Overtakes M. Night Shyamalan’s Career-Saving Blockbuster He Funded With His Own Money
Image
Although Final Destination Bloodlines has been in theaters worldwide for over a month and has now been made available on home video, the movie is continuing to generate revenue at the box office. It’s already among the highest-grossing horror movies of all time, but will conclude its theatrical run with under $300 million globally. That being said, Bloodlines overtook a massively popular scary movie at the global box office this weekend, as it continued to lose theaters in the face of heavy competition. With $280 million globally, Bloodlines has overtaken the lifetime worldwide haul of director M. Night Shyamalan’s Split.

Released in 2016, the movie essentially saved his spiraling career after he regained some lost pride with the movie The Visit, a year earlier. Split was produced on a reported budget of just $9 million, which Shyamalan put up himself. Released by Universal, the movie was headlined by James McAvoy, who was...

In fact, Bloodlines has accumulated a total of 92% critics' score on Rotten Tomatoes, making it the highest-rated Final Destination movie on the review aggregator. But that’s not to say the previous five were not in a league of their own. And to satisfy every fan's thirst for bloody premonitions, the franchise is getting a new Blu-ray collection with all six movies included in one set.

‘Final Destination Bloodlines’ Just Passed This Oscar Winning Horror Movie With 95% on Rotten Tomatoes
Image
Having completed a full month of release in theaters worldwide, Final Destination Bloodlines has emerged as a massive blockbuster. In fact, it out-grossed fellow Warner Bros. horror hit Sinners in international markets, and passed an all-time classic at the domestic box office this weekend. Bloodlines is by far the highest-grossing installment in the Final Destination franchise, which had remained dormant for nearly 15 years before its release. But, similar to the recent Lilo & Stitch remake and this week’s How to Train Your Dragon remake, the series holds a special place in the hearts of millennials.

With $130 million domestically and another $141 million from overseas markets, Bloodlines’ cumulative global haul now stands at $272 million. It probably has a little more life left in it before it wraps up its theatrical run for good. In the last month, Bloodlines has overtaken horror hits such as Annabelle, The Blair Witch Project, and Get Out.

'Final Destination Bloodlines’ Infects Milla Jovovich’s 28% Rotten Tomatoes Hit at Global Box Office
Image
Having nearly completed a month of release in theaters worldwide, Final Destination Bloodlines is wrapping up what has been a textbook theatrical run for a film of its size and shape. The horror movie has more than quadrupled its reported budget, delivered franchise-best box office results, and, most importantly, gotten a new generation of audiences interested in the series. The movie has now passed what could be its final global box office milestone, as it solidifies Warner Bros.’ comeback after a sad start to the year with the back-to-back underperformance of Bong Joon Ho’s Mickey 17 and Barry Levinson’s The Alto Knights.

With just under $125 million domestically and another $133 million from overseas markets, Bloodlines has grossed a cumulative total of $257 million worldwide. The movie was produced on a reported budget of $50 million and has comfortably outperformed every installment of the Scream franchise, which was also reintroduced to a...

’Final Destination Bloodlines’ Overtakes a Classic Roger Ebert Called a “Gothic Extravaganza” at the Global Box Office
Image
Having established itself as the top-grossing installment of the long-running Final Destination franchise, Final Destination Bloodlinespassed a major global box office milestone this weekend. The horror movie has been playing in theaters worldwide for nearly a month now, having debuted in the wake of fellow Warner Bros. horror release Sinners. Like that film, Bloodlines earned solid reviews and saved the studio from going down what seemed like a dismal road earlier this year, following the underperformance of Bong Joon Ho's Mickey 17 and Barry Levinson's The Alto Knights.

With $111 million domestically and another $117 from overseas markets, Bloodlineshas grossed nearly $230 million worldwide so far. The movie was produced on a reported budget of $50 million, which makes it a solid hit for W.B. The franchise's previous number one film was the fourth installment, The Final Destination, which earned nearly $190 million worldwide in 2009. Released a couple of years after that, Final Destination 5...

Brat Summer Meets the Grim Reaper in Charli Xcx's Sequel Idea for 'Final Destination Bloodlines'
Image
Pop icon Charli Xcx is revisiting the Final Destination franchise ahead of seeing the latest installment, Final Destination Bloodlines, which landed in theaters two weeks ago. The musician only had the best words for the films, as seen on TikTok, and she didn’t hesitate to pitch her own idea for a potential sequel starring “It Girls.” Final Destination began with the 2000 pic and is currently in its sixth chapter, which is not the last for the franchise, as previously hinted by producer Craig Perry. So fingers crossed, Charli’s version could actually come to life.

In the video, the Brat creator initially pointed out why she loves the Final Destination movies, saying they “really just are about hot people getting killed” and with “no moral backbone to the story.” She then detailed her idea, naming some stars she would want featured in her version, including a scream icon:

“I was thinking,...

‘Final Destination Bloodlines’ Overtakes the Horror Classic that Roger Ebert Called the "Most Influential of Modern Action Pictures”
Image
Among the biggest horror movies of recent times, and, indeed, one of the biggest horror films ever made, is last year's Alien: Romulus. It successfully re-energized a franchise that began in 1979, with Ridley Scott's landmark first Alien film. The movie earned nearly $190 million at the worldwide box office, a number that has now been eclipsed by the recent hit Final Destination Bloodlines. Over the course of a couple of weeks, Bloodlines has emerged as the highest-grossing installment of the long-running horror franchise, and has established itself among the biggest scary movies of the last few years.

Bloodlines is passing the $100 million mark domestically as we speak, and has earned $190 million at the global box office so far. This has put it ahead of the $188 million that Alien is currently sitting on, including all the revenue it has generated through re-releases. The movie celebrated its 45th anniversary in theaters last year.

Final Destination: Bloodlines BTS Clip Spotlights Gruesome Practical FX For The "Lawnmower Kill"
Image
Final Destination: Bloodlines has proven to be a massive success for Warner Bros., and has now become the highest-grossing movie in the franchise with a $187+ million global box office haul.

Highly positive reviews are sure to have helped, as are some incredibly inventive, shocking, and downright gruesome kills.

Though the opening Sky View premonition sequence is arguably the highlight of the movie, the "lawnmower death" that befalls poor Uncle Howard has to be a close second. The carnage is brilliantly orchestrated, with several fake-outs building towards Howard falling backwards into the oncoming blades of the lawnmower.

The studio has now shared a behind-the-scenes look at Howard's brutal demise, which relied heavily on practical VFX. We also have some BTS photos of the bloodied cast members.

Check out the clip below, and let us know if you've been to see the movie yet in the comments.
