Eyes of Wakanda has just premiered on Disney+, and it changes everything we thought we knew about Marvel Studios' Black Panther franchise.
The series follows multiple characters throughout history as they attempt to retrieve and return powerful artefacts to the isolationist nation of Wakanda. In the finale (which is set in 1896), we're introduced to a Black Panther from 500 years in the future, played by Anika Noni Rose.
The future Queen of Wakanda has travelled back in time because Wakanda and the world have fallen to the alien Horde. She warns Prince Tafari and Kuda that the Vibranium axe they've tracked down must not be returned to her home. By leaving the axe out in the world, it will one day be stolen by Erik Killmonger, drawing T'Challa out from the shadows and ultimately leading to Wakanda revealing itself to the world.

While we've only glimpsed some of the endless (and often dangerous) realities beyond Earth-616, there are still plenty of hidden worlds within the primary reality of the Marvel Cinematic Universe we've yet to discover. Indeed, we get to check out some of them in the animated anthology series "Eyes of Wakanda."
In the show's third episode, worlds collide when a War Dog returns an artifact to Wakanda, only for the Iron Fist of that era, Jorani (voiced by Jona Xiao), to follow him home and attempt to take it back. Naturally, using animation to tell this story allows for much more freedom when it comes to visualizing how the Living Weapon moves and, more importantly, fights. But even after every fist thrown and every kick launched, perhaps the most striking element of the Iron Fist is her appearance -- specifically, the hero's iconic headgear, which has undergone a major change here.

The series is different from previous Marvel animated shows because it takes place right within the main MCU timeline, the so-called “Sacred Timeline.” Todd Harris, who is the showrunner and director, wanted to tell a story that connects Wakanda’s rich history with the bigger Marvel world.
He describes the show as “a giant spy-espionage story that spans time.

Over the last two years, Marvel’s television slate faced a whole lot of shifting, followed by an entire revamping of its structure, and it seems to have finally found its groove. And there’s still quite a few shows on the horizon.
According to Marvel TV head Brad Winderbaum, the studio is now “thinking about television really more like traditional television” — which in some cases means multiple seasons. “Loki,” “Daredevil: Born Again” and “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man” are so far the only series to get more than one, though Winderbaum offered hope for “Agatha All Along” and “Hawkeye.”
In the meantime, it’s hard for anyone to keep track of all these series in their head. So, we went ahead and compiled a list for you of every confirmed Marvel TV show currently in the works to premiere on Disney+.

This Friday, Marvel Studios/Marvel Animation releases all four episodes of Eyes of Wakanda, a Black Panther prequel series set in the McU's distant past.
While there's a lot of excitement to see the world of Wakanda expand with this story about the Hatut Zaraze, easily the most intriguing part of the show is Marvel Studios' plan to introduce a new, female Iron Fist (generations before Danny Rand inherits the mantle).
We still don't have a name for the Iron Fist who was first spotted in a new trailer and character poster released yesterday, but Jona Xiao is now confirmed to be voicing the character in Eyes of Wakanda.
The actor broke the news on Instagram, writing, "So stoked to reveal I’m playing the MCU’s 1st ever female Iron Fist! Catch Marvel's 'Eyes of Wakanda,' dropping on Disney+ August 1st!"

Marvel's Eyes of Wakanda animated spin-off anthology series will be taking viewers back to the titular nation much sooner than expected. In an exclusive conversation with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Todd Harris confirmed that all four episodes, which were originally set to premiere on August 27, will now arrive on Disney+ on August 1. It's a big shock considering the team hasn't gotten a ton of chances to speak out about the project, and all that's been seen so far is a short teaser. Moreover, the news is a nice update to tide fans over since Marvel decided to skip San Diego Comic-Con this year.

Speaking to SFX Magazine via GamesRadar+, Harris explained that Eyes of Wakanda drew inspiration from thecreative team's favorite movies. "We were firing on all cylinders, making up stuff, and then money, time and reality makes you focus and harness what we got," he said. "We picked our favorites of our favorites. Black Panther fans gather up, it’s time to return to Wakanda with a new and the highly anticipated animated series Eyes of Wakanda. After showcasing what fans are in for at the recent Annecy Festival. Marvel Studios has unveiled the first teaser of the four part series and its everything fans could ask for. While we all love the live-action movies that present Wakanda as the Afro futuristic nation, protected by a Black Panther, the upcoming series will take us back in time, truly.
The new teaser takes us back in time with a new protector, new dora milaje and a Wakanda, still ahead of its time. The clip seems to be similar to what was presented by showrunner Todd Harris during Annecy fest that took fans back to 1260 B.C., where our hero, a disgraced Dora Milaje warrior is tasked with retrieving stolen Vibranium artifacts. The Black Panther franchise is expanding this year with the upcoming Disney+ series Eyes of Wakanda, which follows Wakandan warriors retrieving stolen artifacts across different time periods. The animated anthology series will directly connect to the film franchise, also spearheaded by executive producer Ryan Coogler. However, it will also introduce new bits of MCU history and characters, including what appears to be a new version of a Marvel superhero that previously made his debut in a Netflix series.
During the Annecy Animation Festival (via Variety), Eyes of Wakanda creator and showrunner Todd Harris confirmed that the animated series will re-introduce a superhero that made his debut during the Netflix era of Marvel Television. “There will be an Iron Fist in here, and not the Iron Fist you expect," Harris stated. Entertainment Weekly has the first look at Eyes of Wakanda, the animated Black Panther spinoff series coming to Disney+ this summer. The show comes from Todd Harris, who serves as showrunner and director, and he said Marvel let him go “hog wild” on the series.
“I really liked the idea of everyone’s view of history,” Harris said. “The story starts off during the end of the Western Bronze Age, and that spark sets off this giant spy-espionage story that reverberates through time…. You get Wakanda-grade James Bond, and sometimes a Jane Bond, with the backdrop of all the awesomeness that is Wakanda.“

Since Marvel’s massive success with Endgame, the studio has been on a hunt for its next big thing. Marvel has been dipping its toes in all sorts of new characters, concepts, and shooting styles. Their latest addition to the vast list of their massive library is Eyes of Wakanda.
A new animated show is set to premiere on Disney+ very soon. Following their success from series like What If…? and X-Men ’97, Marvel is set to release a new animated miniseries that will dive into the history of Wakanda. The miniseries is set within the MCU’s Sacred Timeline—an isolated timeline that was created after a multiverse war by ‘He Who Remains,’ a future version of Kang the Conqueror’s variant. This means its events are canon and directly ripple to other chronologies of the franchise.

Zach Galifianakis, Isla Fisher, Gal Gadot, Jon Hamm, and fan favorite Patton Oswalt along with director Greg Mottola (Superbad), couldn't save their 2016 action comedy, Keeping Up With the Joneses. The film should have been a solid comedy hit, but instead tanked at the box office and was savaged by critics and audiences alike. However it has found new life on streaming, and sits at number four on Max's Top 10.
Keeping Up With the Joneses had the star power and director to get audiences excited about the film. Galifianakis was riding high with the Hangover trilogy, as Hamm earned major praise and awards as Don Draper on Mad Men (which ended the year before). Meanwhile, Gadot had been cast as Wonder Woman and appeared in Fast & Furious 6. Fisher appeared in hits like Wedding Crashers and Confessions of a Shopaholic.

Marvel Animation has two four-episode TV shows heading our way this year: Eyes of Wakanda and Marvel Zombies. The former promises to tell the stories of brave Wakandan warriors throughout history in a globe-trotting adventure meant to expand the Black Panther franchise.
The focus will be on a group called the Hatut Zaraze, with each episode showing them setting out to retrieve Vibranium artefacts from Wakanda's enemies.
Marvel Television boss describes the group "like Wakanda's CIA" and adds, "They often have to venture out to regain stolen Vibranium, but they also have to keep secrets well-hidden so that Wakanda can ward off invaders and stay safe. The Hatut Zaraze are challenged in different ways to stay loyal to Wakanda as they discover the rest of the world around them."
According to showrunner Todd Harris, animation was the only place to tell such a far-reaching story.

Marvel Animation has shared new details and stills for two of its most highly anticipated TV shows, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man and Eyes of Wakanda.
The former, according to the official plot synopsis, "is an animated series that follows Peter Parker on his way to becoming a hero, with a journey unlike we've ever seen and a style that celebrates the character’s early comic book roots."
We also have a confirmed cast list: Hudson Thames, Colman Domingo, Eugene Byrd, Grace Song, Zeno Robinson, Hugh Dancy, and Charlie Cox. No character details are provided, though we've heard that Thames is Spider-Man, Domingo is Norman Osborn and, well, Cox is obviously returning as Daredevil.
As for Dancy, rumour has it the Hannibal star is playing Doctor Octopus. That's a fantastic casting decision and one we're sure many of you would like to see carry over into live-action.

Monica Raymund returns with Hightown Season 2 on Sunday and while her character Jackie Quiñonez is in an infinitely better position than last season, it’s too early to tell if she can stay on the straight and narrow.

This Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness article contains spoilers.
Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness explores a time of change for its main characters. Years removed from the Raccoon City disaster that first brought them together, Leon S. Kennedy (Nick Apostolides) and Claire Redfield (Stephanie Panisello) are still leading the fight against bio-organic weapons but from different angles. Set after Resident Evil 4 but before the Kijuju incident in Resident Evil 5, Leon has embraced his role as President Graham’s top security man after saving his daughter from Los Iluminados. Meanwhile, Claire is overseas, working for an Ngo in the war-torn country of Penamstan, where a bloody civil war has left the nation in crisis.
But these heroes don’t stay apart for long. By the end of the first episode, they’re on a new mission that’ll take Leon to Chinese soil and Claire to the very depths of a...

At best, Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness is a curious detour, non-required viewing for even the series’ most hardcore fans. Set between the events of Resident Evil 4 and 5, the four-part miniseries tells a story about shady government cover-ups that lacks substance or anything particularly interesting to say. Even series favorites Leon S. Kennedy (Nick Apostolides) and Claire Redfield (Stephanie Panisello) can’t save this CG monstrosity from animated mediocrity.
Infinite Darkness sees our heroes covering familiar territory from opposite directions. Leon is now fully under the employ of the U.S. government after saving the president’s daughter from Los Iluminados in Resident Evil 4, and he even wears a suit while stopping a zombie outbreak inside the White House. Meanwhile, Claire works for an Ngo in the fictional nation of Penamstan, which was torn apart by a civil war fueled by American interests and a few biological weapons. Despite hardly...

Spoiler Alert: The following story contains details from Tuesday’s episode of The Flash.
It was the end of an era on Tuesday’s episode of The Flash, as the CW series said goodbye to original cast member Carlos Valdes and his tech whiz character, Cisco Ramon.
At the beginning of the episode, titled “Good-Bye Vibrations,” Ramon arranges for a meeting with his Team Flash colleagues, Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and Dr. Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker), to announce that he and his girlfriend Kamilla (Victoria Park) will be leaving Central City. Both express their readiness, at this stage of their lives, for a new chapter. For Kamila, that means traveling to Miami to put on a gallery show. For Allen’s best friend Cisco, it means taking over Chip Cooper’s (Donny Lucas) job as the Director of Technology and Science of A.R.G.U.S., after Chip leaves to take another gig.
