Eyes of Wakanda is produced by Marvel Studios Animation along with Ryan Coogler’s Proximity Media, keeping close ties with the movies and live-action series of the franchise. Todd Harris, who serves as both showrunner and director, pitched the idea years ago while working on storyboards for Avengers: Infinity War.

He wanted to create something that combined Marvel’s interconnected stories with the rich history of Wakanda and its people.

Over the last two years, Marvel’s television slate faced a whole lot of shifting, followed by an entire revamping of its structure, and it seems to have finally found its groove. And there’s still quite a few shows on the horizon.

According to Marvel TV head Brad Winderbaum, the studio is now “thinking about television really more like traditional television” — which in some cases means multiple seasons. “Loki,” “Daredevil: Born Again” and “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man” are so far the only series to get more than one, though Winderbaum offered hope for “Agatha All Along” and “Hawkeye.”

Following their success from series like What If…? and X-Men ’97, Marvel is set to release a new animated miniseries that will dive into the history of Wakanda. The miniseries is set within the MCU’s Sacred Timeline—an isolated timeline that was created after a multiverse war by ‘He Who Remains,’ a future version of Kang the Conqueror’s variant. This means its events are canon and directly ripple to other chronologies of the franchise.

‘Eyes of Wakanda’ is an exciting new four-episode animated series coming to Disney+ on August 6, 2025. The show explores the rich history of Wakanda, focusing on the brave warriors who have protected it through the ages. The series follows the Hatut Zaraze, an elite group of Wakandan operatives, as they go on dangerous missions to recover stolen Vibranium artifacts from the kingdom’s enemies.

Showrunner Todd Harris shared his excitement, saying, “This has been a long time coming. The story has been stewing for a long time in my head. I’m a big believer in what Wakanda represents to mankind as a place that’s untethered by expansion. It has drawn a line — a line it won’t cross and it won’t let anybody else cross.”

Recently, Marvel Studios released a teaser revealing the release dates for upcoming shows in 2024 and 2025. Marvel Animation has shared new details and stills for two of its most highly anticipated TV shows, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man and Eyes of Wakanda.

The former, according to the official plot synopsis, "is an animated series that follows Peter Parker on his way to becoming a hero, with a journey unlike we've ever seen and a style that celebrates the character’s early comic book roots."

We also have a confirmed cast list: Hudson Thames, Colman Domingo, Eugene Byrd, Grace Song, Zeno Robinson, Hugh Dancy, and Charlie Cox. No character details are provided, though we've heard that Thames is Spider-Man, Domingo is Norman Osborn and, well, Cox is obviously returning as Daredevil.

As for Dancy, rumour has it the Hannibal star is playing Doctor Octopus. That's a fantastic casting decision and one we're sure many of you would like to see carry over into live-action.

Monica Raymund returns with Hightown Season 2 on Sunday and while her character Jackie Quiñonez is in an infinitely better position than last season, it’s too early to tell if she can stay on the straight and narrow.

“At the top of Season 2, she’s got some days of sobriety under her belt and she’s working for the police department. She’s finally starting things off on the right foot,” Raymund tells Deadline at the Starz drama’s premiere on Saturday. “She has a new partner name Leslie Babcock [Tonya Glanz] and they’re the only two women on the police task force—two girls in a room full of men. So they get very close.”

The second season will premiere Sunday, October 17 across all Starz platforms, including at 9 Pm Et/Pt on Starz in the U.S. and Canada, and will air day and date internationally on the Starzplay premium streaming platform across Europe, Latin America, and Japan.

The series is created by Rebecca Cutter (Gotham), who will also make her television directorial debut this season.

At best, Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness is a curious detour, non-required viewing for even the series’ most hardcore fans.
