Chicago Med's new promo sets up thrilling (but disappointing) story arc for Lenox
Image
Dr. Caitlin Lenox (Sarah Ramos) have repeatedly proven herself to be a capable force on Chicago Med. The character has been around for less than a season, and has already vaunted herself to the front of the line when it comes to diagnosing tricky ailments. It's Lenox's personal life that's taken a nosedive, however, and will continue to do so in the upcoming episode "Baby Mine..."

The promo for "Baby Mine..." confirms that Lenox will be forced to confront her relationship with Dr. Hayes (Brendan Hines), a man who reportedly sexually harassed a co-worker. Lenox rarely tolerates nonsense or unethical behavior, but Hayes has repeatedly been someone who has served as a sort of kryptonite for her. Lenox not only put up with Dr. Hayes' flirtatious behavior in the workplace, she entertained it. She even planned to go to Myrtle Beach with him before the allegations came to light.

Chicago Med Season 10, Episode 15 Review: Ripley Finally Learns His Lesson
Image
The following contains major spoilers from Chicago Med Season 13, Episode 15, "Down in a Hole," which debuted Wednesday, March 5 on NBC.

Chicago Med Season 10, Episode 15, "Down in a Hole" feels like a relief, because it seems to end the show's most frustrating storyline. The NBC medical drama diverts from normal by moving most of its action outside Gaffney Chicago Medical Center, and succeeds in creating lots o tension. But what's most important is its use of character -- including one from Chicago Fire.

"Down in a Hole" is the brainchild of Chicago Med showrunner Allen MacDonald, and most viewers will be able to guess quickly which real life situation the plot is based on. But the medicine is actually secondary in this case; in fact, there are only two patients of the week, both tied to the same case. MacDonald is primarily focused on getting Dr. Mitch Ripley out of a proverbial hole,...

Chicago Med just brought back a character we truly never thought we'd see again
Image
If there is one thing that Chicago Med season 10 has taught us, it’s that we should really learn to expect the unexpected. First came the return of Rachel Dipillo as Dr. Sarah Reese, marking her first appearance on the show since her exit way back in season 4. Then came episode 15, which brought about an unexpected return of a character whose time seemingly had come to an end via a really fun cameo.

Warning: Spoilers ahead for Chicago Med season 10, episode 15

Episode 15, “Down in a Hole,” was a major episode for Ripley who took center stage as he teamed up with Mouch and the Cfd to help a mother and daughter trapped in an abandoned well. During the rescue, Ripely successfully assisted the Cfd in rescuing both victims and getting them to safety; however, the rescue took a turn for the worse when the tunnel collapsed leaving Ripley trapped within...

‘Challenging but Fun’: Chicago Med’s Luke Mitchell on Ripley's Collapse
Image
Mitch Ripley is surely self-destructing in Chicago Med Season 10, which is giving actor Luke Mitchell plenty to work with. Ripley is dealing with the death of his childhood friend Sully and everything that comes with it in the worst way -- and in Episode 15, he's going to face a whole other challenge. "Down in a Hole" puts Ripley into the field with Chicago Fire's Randy "Mouch" McHolland to save an endangered child, but how far will he go?

In an interview with Cbr, Mitchell previewed the upcoming episode and spoke about working with veteran One Chicago co-stars like Christian Stolte and Chicago Med's Oliver Platt. He also discussed Ripley's challenging Season 10 arc, and what part of it has been difficult for him as an actor. Plus, what has it been like for Mitchell to reunite with his Republic of Sarah co-star on Chicago Med?

Chicago Med recap: The hospital gets investigated and a relationship hangs in the balance
Oliver Platt, Steven Weber, Marlyne Barrett, S. Epatha Merkerson, and Jessy Schram in Chicago Med (2015)
The new episode of Chicago Med began with the hospital receiving a patient influx.

Another local hospital had closed its doors, forcing more people to Med.

It was a chaotic atmosphere in the waiting room, with many sick patients trying to get help.

A National Accreditation Board of Hospitals representative was waiting among the patients.

The man was upset about being kept waiting, possibly hinting at a bad time for Gaffney since he could shut down hospitals.

Sharon Goodwin and Maggie Lockwood began jumping through hoops to keep the grumpy man content.

Goodwin feared the investigator was nit-picking to find problems and asked Maggie to keep everyone in line.

Chicago Med Season 10, Episode 14 recap

Dr. Hannah Asher and Dr. Naomi Howard searched for the cause of a young girl’s infection while her overprotective mother watched on. She was in toxic shock.

Suspended Dr. Mitch Ripley checked in on the sick son of his friend,...

Chicago Med boss reveals why Ripley will continue to "spiral" in season 10
Image
Dr. Mitch Ripley (Luke Mitchell) is going through it. He did an excellent job of putting his personal drama to the side and focusing on the task at hand during the One Chicago crossover. If not for him, it remains to be seen if Chicago Pd's Trudy Platt (Amy Morton) would have lived to fight another day.

Ripley has a lot going on internally, though, and the rest of Chicago Med season 10 will work to unpack it. The character suffered the loss of a friend, Sully (Daniel Dorr), in the episode right before the crossover. We even see Ripley returning from Sully's funeral at the beginning of the crossover.

'Chicago Med' Luke Mitchell Teases a Darker Dr. Ripley in Season 9
Image
Since Dr. Ripley joined the Chicago Med ER, the show has peeled back layers to reveal a flawed character with a brutal past. One of his biggest triggers was his past relationship with Dr Charles (Oliver Platt), but they have since hashed that out. A new problem from the past came up when Sully sought him out, bringing the worst out of Dr Ripley. Luke Mitchell talked to TV Line about what's ahead for his character. He teased an even darker version of Ripleydarker than tackling a patient like a WWE star in the ER. The past becomes a monster for Dr. Ripley when Sully's girlfriend arrives at Med seeking medical help. She's pregnant, but Sully (Daniel Dorr) has not told her about the cancer diagnosis. Soon after, Dr. Asher becomes curious about Dr. Ripley's past when former friends of his start dropping by the hospital. Things will become challenging...

Actor, filmmaker and musician Dillon Tucker makes his feature début with the autobiographical narrative feature, Pure O, that takes the audience inside the complicated and debilitating reality of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (Ocd).

Cooper Ganz (Daniel Dorr) believes he’s suffering from depression, but then his therapist diagnoses him as suffering with the Pure Obsessional form of Ocd. It impacts his personal and professional life, but through group therapy and continuing his work as a drug rehab counsellor, he discovers value in human connections.

In conversation with Eye For Film, ahead of the world premiere at SXSW, Tucker discussed the musical nature of film, and Hitchcock’s mastery of psychology and technical manipulation. He also spoke about the masculine point of view and mental health, and his desire to create a broad thematic reflection on human nature.

Video Exclusive: Daniel Dorr & Writer-Director Dillon Tucker On Making SXSW Film ‘Pure O,’ Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
Image
Pure O follows the story of Cooper (Daniel Dorr), an aspiring screenwriter who struggles with a lesser-known form of Ocd known as Pure O. Writer and director Dillon Tucker played Brian in the film.

The film is set to premiere at the South By Southwest Film Festival in Austin, Texas, on March 13 in the Narrative Feature competition.

In an exclusive interview with uInterview founder Erik Meers, Tucker explained why he wanted to write and direct the story.

“Well, it’s a very semi-autobiographical story about my own life and I wrote it pretty quickly because I didn’t want to write about my life probably like eight years ago or something like that and I didn’t want to write it when I was going through things, I wanted to wait until I was passed everything and processed it, but I didn’t want to wait until I kind of...

‘Bar Fight!’ Review: Bitter Aftertaste Hangs Over Flat Romantic Dramedy
Melissa Fumero at an event for Brooklyn Nine-Nine (2013)
A sitcom episode stretched out to snapping point, “Bar Fight!” may have made for a mildly amusing 22 minutes. But you may need a few drinks to get through the full hour and a half.

It certainly doesn’t help that there’s not a single person here worth the hang. The entire concept hinges on abrasive talent agent Nina and blandly hipsterish carpenter Allen, who have just executed the most enlightened breakup since Gwyneth and Chris consciously uncoupled. But when they unexpectedly show up at the same dive bar — the one they happily shared for five years — the gloves come off.

It’s decided that they’ll compete for custody, with one triumphantly “keeping” the bar and the other conceding defeat and moping off to another neighborhood. The staff tosses some suggestions in a Santa hat (it’s December), and the competition begins.

Bar Fight! review – breakup comedy turns into drinking-challenge face-off
Luka Jones at SPIN ME ROUND premiere
An unhappy couple settle their rivalry over on a series of inane challenges in a film that mistakes dodgy acting for ambience

This LA-set breakup comedy at least has a nifty hook: when a longstanding couple part ways, who gets drinking rights at their favourite bar? After five years together, flannel-shirted carpenter Allen (Luka Jones) and go-getting talent agent Nina (Melissa Fumero) are undergoing what Los Angelenos now call a “conscious uncoupling”. Having never fought when they were together, their separation proceeds on the same smooth lines – until they set foot in the Martinez Bar & Lounge on the same evening, both on the town as singletons for the first time. Staff allegiances are divided, so they come up with a decider: Allen and Nina have to undergo a best-of-three bar challenge, with the loser “eighty-sixed” for good.

Debut director Jim Mahoney gets a tasty buzz on in the early stages,...

Dave Grohl Drums Up a Cameo as Himself in New ‘Bill & Ted’ Movie
Image
Times like these demand cameos, and Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl makes an all-too-brief one in the much-anticipated “Bill & Ted Face the Music,” out this weekend.

Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter are returning for their third outing as Bill and Ted, with a new mission is to find that one song they recorded to unite the world and rescue mankind — all in the space of two time-tripping hours.

As Bill and Ted journey through time, they stop off in 2025, where they meet their future older selves — this time as rock stars who live in a sprawling mansion. Except present-day Bill and Ted soon realize their older selves are con artists, trying to stop them from finding the song, and they realize they’re being conned when Grohl makes an appearance as himself, wondering who these people are at his house.

Grohl isn’t the only musician playing himself: Kid Cudi...
