As a footballer, he played for Barcelona (1990-2001), Brescia (2001-02) (2003), Roma (2002-03), Al-Ahli (2003-05) and Dorados (2005-06). Guardiola won 47 caps and scored 5 goals for Spain between 1992-2001 and also won 7 caps for Catalonia between 1995-2005.

Has three children: daughters, Maria and Valentina, and son Màrius.
