We recently learned that Marvel Studios' Avengers: Doomsday is (or soon will be) filming in the Middle East, with several cast members photographed having dinner in a restaurant in Bahrain.

Anthony Mackie (Sam Wilson), Letitia Wright (Shuri), Tenoch Huerta (Namor), Danny Ramirez (Joaquin Torres), Simu Liu (Shang-Chi), Winston Duke (M'Maku), and Hannah John-Kamen (Ghost), along with Mabel Cadena and Alex Livinalli, who played Namora and Attuma in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, were all spotted together, and some new photos have now been shared online.

The actors are not actually on set, unfortunately, and were snapped attending various events and enjoying some downtime before cameras start rolling.

More interestingly, Thunderbolts* star Olga Kurylenko's trainer shared an Instagram post revealing that the actress is also in Bahrain. Complete coincidence, or is the deceased Taskmaster set to return along with the "New Avengers?"

Avengers: Doomsday remains shrouded in mystery as production on the superhero crossover movie continues to move forward. A new behind-the-scenes photo from the set of Doomsday has now offered the fandom some clues regarding a certain character's fate.

Newton Thomas Sigel, the cinematographer for Citadel, Candy Cane Lane, and the upcoming Doomsday, recently shared a set photo on his Instagram account with the caption, "Bahrain Crane Porn." While all the individuals in the photo have a shadow cast over them, making it hard to identify anyone, Marvel fans strongly believe that Winston Duke's M'Baku is in the bottom left corner of the image, holding his staff. Avengers: Doomsday is currently shooting in Bahrain, and cinematographer Newton Thomas Sigel has shared a behind-the-scenes photo from the set that potentially reveals more than he intended.

A bus can be seen driving through the desert in the distance, and in the bottom left corner, we see someone who looks an awful lot like Winston Duke holding M'Baku's staff. We're not sure who he's talking to, but at first glance, it seems to be Letitia Wright (Shuri/Black Panther) and Simu Liu (Shang-Chi).

There's speculation that they're all standing in The Void; rumour has it that the wasteland sitting at the End of Time will play a key role in Avengers: Doomsday. Perhaps Captain America's team heads there to recruit Variants who can help them battle Doctor Doom?

Some photos have been shared online with Anthony Mackie (Sam Wilson), Letitia Wright (Shuri), Tenoch Huerta (Namor), Danny Ramirez (Joaquin Torres), Simu Liu (Shang-Chi), Winston Duke (M'Maku), and Hannah John-Kamen (Ghost), along with Mabel Cadena and Alex Livinalli, who played Namora and Attuma in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

It seems the Savage Sub-Mariner will have some back-up from two of his most trusted Talokan warriors when he joins the fight against Doctor Doom... providing he doesn't choose the villain's side, that is!

Can we assume that these particular characters will be grouped together for the good chunk of the movie? It wouldn't be surprising if Shuri, M'Baku and Namor shared multiple scenes, but it is interesting that only one Thunderbolts* cast member is here.

Kevin Feige’s Marvel Cinematic Universe seems to be an unlucky place for WWE stars. Damian Priest joined Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins on the list of pro-wrestlers who were cut out from a Marvel role. Priest revealed that he almost landed a role in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever but was eventually not allowed to play the character.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever finally brought Namor the Submariner into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, the character underwent some significant changes, with Atlantis swapped out for Talokan and his origin story rooted in Mayan legend.

While not everyone was happy about that, it went a long way in helping to differentiate Namor from DC's Aquaman.

Thanks to Marvel Studios concept artist Phil Saunders (who has spent the past year working on Disney's Tron: Ares), we have a new look at some sequences which didn't make it into the Black Panther sequel's final cut.

That includes a clash between Ironheart and Namora. "The script originally called for an extended battle between [Riri Williams] and [Namora] that would have taken them underwater," Saunders says. "It was inevitably cut to keep the focus on [Shuri] and [Namor], but gave me the opportunity to paint some dynamic shots."

It’s been less than a week since Black Panther: Wakanda Forever premiered on Disney+, and Marvel Studios has announced that it has become the most-watched Marvel movie premiere on the streaming service globally, based on hours streamed in its first five days.

Marvel Studios didn’t supply viewership figures, but Samba TV, which measures viewership across 3 million smart TVs in the U.S., said that 2.1 million U.S. households streamed Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Col Strain, VP of Measurement at Samba TV, said, “Just as it smashed box office records last year, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever made a splash in its debut on Disney+ as 2.1 million U.S. households streamed the much-anticipated sequel to the iconic film featuring a star-studded cast.”

“Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” is the most-watched Marvel film premiere on Disney+ across the globe, based on hours streamed in its first five days, the company announced Monday.

“Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” directed by Ryan Coogler, launched on Disney+ on Feb. 1, after its theatrical debut Nov. 11, 2022. Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” will premiere on Disney+ on Feb. 1, Disney announced on Wednesday.

The Marvel sequel hit theaters in November, making 820 worldwide to date. Over the holiday, the “Black Panther” sequel was third on the U.S. box office charts with 6.5 million grossed over the 4-day weekend, and now stands at 440 domestic through Monday.

The first “Black Panther” made over 1 billion in 2018 and was nominated for seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture (so far the only Marvel movie to accomplish such a feat), ultimately winning three. It’s also the 30th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the capstone to its wobbly Phase 4.

One week into it’s worldwide release, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has spawned a multiverse of conversations surrounding grief, fate, honor and duty — all themes that add new texture to viewers’ understanding of both the singular hero’s journey and the multiplied power of community. Having grossed more than 400 million worldwide to date, the film is at once deeply present, and Afrofuturist while dwelling in the past; the immediate invocation of the ancestors and portrayal of inherited traditions guide the sequel’s cast of characters in the absence of the late Chadwick Boseman (T’Challa) in order to carry the next generation forward.

When reflecting on her preparation for the role of Nakia, Lupita Nyong’o tells The Hollywood Reporter she had to face the task she was given, “which was of a woman who was at a different stage of accepting the loss than I was.

Few films in the 21st century have made as large of a cultural impact as “Black Panther.” A sequel was inevitable, but Chadwick Boseman’s tragic death put the creative team in a seemingly impossible position. How do you continue a franchise without its titular star?

As part of IndieWire’s Consider This FYC Brunch November 18, “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” producer Nate Moore and costume designer Ruth E. Carter joined IndieWire’s Marcus Jones for a conversation about bringing the fictional African nation of Wakanda to life once again.

But for all its features, the MCU doesn't have a great track record when it comes to its villains. That changes with "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

“Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” not only gives the on-screen women central roles, director Ryan Coogler had women playing major roles behind the camera too.

A good chunk of the film involves the underwater city of Talokan, where the franchise’s new character Namor [Tenoch Huerta] rules off the coast of Mexico; thus, lots of Mayan art and cultural influences. “We continue to push the artistic elements. We were exploring the deep ocean and looked at different inspirations in Mayan culture, as well as the Aztecs. The follow up to 2018's "Black Panther" was always going to face unfair comparisons to other films. Not only did it need to live up to its predecessor, but "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" is also arriving at a time when its set pieces look strangely like James Cameron's forthcoming "Avatar" sequel and its rendering of a fictional underwater city follows in the footsteps of James Wan's nothing-if-not visually spectacular "Aquaman." Where "Wakanda Forever" surely succeeds though is in its use of Mayan and Aztec history to reinterpret Marvel Comics' Namor: The Sub-Mariner for a modern audience and to update the tired trope of Atlantis with the fresh image of Talokan.

Over the past few years, Marvel Studios has strived to tell more diverse stories, pulling not only from the rich lore of their comics but also from the history of other cultures. Marvel Cinematic Universe stories such as "Eternals," "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings," and "Ms. Marvel" are deeply rooted in the cultures and traditions of people from around the world. The celebration of different cultures is front-and-center in the newest film in the MCU: "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever." 

The first "Black Panther" film received acclaim for its story and world-building, and was the first Marvel Studios film with a Black director and predominantly Black cast. With "Wakanda Forever," Coogler uses his skills to tell the story of another underrepresented minority in the MCU. “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” earned 28 million at the Thursday night box office, opening in the U.S. and Canada beginning at 3 p.m. before expanding to more than 4,396 theaters this weekend.

The Marvel Studios film is set to play in IMAX, Premium Large Format, 3D, D-Box/4D motion and Screen X this weekend. It debuts day and date in all international markets save for China and Russia.

Given the massive success of its predecessor, “Wakanda Forever” is projected to exceed 200 million at the weekend box office, though some estimates fix that number at 175 million.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever introduces a whole new corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Talokan the secret underwater kingdom. Although the people of Wakanda are mourning the loss of their protector and king, T’Challa, a new threat will rise to the surface with Namor. Before filming “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” director Ryan Coogler didn’t know how to swim.

“A lot of us were raised to have fear of water,” the 36-year-old filmmaker told Variety, admitting his own trepidation and evoking the various reasons Black people have avoided — or ways they’ve been excluded — from pools and the ocean over the years. “I had to figure out how to swim so I could direct this movie.”

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever finds Wakanda and its people in a very different place. Wakanda is a country in mourning after losing T’Challa, their king and Black Panther, but it also soon becomes a nation at war. The movie introduces a new threat to the nation with Namor the leader of the underwater civilization Talokan.

Lupita Nyong’o’s character Nakia is in a completely different place than in Black Panther after losing the love of her life. T’Challa’s death has had a major impact on Nakia, changing her outlook as she mourns the loss in the new movie. But she is also a warrior and thus will play an important role against the new threat of war.

Marvel’s MCU Phase 4 film Black Panther 2 lovingly honours Chadwick Boseman and stars Angela Bassett, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Danai Gurira, Florence Kasumba, Lupita Nyong’o, Martin Freeman. A day after releasing the audio for “Lift Me Up,” her new song from the soundtrack of “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” Rihanna has dropped the official music video, and you can watch it above now.

The video is a fairly simple thing — Rihanna just went to a beach somewhere and had a camera crew capture her looking emotional against a sunset and twilight sky. It’s interspersed with footage from “Wakanda Forever,” which will of course be its own kind of emotional, since the context both in the story and in the real world is the tragic loss of Chadwick Boseman, who died of cancer in 2020.

The song is Rihanna’s first solo single since “Lemon” in 2017.

“Lift Me Up,” which the Fenty mogul confirmed after Marvel teased Monday night, will accent the soundtrack of “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” which had its gala premiere on Wednesday and will see wide release Nov. 11.

Rumors began circulating earlier this month that Rihanna has recorded not one, but two tracks for the upcoming Marvel movie.

On Twitter Tuesday, the studio posted an animation of the “Wakanda Forever” title shimmers, shuffles and then fades away, leaving only the letter R, and a date: 10/28/22.

Five years ago, the artist released “Lemon,” and it has been 6 years since she released a studio album (“Anti”). More recently, she gave birth to a child she shares with longtime partner Aap Rocky.

Following a Los Angeles premiere Wednesday night, first reactions to “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” are pouring in. Critics have applauded writer/director Ryan Coogler’s MCU installment that both honors the late Chadwick Boseman’s legacy while introducing new characters into the epic world of Wakanda.

Wednesday’s premiere screenings were split between the Dolby and El Capitan theater across the street. Along with the cast and crew, the Dolby brought in everyone from Quinta Brunson and Sheryl Lee Ralph to Chloe x Halle and Daveed Diggs. Marvel stars like Simu Liu, Kumail Nanjiani, and Iman Vellani also turned out for the world premiere, along with directors (MCU and non-mcu alike) Destin Daniel Cretton, Gina Prince-Bythewood, David Lowery, Rian Johnson, and Steve Caple Jr. Audiences cheered for every character intro, especially for newcomer Tenoch Huerta as Namor, and for Dominique Thorne.

Rihanna returns to music after a long break with “Lift Me Up,” the lead single off of the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack. “Lift Me Up” was written by Rihanna, Tems, Oscar winner Ludwig Göransson, and Black Panther director Ryan Coogler and will drop on Friday, October 28, 2022.

The original song is a moving tribute to Chadwick Boseman and was produced by Göransson.

“After speaking with Ryan and hearing his direction for the film and the song, I wanted to write something that portrays a warm embrace from all the people that I’ve lost in my life. I tried to imagine what it would feel like if I could sing to them now and express how much I miss them,” said Tems. “Rihanna has been an inspiration to me so hearing her convey this song is a great honor.

The Black Panther: Wakanda Forever clip features Okoye (Danai Gurira), Aneka (Michaela Coel), and Ayo (Florence Kasumba) taking out some soldiers in a laboratory. While both Okoye and Ayo are using the spears associated with the Dora Milaje, Aneka is using a set of energy daggers given to her by Shuri (Letitia Wright), which prompts Okoye to give her a talking to.
