With a large yet colorful cast, Fairy Tail became one of the most popular shnen anime of the 2000s. While Lucy and Natsu were the leads, plenty of the other characters also got their time in the spotlight. Gray, Erza, and even some characters who weren't in the main guild, like Sting and Rogue, played a major part in key moments of the overall story.
However, with a cast that large, it's not a surprise that some characters didn't get the attention they deserved. Some were background characters who could have been more interesting if they'd been developed more. Others appeared more frequently, but weren't used to their full potential. All of them would've been better served getting a bit more love.
