Film Independent Selects 15 Projects For 22nd Fast Track Film Finance Market

Exclusive: Film Independent has named the 37 filmmakers and 15 projects selected for the 22nd edition of its Fast Track Film Finance Market, which kicked off in-person November 12 and wraps up today.

Through the program, creatives working on both fictional projects and documentaries are connected with established financiers, production companies, agents, managers and other film industry professionals who can move their projects forward.

Sundance Institute and Gold House Names 10 Recipients of the One House Filmmakers Fund (Exclusive)

Sundance Institute and Gold House have named the 10 recipients of the One House Filmmakers Fund.

The fund is designed to provide unrestricted financing, educational support and amplification for filmmakers from historically underrepresented communities.

The 10 filmmakers are Pierre Coleman (“Ricky”), Don Josephus Raphael Eblahan (“Hum”), Colette Ghunim (“Traces of Home”), Julia Kennelly (“Clare”) Sofian Khan (“Karachi Sky”), Naomi Ko (“Marry Korean”), April Maxey (“Work”), John Sutter (“Planet A”), Angela Tucker (“The Inquisitor”) and Jing Wang (“Ride With Delivery Workers”).

The news was announced at the One House Filmmakers Fund Soiree, hosted by Sundance Institute, Gold House and East West Bank Foundation on Saturday, Oct. 26. The event also featured a special pitch session, where the 10 filmmakers were given an exclusive opportunity to pitch their projects to financiers and distributors.

Dominic Ng, chairman and CEO of East West Bank, said, “We are proud to partner with Gold House and Sundance Institute to support the One House Filmmakers Fund.

Tribeca Festival 2024 Reveals Creators Market Participants (Exclusive)

Tribeca Festival 2024 has revealed the participants for this year’s Tribeca Festival Creators Market, which features a curated selection of creatives pitching feature, episodic, audio and immersive projects to a group of industry leaders. Companies in attendance for the pitch market include Sony Pictures Classics, Neon, Cinetic Media, Paramount+, Max, IFC Films and the Sundance Institute.

The 2024 Tribeca Festival Creators Market program includes narrative projects from Tallie Medel (“Everything Everywhere All At Once”) who will pitch her feature film “Ketchikan;” Lauren Minnerath, who will pitch her feature “Clare,” executive produced by Nia DaCosta (“The Marvels”); as well as Oliver Edwin, who will present his narrative feature “Situation #64.” Tisha Robinson-Daly and Jonathan Mason, who previously participated in the Creators Market and in Tribeca’s Epic Games Writing in Unreal program, will pitch their feature in production, “High.”

Sundance Institute Sets Fellows For 2023 Producers Lab And Intensive

The Sundance Institute has today named the participants and projects set for the latest edition of its Producers Lab, taking place at Utah’s Sundance Mountain Resort from July 24-28, as well as for its Producers Intensive, taking place this fall.

Feature Film producers taking part in the Producers Lab include Pierre M. Coleman (Ricky), Julia Kennelly (Clare), Liz Lian (Skin), Valerie Castillo Martinez (Anita) and Cameron Morton (Lollygag). Among those coming to the Lab with documentary projects are Colleen Cassingham (Life After), Nicole Docta (The Dead Zone), Emma D. Miller (Untitled Mistress Dispeller Project), Jolene Pinder (Fun House) and Flor de oro Tejada (Wild Darlings Sing the Blues (And It’s a Song of Freedom)).
